Instant Mudra is a real loan app. Its owner, Chintamani Finlease Limited, is a Delhi NBFC on RBI's register, and it lends the money itself. Is it safe, though? The lender is regulated, but the app's website and its Play Store page describe two very different loans.

Before you sign, check three figures in the app's Key Fact Statement (KFS): money paid out, total to repay and due date. If repayment falls within 30 days and up to 15% plus GST goes upfront, this is costly credit. We checked everything below on 30 October 2026.

Quick answer

  • Real company: Chintamani Finlease Limited, founded in 1995, owns Instant Mudra. It is at serial number 1527 on RBI's NBFC list dated 15 October 2026.
  • Direct lender: the same company publishes the app on Google Play and funds the loans.
  • Small, short loans: ₹3,000 to ₹30,000. The website gives 15 to 30 days to repay, at 5.5% interest a month, with a fee of up to 15%.
  • Mixed messages: Google Play instead lists terms of 3 to 24 months, with an APR cap of 23%. Trust the rupee amounts in your KFS over either headline.
  • Split reviews: 3.5 stars from 5.24K reviews on Play as of October 2026, with many complaints about late rejections and stray debits.

Who is behind Instant Mudra, and whose money is it?

Instant Mudra's home page calls it a digital lending app owned by Chintamani Finlease Limited. Google Play agrees. The same company is the developer, and the listing names it as the lending partner.

Chintamani's own page on digital lending apps names Instant Mudra, and no other app. Chintamani also runs a second app under its own name, Instant Personal Loan app CFL. We cover the company and that app in our Chintamani Finlease review.

That matters. Many small-loan apps only pass you on to another lender, but here your contract and any complaint sit with an RBI-regulated company.

Some people search for the app as InstantMudra. Don't mix it up with My Mudra, a separate company that links borrowers to banks, or with MudraKwik, another loan brand.

Is Instant Mudra RBI registered? How to check it yourself

An app is a brand, so it won't appear in RBI's NBFC register. You check the company behind it, like this.

  1. Find the developer on Google Play. The developer should read Chintamani Finlease Limited, and the app ID in the page link should be com.instantmudra.
  2. Search RBI's NBFC list. It's a long PDF on RBI's website, and the latest one we read shows the position on 30 September 2026. Chintamani Finlease Limited is serial number 1527, under RBI's New Delhi office.
  3. Read the rest of that row. It marks the firm as an investment and credit company (ICC) in RBI's base layer, taking no public deposits. Its CIN is U74899DL1995PLC067938. Papers under any other name are a reason to stop.
  4. See if the lender names the app. Chintamani's digital lending page should list Instant Mudra, and on 30 October 2026 it did.
  5. Search RBI's directory of digital lending apps. It sits under Citizen's Corner and relies on lenders' own reports, unchecked by RBI. It timed out for us, so the app's entry is unconfirmed.
  6. Read the KFS before you e-sign. It should carry Chintamani Finlease's name, the yearly rate and every charge in rupees.

RBI's website refused our connection, so we read an archived copy of that list. Its cancelled-registrations list wouldn't open at all.

If anyone offers you a loan in Instant Mudra's name outside the app, report it on RBI's Sachet portal. Our guide to checking any loan app with RBI has more detail.

What an Instant Mudra loan costs

Here's the awkward part. Instant Mudra's terms appear in several places, and they don't agree.

The apply page on the website shows a sample, which its own code labels a demo. Take ₹30,000. Interest is ₹1,650, the fee is ₹4,500 and GST on the fee is ₹810. You'd get ₹24,690 in your bank and owe ₹31,650 about a month later.

That's ₹6,960 for the use of ₹24,690 for roughly 30 days. This is what a 66% yearly rate and a 15% fee look like in rupees.

The Play sample is ₹30,000 over 12 months at 23%, with a ₹750 fee, an EMI of ₹3,075 and ₹36,900 repaid. That only works as a flat rate. Interest of ₹6,900 is 23% of the full loan, charged for twelve months while the balance shrinks. A true 23% reducing-balance loan would need an EMI of about ₹2,822, so the sample's real rate is closer to 40%, before the fee.

