What the Axis Select card offers
Axis Bank Select Credit Card sit in the middle of Axis's range: a ₹3,000 card that earns EDGE REWARD Points on daily spends and adds lounge, golf and food delivery offers. It is active and open for applications, though Axis's page and terms do not name its card network. The base earn is 10 points per ₹200, about 1% at Axis's own value of ₹0.20 a point, and grocery, department store and clothing spends earn double up to ₹20,000 a month.
The points that matter
- ₹3 lakh milestone. Spending ₹3 lakh in a card anniversary year brings 5,000 points, 6 extra Priority Pass visits, 6 extra golf rounds and next year's Priority Pass renewal.
- A high waiver. The fee goes only on ₹8 lakh of spends, and a long list of categories don't count.
- Lounges. 2 domestic visits a quarter if you spent ₹50,000 in the last 3 months, plus 6 Priority Pass visits abroad each anniversary year.
Changes from 2024 to 2026
In April 2024, from the 20th, insurance, gold and fuel spends were dropped from the waiver count, and from 1 May 2024 domestic lounges needed ₹50,000 of spends in 3 months. On 20 December 2024 the interest rate rose from 3.6% to 3.75% a month. 2026 brought most changes. From 28 August the conversion markup became 3.5% from 1.5% and Priority Pass cards were no longer valid at lounges inside India; from 1 October excluded categories no more counts toward the ₹3 lakh threshold for extra lounge, golf and Priority Pass benefits; from 1 November the District movie offer needs ₹25,000 of spends in 3 months; and from 15 November memberships renew only with your consent.
Fees and charges on Axis Select
The joining fee and annual fee are ₹3,000 each, plus GST, which at 18% adds ₹540, so ₹3,540. Burgundy account holders pays nil, but if the Burgundy status ends the ₹3,000 plus GST annual fee comes back. Add-on cards are free.
The ₹8 lakh waiver
The annual fee is waived on ₹8 lakh of spends in the preceding card anniversary year. That is ₹8,00,000 divided by 12, about ₹66,667 a month, which is a lot for a ₹3,000 card. Insurance, rent, fuel, education, utilities and telecom, government, wallet, gold and gift card spends, plus EMI conversions and cash, are not counted. For most user the ₹3 lakh milestone is the realistic target, not the waiver.
Interest and penalties
Interest runs at 3.75% monthly (55.55% a year). A late payment on a ₹30,000 total due cost ₹1,200, and above ₹50,000 the fee is ₹1,300. Cash withdrawals carry 2.5%, minimum ₹500, with interest from day one.
- Forex: 3.5% on foreign currency spends and on rupee payments abroad, so ₹50,000 spent on a trip costs ₹1,750 plus GST.
- Rent costs 1% of every payment plus GST. Utility bills cost 1% once they reach ₹25,000 in a cycle, wallet top-ups and online gaming once they reach ₹10,000, fuel once it reaches ₹50,000, and app-paid education fees always.
- Points redemption ₹99 each time and ₹199 per transfer to a partner programme. Extra Priority Pass or guest visits are charged at Priority Pass rates, for example USD 35 per guest.

