Check the number before you dial
Searching for a customer care number is one of the most exploited moments in Indian consumer finance: fraudsters seed fake helplines into search results, map listings and social-media replies. Take the number from Axis Bank's own site or from inside its app, and never accept inbound help. No bank, NBFC or lender in India will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV, full card number or a screen-sharing app, and no genuine refund requires you to pay first.
Axis Bank's own published warning: “Axis Bank uses official 1600 series numbers to call customers for verifying high-value or suspicious transactions. These calls are only for verification; Axis Bank will never ask for OTP, CVV, or passwords. If you receive a call claiming to be from Axis Bank but asking for sensitive details, do not share anything and report it immediately.”
If money has already left your account, call 1930 and file at cybercrime.gov.in the same hour — see the first-hour fraud steps.
What you can get done on the Axis Bank helpline
- › Get account balance, transaction and cheque status information, and deposit interest rates, over phone banking.
- › Request a cheque book, an emailed statement or a duplicate statement.
- › Regenerate your debit card ATM PIN or your internet banking password, and block your internet banking user ID.
- › Hotlist a lost or stolen credit, debit or prepaid card on the 24x7 emergency line +91 22 6798 7700, or by texting BLOCKCARD and the last four digits to 56161600.
- › Seed your Aadhaar and register for e-statements.
- › Lodge a complaint, raise a dispute or report a fraud through Axis Support, web chat, internet banking, mobile banking, a branch, a loan centre or the bank’s social media handles.
- › Track a complaint or service request, or call 1800 419 0068 for its status.
- › Book an FD or RD, manage a credit card limit, convert a transaction to EMI or block a card on WhatsApp.
Keep these ready before you call — your loan or account number, registered mobile number, the exact date and amount of the transaction in question, and any earlier complaint reference number. Ask for a reference number before the call ends and note the agent's name: without a reference, an escalation has nothing to attach to.
Axis Bank grievance redressal — officer, address and timelines
RBI requires every regulated lender to appoint and publish a Grievance Redressal / Nodal Officer, both on its website and inside its app. This is who you write to when customer care has failed — and the step you must complete before the Ombudsman will hear you.
