Axis Bank as an issuer: size, range and status
If you came looking for the Axis ACE or Atlas card, start here: on 5 November 2026 Axis's site showed no option to apply for either. The ACE tile had only Know More and no Apply Now, and on the Atlas page the apply button is hidden. Axis has published no notice about them, so we are not calling either card closed, just that the bank isn't taking applications for them through its site for now. Axis also describe Atlas's international lounge programme as under maintenance.
The rest of the lineup has been reworked heavily. Between April 2024 and November 2026 Axis rewrote its card terms on at least nine separate dates, and nearly every popular card lost something along the way, so the headline rate still look good but the caps and exclusions around it have tightened. Our credit cards guide explains the general rules if you are new to cards.
It remain one of India's largest issuers all the same. RBI's September 2026 table puts Axis Bank at 1,65,53,348 credit cards outstanding, about 13.2% of the 12,53,15,381 cards across all reporting banks (1,65,53,348 divided by 12,53,15,381). A year earlier, in September 2025, the count was 1,54,24,177, so the bank added 11,29,171 cards (1,65,53,348 minus 1,54,24,177), around 7.3% growth (11,29,171 divided by 1,54,24,177).
The listing showed 42 consumer cards on 5 November 2026. At the low end, MY Zone and Privilege carry fees of ₹500 and ₹1,500 in the MITC but are being offered lifetime free on the Visa network till 31 December 2026, a time-limited offer and not their standing fee. Flipkart, Airtel and IndianOil cards cost ₹500, Horizon and Select ₹3,000, Atlas ₹5,000, Magnus ₹12,500 and Reserve ₹50,000, all plus GST. MY Zone Easy is backed by a fixed deposit.
What defines Axis cards
- EDGE REWARD points, worth ₹0.20 each where Axis states a value (Privilege, Select, MY Zone), and EDGE Miles that Axis values at ₹1 on Horizon and Atlas.
- A lounge spend rule since 1 May 2024: ₹50,000 of spend in the previous 3 calendar months for domestic visits on most cards, waived on Horizon, Atlas and Reserve.
- EDGE REWARD points valid for 3 years from allotment, but lost after 365 days without account activity.
- Co-brands with Flipkart, Airtel and IndianOil, and more is on the listing such as IndiGo, Samsung and SpiceJet.
Matching an Axis card to your spending
Pick by your biggest category. For each one below, the number in bold is the one that most often change the answer.
Online shopping: Flipkart Axis Bank
The Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card (₹500) pays 7.5% on Myntra, 5% on Flipkart and 5% on Cleartrip, each capped at ₹4,000 per statement quarter, and Axis says these caps are separate for each merchant. Swiggy food delivery, Uber, PVR and Fitpass give 4% without a cap, everything else 1%. To max out Flipkart alone you'd need ₹80,000 of Flipkart orders in a quarter (₹4,000 divided by 5%). The fee go away after ₹3.5 lakh of yearly spend. It have lost its 4 free lounge visits on 20 June 2025. SBI Card's Flipkart card pays similar rates but its terms don't say whether its ₹4,000 limit is shared, a difference our SBI Card hub explains.
Bills and recharges: Airtel Axis Bank
The Airtel Axis Bank Credit Card (₹500) gives 25% cashback on Airtel mobile, broadband, Wi-Fi and DTH bills paid in the Airtel Thanks app and 10% on other utilities paid there. Since 12 April 2026 the cap is no longer a flat ₹250. It is twice your 1% base cashback for the Airtel bills and once for other utilities, in the same statement month. So if you spend ₹20,000 elsewhere and earn ₹200 of base cashback, your Airtel cashback stop at ₹400. Zomato, Blinkit and District now give 10% value back in the partner's own wallet, up to ₹200 per partner a month, and the card's lounge visits were dropped on 12 April 2026.
Fuel: IndianOil Axis Bank
IndianOil Axis Bank (₹500) earns 20 points per ₹100 at IndianOil outlets, which Axis calls 4% value back, but only on ₹5,000 of fuel a month, 1,000 points at most. Online shopping gets 5 points per ₹100 on up to ₹5,000 a month. The fee is waive at ₹3.5 lakh of yearly spend per the card terms and Key Fact Sheet, even though the MITC table shows no waiver at all. Axis's 1% fuel fee starts only once fuel spends reach ₹50,000 in a cycle, which a ₹5,000-a-month fuel user won't come near.