Which version will you get? No KFS is published, and riskier borrowers may pay more. An archived 2025 copy of the listing said its 24-month limit included renewal time. So plan for one repayment within a month unless your KFS says otherwise.

Why some people think Instant Mudra is fake

Most doubts come from the company's own pages. Our searches on 30 October 2026 found no RBI penalty, caution or police report naming the app or its lender. Here's what worries borrowers.

  • Terms that deny a licence. The app's terms say Instant Mudra isn't an RBI-registered organisation and has no licence to lend. Strictly, the company is the registered body, not the app. But the same terms describe a many-lender marketplace, which reads like copied text.
  • Two sets of loan terms. The website says weeks, Google Play says months. Play's own policy bars personal loan apps that want full repayment in 60 days or less.
  • Typos in key places. The privacy policy spells the site "insantmudra". The grievance page gives the officer's email with a typo in the domain name, which didn't work when we checked.
  • Sharing rules that don't match. On Play, the developer declares that no user data goes to other companies. The terms allow sharing with verification and collection agencies.
  • A Gmail contact. Play's developer block lists a Gmail address and a phone number that isn't the support line.
  • Hours that change by page. The home page promises support around the clock. The contact page says Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 19:00, and the grievance page closes at 6 PM.

Plenty here is ordinary, though. PAN, Aadhaar, a selfie and salary slips are standard asks for an unsecured loan. Cutting the fee from the payout is common too, if the KFS shows it.

What borrowers say about Instant Mudra

As of 30 October 2026, Instant Mudra had 3.5 stars on Google Play from 5.24K reviews and over 10 lakh downloads. The app was last updated on 28 October 2026. Opinion is split: 2,910 five-star ratings against 1,614 one-star ones, with few in between.

We read the 450 newest reviews, from 28 February to 26 October 2026, and March stood out. Of 147 reviews that month, 110 were five-star, against 8 to 38 in each later month. Many March reviews thanked staff by first name, and two accounts posted word-for-word the same praise on 17 March and 8 April.

The complaints are longer and more detailed. Four themes repeat.

  • Rejected after uploading everything. On 10 June 2026, one reviewer was told the minimum salary was ₹28,000, above the ₹25,000 on Play. Another was turned down for a low CIBIL score.
  • Stuck and unreachable. On 17 September 2026, a user said the application had been stuck for 2 days and the care number was out of service.
  • Debits that shouldn't happen. One reviewer said a NACH debit hit after the loan was closed. Another said ₹30,000 was taken though no loan was paid out.
  • Repayment trouble. One user described daily auto-debit attempts after a missed date. Another, on 26 October 2026, said an extra payment wasn't refunded.

Happy borrowers mention quick approval, rising limits and reminder calls that aren't constant. One of them still found the rate a little high.

How to spot a fake Instant Mudra app, agent or call

Scammers like familiar names, and "Mudra" sounds official. A few rules catch most fakes.

  • Install only one app. There's a single Play app with this name, from Chintamani Finlease Limited. Never install an APK file sent by SMS, WhatsApp or a caller.
  • Know the real website. The company's site is instantmudra.com. The .in version is a parked domain that isn't theirs.
  • Never pay to get a loan. In the website's own sample, the fee comes out of the payout. A caller who wants a "file charge" or deposit before disbursal is breaking that pattern.
  • Send repayments only through the app. Or pay an account held by Chintamani Finlease itself. A personal UPI ID is a warning sign.
  • Ignore "government Mudra loan" offers. Nothing we found links Instant Mudra to PM Mudra Yojana.
  • Check the number. The published helpline is 7290077011, and the office landline is 01164992675. Got a call from some other number? End it and dial the helpline yourself.

Its privacy policy says the app doesn't read your contacts or call logs, and its fair practice code rules out undue harassment. An agent who threatens your family breaks both promises.

