IndusInd Bank Avios Visa Infinite Credit Card Review: Qatar or BA Avios
The IndusInd Bank Avios Visa Infinite Credit Card costs ₹10,000 plus GST to join and ₹5,000 plus GST a year, and no amount of spending waives it. It earns Avios in Qatar Airways Privilege Club or British Airways Executive Club, with 6 Avios per ₹200 at shops in the one foreign region you pick, where the forex mark-up drops to 1.5%. IndusInd publishes no rupee value for an Avios, so the card pays only if you will fly on those miles.

What the Avios Visa Infinite card is
This is IndusInd Bank's metal travel card on the Visa network, and it doesn't pay in bank points. It pays in Avios, the miles currency shared by Qatar Airways Privilege Club and British Airways Executive Club. You choose one of the two programmes and your Avios go there, so the card is really meant for somebody who already fly these airlines or plans to start.
There is a second choice to make. You pick a preferred international destination from 5 regions, and point-of-sale spends in that region earn double while the forex mark-up falls to 1.5%. Anywhere else abroad it's the normal earn and a 3.5% mark-up. The region can be changed only after a anniversary year, so pick the place you actually visit most, not the one you dream about.
Three things that decide it
- A fee with no way out. ₹10,000 to join and ₹5,000 at every renewal, GST on top, and the MITC lists no spend-based waiver. IndusInd also say the actual fee is conveyed when you apply, so the number on your offer screen is the one to trust.
- Large bonus Avios. 20,000 as a welcome bonus once the joining fee is received, 18,000 after the first ₹8,00,000 of spend in a year, 18,000 more after the second ₹8,00,000, and 5,000 on each renewal. IndusInd gives welcome gifts only on select fee plans, so confirm yours carries the 20,000.
- Lounges with no spend test. 2 domestic visits and 2 Priority Pass visits outside India in each calendar quarter. Avios is not on IndusInd's April 2026 list of cards whose lounge access became spend-based, which matters. Which is a relief for many frequent flyers.
Status and recent changes
The card is active and accepting applications through Indus Easy Credit. On 5 May 2024 IndusInd set its fuel surcharge waiver at 1% on fills between ₹500 and ₹10,000, and for this card there is no monthly cap on it. From 21 December 2025 the bank discontinued air accident insurance on all of its credit cards. The Avios card page still talks about an air accident travel cover, but we would not treat it as a benefit any more.
The widest change came on 15 June 2026. New late-fee slabs started, and IndusInd begun charging 1% plus GST on fuel spends above ₹50,000 in a statement cycle, on rail, bus and other non-air transport above ₹40,000, and on dynamic currency conversion.
What the Avios card costs
The MITC puts the joining fee at ₹10,000 and the annual fee at ₹5,000, with GST charged extra on both. At the 18% GST rate the first payment becomes ₹11,800 (₹10,000 plus ₹1,800) and every renewal ₹5,900 (₹5,000 plus ₹900). Add-on cards comes free of charge.
No spend waives the fee, there is no target to chase and the renewal bill come every year whether you use the card or not. What you get for it is 5,000 bonus Avios, credited 15 days after IndusInd receives the renewal fee. Because the bank says the fee is confirmed during the application, check the figure shown before you sign digitally.
Interest, late fees and cash
- Interest is 3% a month, or 36% a year, noticeably lower than the 3.95% a month on IndusInd's Platinum range. Still, carrying ₹50,000 for one month cost about ₹1,500 (3% of ₹50,000) before GST.
- Late fees follow the slabs in force from 15 June 2026. Nothing is charged if the amount outstanding is up to ₹100; a balance between ₹1,001 and ₹5,000 draws ₹600, one between ₹25,001 and ₹50,000 draws ₹1,100, and anything above ₹50,000 draws ₹1,300.
- The cash advance fee is waived on this card, unlike most of IndusInd's range. Interest still starts from the day of withdrawal, so ₹10,000 of cash kept for a month means roughly ₹300 of interest (3% of ₹10,000).
- Going over the limit costs 2.5% of the excess with a ₹500 minimum. A returned payment is ₹250 and paying cash at an IndusInd branch is ₹100.
