Every contact below is taken from HDFC SmartEMI's own official contact or grievance page — not from a directory listing. Check the number before you dial

Searching for a customer care number is one of the most exploited moments in Indian consumer finance: fraudsters seed fake helplines into search results, map listings and social-media replies. Take the number from HDFC SmartEMI's own site or from inside its app, and never accept inbound help. No bank, NBFC or lender in India will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV, full card number or a screen-sharing app, and no genuine refund requires you to pay first.

If money has already left your account, call 1930 and file at cybercrime.gov.in the same hour — see the first-hour fraud steps.

What you can get done on the HDFC SmartEMI helpline

  • Check your outstanding balance, EMI date, interest rate and remaining tenure.
  • Sort out a payment that has not reflected, an EMI debited twice, or a failed auto-debit mandate.
  • Get a statement of account, interest certificate, foreclosure quote or no-dues certificate.
  • Update your registered mobile number, email, address or bank mandate, and complete KYC.
  • Report a loan you did not take, a card or app account to be blocked, or a suspected fraud.
  • Raise a complaint and get the reference number every later escalation depends on.

SmartEMI converts existing HDFC Bank credit card spends into EMIs, so queries go to the bank's card services rather than a separate lender. Have the card number and the transaction you want converted ready. Disputes over conversion charges or interest are card complaints, escalating through HDFC Bank's grievance process.

Keep these ready before you call — your loan or account number, registered mobile number, the exact date and amount of the transaction in question, and any earlier complaint reference number. Ask for a reference number before the call ends and note the agent's name: without a reference, an escalation has nothing to attach to.

HDFC SmartEMI grievance redressal — officer, address and timelines

RBI requires every regulated lender to appoint and publish a Grievance Redressal / Nodal Officer, both on its website and inside its app. This is who you write to when customer care has failed — and the step you must complete before the Ombudsman will hear you.

What to put in the escalation email

One screen, no adjectives. Open with your loan or account number and the earlier complaint reference. Then: what happened, with dates and amounts; what you have already been told; and what specific outcome you want — a reversal, a corrected bureau entry, a closure letter. Attach screenshots and statements as files rather than describing them. Close with a line saying that if it is not resolved within 30 days you will take it to the RBI Ombudsman under the Integrated Ombudsman Scheme. That sentence changes how the file is handled, because it starts a clock the company is measured on.

If HDFC SmartEMI does not resolve it: the escalation ladder

Each level has to be attempted before the next one will hear you, and each one needs the reference number from the level below. Nothing here costs money and none of it needs a lawyer.

Level 1

Helpline, email or in-app chat — always ask for a complaint reference number

Most transactional issues close in a working day or two

Level 2

HDFC SmartEMI Grievance Redressal / Nodal Officer

Every RBI-regulated entity must appoint and publish one, and must resolve within 30 days

HDFC SmartEMI customer care — frequently asked questions

What is the HDFC SmartEMI customer care number?
1800 1600 / 1800 2600 (General customer care). Check the hours listed above before you dial. These are taken from HDFC SmartEMI's own official contact page — verify anything you find elsewhere against that page or inside the app before calling.
Is there a 24x7 HDFC SmartEMI helpline?
Only the hours HDFC SmartEMI itself publishes are listed on this page. Where no hours appear beside a number, the company has not stated them — treat it as a business-hours line rather than assuming round-the-clock support. Fraud and card-block requests are the exception at banks, which run those lines 24x7.
Does HDFC SmartEMI have a WhatsApp number?
Yes — 7070022222, published on its own website. Save it from the official page rather than from a forwarded message: impersonating support on WhatsApp is one of the most common fraud methods in Indian lending today.
How do I file a complaint against HDFC SmartEMI?
Start with customer care and get a complaint reference number — every later step depends on it. If it is unresolved, write to the Grievance Redressal / Nodal Officer listed above with that reference, your account or policy number and dates. If 30 days pass without a satisfactory reply, complain to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in — it is free, online and needs no lawyer.
Who is the grievance redressal officer of HDFC SmartEMI?
HDFC SmartEMI publishes a grievance channel but not a named officer on the pages we verified. RBI requires every regulated lender to display its grievance officer inside the app, which is the one place the detail cannot be faked.
How do I know a HDFC SmartEMI customer care number is genuine?
Take it from only two places: the official website, and the support section inside the app. RBI requires the detail to be displayed there, and it is the one place a fraudster cannot edit. Never dial a number from a search snippet, a map listing, a social-media reply or a comment thread. And never accept inbound help — if someone calls claiming to be HDFC SmartEMI, hang up and dial the official number yourself. No company will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV or a screen-sharing app.