How Select points work
Every ₹200 of eligible spend earns 10 EDGE REWARD Points. Retail shopping, meaning department stores, grocery stores and clothing and accessory stores, earns 2X, or 20 points per ₹200, on the first ₹20,000 a month, and 10 after that. Axis's welcome offer puts 10,000 points at ₹2,000, so a point is ₹0.20, which make the base about 1% and the retail rate about 2%.
Points don't come on insurance, rent, fuel, education, utilities and telecom, wallet, gold and jewellery, government services, gift cards or tolls, and points on EMI-converted purchases is taken back. They expire 3 years after allotment or after 365 days without activity.
- Welcome: 10,000 points, worth ₹2,000, on the first transaction within 30 days; not for lifetime-free cards or Burgundy holders.
- Milestone: 5,000 points on ₹3 lakh of spends in a card anniversary year. The same ₹3 lakh also brings the extra lounge visits, golf and Priority Pass renewal, and from 1 October 2026 excluded categories does not count toward that one.
- Offers: BigBasket flat ₹500 off once a month on ₹2,500 or more, Swiggy ₹200 off twice a month on orders of ₹1,000 or more, and District buy one get one movies up to ₹250 off twice a month.
- Fuel: a 1% surcharge refund for fills of ₹400 to ₹4,000 (maximum ₹400 per statement cycle), and no points on fuel.
The card page also list purchase protection up to ₹1 lakh and up to USD 500 of cover for lost travel documents and delayed or lost checked-in baggage; Axis's separate insurance terms were not part of our check.
Example 1: light spender, ₹31,000 a month
₹10,000 at grocery and department stores, ₹16,000 of other shopping and dining, ₹3,000 of electricity and ₹2,000 of fuel. Grocery gives ₹10,000 divided by ₹200, which is 50, times 20, so 1,000 points; the other shopping gives 80 times 10, so 800. That is 1,800 a month, 21,600 a year. Eligible spend is ₹10,000 plus ₹16,000, so ₹26,000, and times 12 that is ₹3,12,000, so the milestone adds 5,000, a total of 26,600 points worth ₹5,320 at ₹0.20. The ₹3,540 fee stays, leaving ₹1,780.
Example 2: typical spender, ₹60,000 a month
₹20,000 at grocery, department and clothing stores, ₹30,000 on dining and other shopping, ₹5,000 of bills and ₹5,000 of insurance. The retail part earns 100 times 20, so 2,000 points, right at the cap, and the ₹30,000 earns 150 times 10, so 1,500. That's 3,500 a month, 42,000 a year, plus 5,000 for the milestone, so 47,000 points or ₹9,400. Eligible spend of ₹50,000 times 12 is ₹6,00,000, under ₹8 lakh, so after ₹3,540 you net ₹5,860. The Swiggy offer used twice, ₹200 each time, would add ₹400 a month in discounts.
Example 3: heavy spender, ₹1,00,000 a month
₹30,000 on retail, ₹60,000 on other spends and ₹10,000 of rent. The first ₹20,000 of retail earns 2,000 points and the next ₹10,000 earns 50 times 10, so 500; the ₹60,000 earns 300 times 10, so 3,000; rent earn nothing and costs 1%, ₹100 plus GST. That's 5,500 a month, 66,000 a year, plus 5,000, so 71,000 points or ₹14,200. Eligible spend is ₹30,000 plus ₹60,000, so ₹90,000, and times 12 that is ₹10,80,000, above ₹8 lakh, so there is no annual fee next year, only the rent fee of ₹100 times 12, ₹1,200 plus GST.
| Spender | Monthly spend | Points a year | Value at ₹0.20 | Annual fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | ₹31,000 | 26,600 | ₹5,320 | ₹3,540 |

Eligibility and how to apply for Axis Select
Axis asks for net income of at least ₹6 lakh a year, which is ₹6 lakh divided by 12, or ₹50,000 a month, and the page don't give a separate figure for self-employed people. Age limits for the primary card are 18 and 70.
Documents are a PAN card copy, income proof like the latest payslip, Form 16 or income tax return, and residence proof such as a driving licence, electricity bill or landline bill. You can apply through Axis's online form, where you enter your phone number with PAN or birth date, in the Axis Mobile app, or by walking into an Axis branch.
What decides approval
Axis must run its own credit check on your independent financial means and consider every limit you have with other lenders, as the RBI's 2025 card Directions requires. A good history helps; on Experian's 300 to 900 scale, above 750 is generally good. If refused, you are entitled for written reasons. Meeting the income rule is not approval, and only Axis decides. For service queries, see Axis Bank customer care.

Is Axis Select right for you?
The card works best for a household that spends ₹20,000 a month at grocery and department stores and puts another ₹10,000 or more on dining and shopping. Those people clear the ₹3 lakh milestone without effort and collects 5,000 bonus points plus Priority Pass renewal. The BigBasket and Swiggy offers add real money if you uses them every month.
The minus points are clear too. At ₹0.20 a point the base is only about 1%, the ₹8 lakh waiver is out of reach for most, and 3.5% forex makes it weak abroad even with Priority Pass. Bills, rent, fuel and insurance earns nothing.
- Suits: grocery-heavy families, people who fly abroad once or twice a year and want lounges, and Burgundy holders who pay no fee.
- Skip: anyone spending under ₹25,000 a month on eligible categories, since ₹3 lakh divided by 12 is ₹25,000 and the milestone will slip.
- Skip also if you revolve balances, because 3.75% a month interest is far more than 1% rewards.
If you spend well above ₹1.5 lakh a month, the Axis Bank Magnus card earns more points per ₹200.
Pros
- 10 EDGE REWARD Points per ₹200, about 1% at ₹0.20 a point
- 2X points on grocery, department store and clothing spends up to ₹20,000 a month
- 5,000 bonus points, extra lounge visits and Priority Pass renewal on ₹3 lakh a year
- BigBasket ₹500 off once a month and Swiggy ₹200 off twice a month
- Nil fee for Burgundy account holders
Cons
- ₹3,000 plus GST fee, waived only on ₹8 lakh of yearly spends
- Base value of about 1% is modest for a ₹3,000 card
- 3.5% forex fee and a 3.5% conversion markup
- Domestic lounges need ₹50,000 of spends in the previous 3 months
- ₹99 charged on every points redemption