Forex and your preferred region
The MITC gives 1.5% only on POS transactions in your preferred destination and 3.5% at all other destinations, so don't assume an online booking with a foreign merchant gets the lower rate. Spend ₹1,00,000 at shops in your region and the mark-up is ₹1,500 (1.5% of ₹1,00,000); the same spend in another country costs ₹3,500 (3.5% of ₹1,00,000), GST extra in both case.
From 15 June 2026 there is also a 1% plus GST fee on dynamic currency conversion, meaning rupee transactions at international locations or at merchants registered overseas. When a terminal abroad offers to charge you in rupees, say no and pay in the local currency.
Category fees
Some spends draw 1% plus GST once the statement cycle's total passes a threshold. Utility payments above ₹25,000, wallet loads above ₹20,000 and education fees paid through third-party sites or apps above ₹45,000 are in this list. Since 15 June 2026 fuel above ₹50,000 and the transport codes MCC 4111, 4112, 4784 and 4131 beyond ₹40,000 have joined it. Rent paid through third-party merchants, which carries 1% on most IndusInd cards, is not charged on the Avios Visa Infinite according to the MITC.

How the Avios add up
Earning is count per ₹200 spent, and the rate depends on where and how you pay.
- 3 Avios per ₹200 on domestic spends, on spends in other international destinations and on everything else not listed below.
- 6 Avios per ₹200 on point-of-sale spends in your preferred international destination. These are earned only on spends up to your assigned credit limit in each statement cycle.
- 5 Avios per ₹200 on the Qatar Airways and British Airways websites and apps.
- 3 Avios per ₹200 on online spends in the preferred destination, so online gets no extra there.
- 1 Avios per ₹200 on utilities, government services, education and insurance.
- No Avios on fuel at all.
Put per ₹100, the base rate of 3 per ₹200 is 1.5 Avios per ₹100, and the region rate of 6 per ₹200 is 3 per ₹100. IndusInd does not publish what an Avios is worth in rupees; redemption and expiry both follow the airline programme's own terms, and the MITC shows no redemption fee on this card. So the examples below can't give a rupee figure. Instead they show how many paise each Avios has to be worth for the card to pay back its fee, which is honest way to judge it.
Welcome, milestone and renewal bonuses
- Welcome: 20,000 bonus Avios, credited 15 days after the joining fee is received, in either programme, on fee plans that carry the welcome benefit.
- Milestones: 18,000 bonus Avios after the first ₹8,00,000 of spends in a year and 18,000 more after the second ₹8,00,000, with a ceiling of 36,000 bonus Avios a year. The second milestone falls at ₹16,00,000 (₹8,00,000 x 2).
- Renewal: 5,000 bonus Avios 15 days after the renewal fee is received.
- Other perks: 2 complimentary international meet-and-greet services a year, up to 10% off Qatar Airways flights starting in India with a promo code if you chose Privilege Club, and an elderly care concierge, the services you have to pay yourself only.
Light spender: ₹30,000 a month, no trips abroad
| Spend a month | Working | Avios |
|---|---|---|
| ₹24,000 shopping, dining and other spends | 24,000 ÷ 200 x 3 | 360 |
| ₹4,000 utilities and insurance | 4,000 ÷ 200 x 1 | 20 |
| ₹2,000 fuel | Excluded | 0 |
| One year | (360 + 20) x 12 | 4,560 |
| Renewal bonus (year two) | Fixed | 5,000 |
| Year two total | 4,560 + 5,000 | 9,560 |
A year's spend here is ₹3,60,000 (₹30,000 x 12), far short of the first milestone. Against the ₹5,900 renewal, each Avios has to be worth about ₹0.62 (₹5,900 ÷ 9,560) just to break even. That is a lot to ask of a mile, and this person would be better with a cheaper card.