Instant Mudra complaints: who to contact, in order

Keep screenshots and dates. Our Instant Mudra customer care page keeps these contacts in one place.

  1. Customer care: 7290077011, Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM, or info@instantmudra.com. Level 1 of the grievance policy is info@chintamanifinlease.com.
  2. Second level after 10 days: the fair practice code says to write to care@chintamanifinlease.com or send a letter.
  3. Grievance Redressal Officer: Viirendra Tanwar, also the nodal officer, on 9212038639. Use grievancecell@chintamanifinlease.com, the address in the fair practice code.
  4. By post: Second Floor, 216 Vikasdeep Building, Plot No. 18, District Centre, Laxmi Nagar, East Delhi 110092.
  5. RBI Integrated Ombudsman: no fix within 30 days? File at cms.rbi.org.in or call 14448.
  6. Fraud: if someone took money using Instant Mudra's name, ring 1930, the national cybercrime helpline, the same day, and report it to the police.

If debits carry on after closure, ask the app in writing to cancel the mandate and tell your bank. Keep the no-dues letter as proof.

Should you use Instant Mudra?

It may suit a salaried person aged 21 or over, earning at least ₹25,000 a month, who needs a small sum until payday. It only makes sense if you can repay everything, interest included, within a month.

Look elsewhere if you need EMIs over several months, or if you're self-employed, which one September reviewer said it doesn't serve. Skip it too if losing up to 15% of the loan, plus GST, before it lands would hurt.

For similar small loans through regulated lenders, compare mPokket, Pocketly and True Balance. True Balance may suit you better if you'd rather repay over months. Our full Instant Mudra review scores it on cost, safety and service, and our reviews page lists every app we've rated.

Frequently asked questions

Is Instant Mudra real or fake?

Instant Mudra is real. It's a working small-loan app, and the Delhi NBFC behind it, Chintamani Finlease Limited, lends the money itself. The app has been on Google Play since December 2022. We found no RBI caution or police report against it, but its terms are confusing and the cost is high.

Is Instant Mudra RBI registered?

The app is a brand, and the company that owns it is registered. Chintamani Finlease Limited is serial number 1527 in RBI's register as on 30 September 2026, under RBI's New Delhi office. Chintamani's website also names Instant Mudra as its digital lending app. The app's terms say otherwise, which looks like copied text.

How much does an Instant Mudra loan really cost?

Plan on 5.5% interest a month, plus a fee of up to 15% and 18% GST on that fee. In the website's own sample, a ₹30,000 loan pays out ₹24,690 and you repay ₹31,650 about a month later. The 23% APR cap on Play can't produce those figures. Rely on the rupee amounts in your Key Fact Statement.

What is the Instant Mudra customer care number?

The helpline is 7290077011, on both the website and Play. The grievance policy gives hours of 10 AM to 6 PM, Monday to Saturday. The website also lists a Delhi landline, 01164992675, and the email info@instantmudra.com. For unresolved complaints, the grievance officer, Viirendra Tanwar, is on 9212038639.

How do I deal with recovery harassment or a fake Instant Mudra call?

Don't pay anyone who calls you first. Hang up and ring the official helpline, 7290077011, to check. The fair practice code rules out undue harassment, so report a threatening agent to the grievance officer. If you lost money to a fake caller, dial 1930 right away and file a police complaint.

How do I close an Instant Mudra loan or stop the debits?

Repay the full amount inside the app, then ask for a no-dues letter. Instant Mudra doesn't publish foreclosure or late charges, so check your loan agreement and KFS first. If an auto-debit runs after closure, write to customer care and your bank with the proof. If it's still unresolved after 30 days, go to the RBI Ombudsman.

Is Instant Mudra a government Mudra loan?

No. Instant Mudra is a private short-term loan app run by Chintamani Finlease. Nothing we found ties it to PM Mudra Yojana, the government's business loan scheme run through banks. It's also unrelated to My Mudra and MudraKwik, two other loan brands. If a caller promises a cheap government Mudra loan via this app, it's likely a scam.