Starting out: MY Zone and Privilege
MY Zone carries ₹500 joining and ₹500 annual fees in the MITC, but the Visa version is lifetime free under an offer valid till 31 December 2026, and Axis doesn't say whether the RuPay version get the same. It earns 4 points per ₹200, about 0.4% at ₹0.20 a point, and one domestic lounge visit a quarter after ₹50,000 of spend in the previous 3 months. Privilege (₹1,500 in the MITC, free on Visa under the same offer) earns 10 points per ₹200, or 1%. Its 12,500-point welcome, worth ₹2,500, comes only when a joining fee is actually charged, so not on the free offer.
No income proof: MY Zone Easy
MY Zone Easy is issued against an Axis fixed deposit of ₹15,000 to ₹25 lakh, with a limit of 80% to 90% of the FD, and needs no income proof. The Key Fact Sheet charges ₹500 joining and ₹500 annual even though the listing shows nil, and FD cards carry 3.4% a month interest. In the online FD route, anyone who holds or has held a credit card is not eligible. Approval is still Axis's decision, whatever the card page say.
Travel: Horizon
Horizon (₹3,000, no spend waiver) earns 5 EDGE Miles per ₹100 on Axis's Travel EDGE portal and direct airline spends and 2 elsewhere, with Axis valuing a Mile at ₹1. Its lounge spend rule are waived: 8 domestic visits a quarter on the Visa Signature version or 6 on Mastercard World, plus 2 international visits a quarter. Customers with a Burgundy Savings Account opened from 1 July 2026 can get it with nil fees, at the bank's discretion. Atlas, the other miles card, had no apply option on the day we checked.
Everyday premium: Select
The Axis Bank Select Credit Card (₹3,000) earns 10 points per ₹200, doubled on department stores, grocery and clothing up to ₹20,000 a month, which is 2% at ₹0.20 a point. Its real draw are the extras: 6 Priority Pass visits abroad a year plus 6 more on ₹3 lakh of yearly spend, 2 domestic visits a quarter after ₹50,000 in 3 months, and BigBasket and Swiggy discounts. It needs ₹6 lakh of annual income, and the fee is waived at ₹8 lakh of spend.
Big spenders: Magnus and Reserve
Axis Bank Magnus (₹12,500) gives 12 points per ₹200 on the first ₹1.5 lakh each calendar month and 35 per ₹200 above that, up to your credit limit plus ₹1.5 lakh, and its points move to 20 travel partners at 5 points to 2 miles. Axis don't publish a rupee value for a Magnus point. It charges 2% on forex, 3.0% a month interest and no cash withdrawal fee, and the fee is waived only at ₹25 lakh of yearly spend, or for new Burgundy Salary customers with ₹2 lakh net monthly salary from 1 July 2026. Reserve (₹50,000) earns 15 points per ₹200, double abroad up to the credit limit, and having a 1.5% forex mark-up and unlimited lounges with 12 guest visits a year.
Axis charges across the range
Axis prints its fees exclusive of GST, so add 18% to every number here. They come from the MITC and Key Fact Sheet dated 8 October 2026.
Interest
Most retail cards charge 3.75% a month, which Axis shows as 55.55% a year, the monthly rate compounded over 12 months. Reserve and Magnus charge 3.0% a month (42.58% a year) and FD-secured cards 3.4% (49.36%). The 3.75% rate came in on 20 December 2024, up from 3.6%. Purchases get 20 to 50 interest-free days, only if last month's total was paid in full, and cash never gets any.
Late payment
Axis late fee start only above ₹500 owed: ₹500 for ₹501 to ₹5,000, ₹750 for ₹5,001 to ₹10,000, ₹1,200 for ₹10,001 to ₹50,000 and ₹1,300 above ₹50,000, the top slab added on 28 August 2026. Miss the minimum due two cycles running and ₹100 more is added every cycle until you clear it. A ₹25,000 balance left after the due date therefore costs ₹1,200, or ₹1,416 with GST (₹1,200 plus 18%).