Typical spender: ₹75,000 a month with regular airline bookings
| Spend a month | Working | Avios |
|---|---|---|
| ₹55,000 general domestic spends | 55,000 ÷ 200 x 3 | 825 |
| ₹10,000 on Qatar Airways or British Airways sites | 10,000 ÷ 200 x 5 | 250 |
| ₹6,000 utilities, insurance and education | 6,000 ÷ 200 x 1 | 30 |
| ₹4,000 fuel | Excluded | 0 |
| One year | (825 + 250 + 30) x 12 | 13,260 |
| First milestone | Yearly spend passes ₹8,00,000 | 18,000 |
| Year two total with renewal bonus | 13,260 + 18,000 + 5,000 | 36,260 |
Yearly spend is ₹9,00,000 (₹75,000 x 12), or ₹8,52,000 (₹75,000 minus ₹4,000 of fuel, x 12) if fuel turns out not to count, past ₹8,00,000 either way. IndusInd doesn't spell out which spends count towards milestones, so ask. For this person very much benefit is there, the break-even falls to about ₹0.16 an Avios (₹5,900 ÷ 36,260). In year one the 20,000 welcome Avios replace the renewal bonus and the fee is ₹11,800, giving 51,260 Avios (13,260 + 18,000 + 20,000) and a break-even near ₹0.23 (₹11,800 ÷ 51,260).
Heavy spender: ₹1,50,000 a month including trips to your region
| Spend a year | Working | Avios |
|---|---|---|
| ₹12,00,000 domestic spends | 12,00,000 ÷ 200 x 3 | 18,000 |
| ₹2,40,000 on airline sites | 2,40,000 ÷ 200 x 5 | 6,000 |
| ₹2,40,000 at shops in your region | 2,40,000 ÷ 200 x 6 | 7,200 |
| ₹1,20,000 utilities and insurance | 1,20,000 ÷ 200 x 1 | 600 |
| Both milestones on ₹18,00,000 | 18,000 + 18,000 | 36,000 |
| Renewal bonus | Fixed | 5,000 |
| Year two total | 18,000 + 6,000 + 7,200 + 600 + 36,000 + 5,000 | 72,800 |
The four spend lines add to ₹18,00,000, which is ₹1,50,000 a month (₹18,00,000 ÷ 12), so both milestones pay. Break-even drops to about ₹0.08 an Avios (₹5,900 ÷ 72,800). The forex saving is also real: ₹2,40,000 at 1.5% costs ₹3,600, against ₹8,400 at 3.5%, so ₹4,800 is saved before GST (₹8,400 minus ₹3,600). The 6-Avios rate stops at your credit limit each cycle though, so a big trip on a small limit earn less.

Eligibility and applying for the Avios card
IndusInd has not published separate eligibility for this card. The criteria on its credit card listing page are general ones for Indus Easy Credit cards: age between 18 and 70, a net monthly income of at least ₹20,000, which works out to ₹2,40,000 a year (₹20,000 x 12), salaried or self-employed both welcome, and a good CIBIL score. For a metal card with a ₹10,000 joining fee, the bank may well apply internal criteria which it don't publish, so treat these as the floor and not the full picture.
Documents you need
- Your Aadhaar number and PAN. The online application is fully digital and finished by Video KYC.
- A proof of residence, only if the address you live at now is different to the one on Aadhaar.
How the application goes
You apply through Indus Easy Credit: fill basic details, choose the card offer shown to you, sign digitally and complete the Video KYC call. The offer screen is where you will see about your fee plan, so read it slowly. If anything there is unclear, call IndusInd and discuss about it before signing. If IndusInd approves you, a virtual card can be generated straight away and the physical metal card reaches in about 5 days.
What IndusInd looks at
Under the RBI's 2025 card Directions, the bank must assess your credit risk on your own independent financial means and set the limit after counting every card limit you already hold with other lenders. The RBI fixes no minimum income or age; those are the bank's choices, and the decision to issue is IndusInd's alone. You should get a one-page Key Fact Statement with the application, and if refused, the specific reasons in writing.
Your limit matters more on this card than on most, since the 6-Avios region rate only count up to the assigned limit each statement cycle.

Who this card suits, and who should pass
The card makes sense for a narrow but real group. If you already redeem Avios on Qatar Airways or British Airways, spend about as much as our typical example of ₹75,000 a month, and travel at least once a year to one region, the bonuses and the 1.5% POS mark-up start to work together. Our typical example needed each Avios to be worth only about ₹0.16 to cover the renewal, which most people who regularly redeem miles would feel comfortable about.
Skip it if you mostly spend in India on fuel, bills and insurance. Fuel earns nothing, the bill categories earn just 1 Avios per ₹200, and the light example needed about ₹0.62 per Avios to break even, which is a costly price for one mile. Skip it also if you like cash back you can see on the statement. Avios have no rupee value from the bank and can only be used under the airline's rules.
The trade-offs in one place
What you give up is flexibility: a fixed ₹5,000 plus GST every year, one airline family, and a low forex rate which is working in one region only. What you get is a card with no spend test on 16 lounge visits a year (2 domestic plus 2 international, times 4 quarters), no cash advance fee, no rent fee, no redemption fee and a 3% monthly interest rate that is mild by IndusInd standards. If you sometimes carry a balance, that last point matter more than people think, though no card's interest is cheap.
One honest warning. The air accident cover that the card page still mentions should be ignored, IndusInd ended it across its cards from 21 December 2025. Buy separate travel insurance if you need that protection.
Pros
- 6 Avios per ₹200 on POS spends in your chosen international region, where the forex mark-up is 1.5%
- Bonus Avios that scale with spend: 18,000 at ₹8,00,000 a year and 18,000 more at the second ₹8,00,000
- 2 domestic and 2 Priority Pass international lounge visits each calendar quarter, with no spend condition published
- Cash advance fee waived, and interest of 3% a month is lower than the 3.95% on IndusInd Platinum cards
- No rent fee and no reward redemption fee on this card, per the MITC
Cons
- ₹10,000 joining fee and ₹5,000 annual fee plus GST, with no spend-based waiver
- IndusInd publishes no rupee value for an Avios, and expiry follows the airline programme
- 3.5% forex mark-up everywhere except POS spends in your chosen region
- No Avios on fuel and only 1 per ₹200 on utilities, government services, education and insurance
- Air accident insurance ended on 21 December 2025, though the card page still describes it
How it compares with other airline cards
Three cards from our list solve the same problem of earning miles on everyday spends, each one in different way.
Emirates Skywards ICICI Bank Sapphiro
The Emirates Skywards ICICI Sapphiro charges ₹5,000 plus GST to join and the same every year, also with no spend waiver. Since 15 January 2026 it earns 1.5 Skywards Miles per ₹100, the same pace as the Avios card's 3 per ₹200. You get 5,000 Miles on paying the joining fee and 5,000 a year only after ₹5 lakh of spend. Its forex mark-up is 3.5% everywhere, domestic lounges need ₹75,000 of spend in the preceding quarter, and ICICI asks salaried applicants for ₹1,50,000 a month.
HSBC TravelOne
The HSBC TravelOne costs ₹4,999 and reverses it when you spend more than ₹8,00,000 in the anniversary year. It earns 2 points per ₹100 and 4 per ₹100 on flights, travel aggregators and foreign currency spends, and HSBC lists British Airways among its 1:1 transfer partners alongside Air India Maharaja Club, Flying Blue and Etihad. On paper that is 2 Avios per ₹100, more than IndusInd's 1.5, though HSBC also publish no rupee value. Lounges are 6 domestic and 4 international a year, and forex is 3.5%.
Axis Bank Horizon
The Axis Bank Horizon is the cheapest of the four at ₹3,000 plus GST, though it has no spend waiver either. It earns 2 EDGE Miles per ₹100, 5 per ₹100 on Travel EDGE and airline websites, and Axis values an EDGE Mile at ₹1 on its own chart. Lounge access are generous, 8 domestic visits a quarter on the Visa variant and 2 international a quarter, with forex at 3.5%.
Which one to pick
Choose the Avios Visa Infinite if you are loyal to Qatar Airways or British Airways and spend in one foreign region often. Choose TravelOne if you are wanting the option to move points to several airlines and a fee you can waive. Horizon suits someone who wants a lower fee and a published value, and the Emirates card is for Emirates flyers only.