Fees that start at a spend level
| Spend in one statement cycle | Fee |
|---|---|
| Utilities, cumulative ₹25,000 or more | 1% |
| Wallet loads, ₹10,000 or more | 1% |
| Online skill-based gaming, ₹10,000 or more | 1% |
| Fuel, ₹50,000 or more | 1% |
| Rent, any amount, including on UPI | 1% of each payment |
| Education through third-party apps | 1% of each payment |
Rent is the one that bite most. ₹20,000 a month paid by card costs ₹200 plus ₹36 GST, every month, and paying through UPI on a RuPay card doesn't avoid it. Paying a school direct on its own website or machine are not charged.
Cash, over-limit and abroad
Cash withdrawal costs 2.5% with a ₹500 minimum on most cards, nil on Magnus and Reserve, with interest from the day you withdraw. Over-limit use needs your consent and costs 2.5%, minimum ₹500. The forex fee is 3.5% on most cards, 2% on Magnus and 1.5% on Reserve, and from 28 August 2026 the DCC mark-up on rupee payments abroad went up to 3.5% from 1.5%. A ₹1 lakh foreign trip so costs ₹3,500 on a standard card (3.5% of ₹1 lakh) but ₹1,500 on Reserve, before GST.
Other charges
- Cash payment of the bill at a branch: ₹175 each time, with at most ₹50,000 accepted in cash a day.
- Cheque, auto-debit or standing instruction bounce: 2% of the amount, minimum ₹500.
- EDGE REWARDS: ₹99 per redemption and ₹199 per transfer to an airline or hotel partner, both since 20 December 2024.
- From 28 August 2026, your payment go first to fees and charges, then EMIs, interest, purchases and cash.

What it means for you: an Axis card picked in 2023 for one perk may not carry that perk now, so read the current card page before you renew or pay a annual fee for it.
Applying for an Axis card
Axis general criteria is simple on paper: primary cardholders aged 18 to 70 (80 for Burgundy), resident in India or an NRI, with a minimum income of ₹15,000 a month, and the bank may also look at your credit score and history. Axis itself call these indicative. Card pages set higher bars where they publish one: ₹6 lakh a year for Select, ₹12 lakh salaried or ₹15 lakh self-employed for Atlas, and ₹24 lakh for Magnus. Reserve, ACE and the Flipkart, Airtel and Privilege cards don't publish a separate income.
Documents mostly means a PAN copy (or the form Axis accepts in its place), a latest payslip, Form 16 or ITR, and residence proof such as a driving licence or electricity bill. The Airtel card also asks for a colour photograph, and MY Zone Easy needs only Aadhaar and PAN checks plus the fixed deposit.
Routes
- Axis Bank website: choose the card, enter your mobile number and PAN or date of birth, check eligibility and offers, and verify with OTP.
- The Axis Mobile app, or any Axis branch.
- For FD-backed Easy cards, book the FD online; non-customers complete Video KYC.
- Co-brands through the partner: Airtel Axis in the Airtel Thanks app, Google Pay Flex in Google Pay, and Fibe and Scapia in their own apps.
The RBI rules that protect you
As a commercial bank, Axis is bound by the RBI's card Directions of 28 November 2025. Before you sign you should get a one-page Key Fact Statement, and if you're rejected, the reasons in writing. Axis cannot raise your limit or upgrade your card without your clear consent, and it can't report a new card to credit bureaus before you activate it. Per its MITC, a new card not activated within 30 days (plus 7) is deactivated. You may change your billing date at least once, and if you ask to close the card, Axis has seven working days once dues are cleared, after which it owe you ₹500 for each day of delay.
Axis customer care
Axis's contact page lists retail phone banking on 1800 4030 and 1800 8911, both toll free. For statement questions there is 1800 103 5577, and Magnus and Reserve holders gets a dedicated line, 1800 419 0065. Card closure can also be requested on 1860-419-5555 or 1860-500-5555, where call charges may apply.
If a complaint stall, the Key Fact Sheet names a nodal official for cards, reachable on 080 61865200. After 30 days without a fair answer you can go to the RBI Ombudsman. More numbers are on our Axis Bank customer care page.
If you no longer use a card, closing it yourself is cleaner than leaving it idle. Axis's MITC says a card unused for more than a year goes through closure after notice, and the RBI's rules let you ask for closure through more than one channel once dues are cleared. A refund that lands after you've paid the bill don't have to sit on the card either: if it is above 1% of your limit or ₹5,000, whichever is lower, Axis needs your consent to keep it there, and otherwise it goes to your bank account. Telemarketing calls are allowed only between 10:00 and 19:00, so note the time of any call outside that window.
