Kotak League Platinum Credit Card Review: Double Points After ₹2 Lakh
The Kotak League Platinum Credit Card charges ₹499 + GST to join and each year, with the annual fee waived on ₹50,000 of retail spends. A point is worth ₹0.10 in the catalogue but only ₹0.07 as cash since June 2025, so it rewards steady, higher spenders.

What the League Platinum is
League Platinum is Kotak Mahindra Bank's entry rewards card. The MITC puts the joining fee and annual fee at ₹499 each, plus GST, and the annual fee goes away if you spend ₹50,000 in the card year. Kotak's card listing page is showing ₹0 for both right now, but that's a limited-time or channel offer, not the standard fee, so don't count on it.
Three things shapes the value. The earn rate start low, 4 points per ₹150, and doubles to 8 on travel, electronics, durable goods and department stores, and on all eligible spends after ₹2 lakh in a card year. The PVR milestone pays 4 tickets or 10,000 points for each ₹1,25,000 spent in six months. And a point's cash value fell to ₹0.07 on 1 June 2025, so the catalogue at ₹0.10 is more better route.
The card is active and open to new applicants. Kotak's card issuing was frozen by the RBI on 24 April 2024 over IT deficiencies and allowed again from 12 February 2025, so fresh applications are back to normal. The network isn't stated, and the bank doesn't say if a RuPay version for UPI exist. See the full range on our Kotak credit cards page.
Changes from 1 June 2025
- Cash redemption cut from ₹0.10 to ₹0.07 a point, with a 2,000-point minimum.
- No points on wallet loads, online skill gaming, insurance, government, rent, education and fuel, and these spends no longer count for milestones.
- Utility points only up to ₹35,000 a statement cycle, and the fuel surcharge waiver limited to fills of ₹500 to ₹4,000, at most ₹3,500 a year.
League Platinum fees, line by line
Joining fee ₹499 + GST, annual fee ₹499 + GST. With 18% GST each comes to ₹588.82 (₹499 plus ₹89.82). The annual fee is waived when retail spends in the card anniversary year reach ₹50,000, which is ₹4,166.67 a month, call it ₹4,167 (₹50,000 divided by 12). Most people who use it as a main card will cross that without trying; it's only a drawer card that end up paying. Add-on cards are free.
Interest, late fee and cash
Interest is 3.75% a month, 45% a year, as per the Key Fact Statement. You get up to 51 days interest-free if the last bill was paid in full. Late fees goes by slabs of the amount due:
- Up to ₹100: nil; above ₹100 to ₹500: ₹100; above ₹500 to ₹1,000: ₹500; above ₹1,000 to ₹5,000: ₹600.
- Above ₹5,000 to ₹10,000: ₹750; above ₹10,000 to ₹25,000: ₹900; above ₹25,000 to ₹50,000: ₹1,100; above ₹50,000: ₹1,300.
Cash advance cost 2.5% of the amount with a ₹500 minimum, and interest starts from the day you withdraw. On ₹10,000, 2.5% is ₹250, so you pay the ₹500 minimum, plus GST on both fee and interest. Over-limit is ₹500 when you exceed the limit by ₹500 or more.
Forex and category fees
Foreign currency spends carries a 3.5% markup, and dynamic currency conversion is also 3.5%. ₹20,000 spent abroad means ₹700 in markup (3.5% of ₹20,000) plus GST.
- Rent: 1% of every rent payment plus GST.
- Utilities: 1% on the total once they cross ₹35,000 in a cycle; fuel: 1% above ₹25,000.
- Wallet loads and online skill gaming: 1% each above ₹10,000 a cycle. Education through third-party apps: 1% on all of it.
- Card replacement ₹100, cash payment at a branch ₹100. Kotak doesn't publish a redemption fee for this card.

Points, values and the milestone
Points are given only on whole multiples of ₹150 in each transaction. So a ₹299 bill earns the same as ₹150, and a ₹140 coffee earns nothing at all, which is little irritating for small spends.
- 4 points per ₹150: all eligible spends until you cross ₹2 lakh in the card anniversary year.
- 8 points per ₹150: special categories always (travel agencies and tour operators, airlines, electric sales, durable goods and department stores), and all eligible spends of ₹2 lakh and above in the card year.
- No points: insurance, education, government, rent, fuel, wallet, online gaming, railways, EMI, cash advances and fees. Utilities earn only up to ₹35,000 a cycle.
What a point is worth depend on how you redeem. The Kotak Rewards catalogue (recharges, shopping, vouchers, travel) gives ₹0.10; cash against the bill gives ₹0.07, minimum 2,000 points. So 4 points per ₹150 is ₹0.40 in the catalogue (4 at ₹0.10), about 0.27% of ₹150, or ₹0.28 as cash (4 at ₹0.07), about 0.19%. At 8 points it's ₹0.80 (0.53%) in the catalogue or ₹0.56 (0.37%) in cash. Points expire 2 years after they're earned.
Welcome gift is 5,000 points, worth ₹500, once the joining fee is paid; Nil-fee offer cards doesn't get it. The milestone: spend ₹1,25,000 in each 6-month period (about ₹20,833 a month, ₹1,25,000 divided by 6) and pick 4 PVR tickets of up to ₹400 each or 10,000 points, claimed within 3 months, at most 8 tickets a year. Four tickets at ₹400 is ₹1,600, while 10,000 points is ₹1,000 in the catalogue, so movie fans should take the tickets.
Worked examples
We use spends that are multiples of ₹150, and to keep it conservative we pay 8 points on everything only from the first full month after you cross ₹2 lakh.
- Light, ₹6,000 a month: ₹1,500 at a department store is 10 lots of ₹150 at 8 points, 80; ₹4,500 elsewhere is 30 lots at 4, 120. That's 200 a month, 2,400 a year (200 times 12), so ₹240 in the catalogue (2,400 at ₹0.10) or ₹168 in cash (2,400 at ₹0.07). Yearly spend of ₹72,000 is above ₹50,000, so no annual fee from year two. In year one you pay ₹588.82, get 5,000 welcome points (₹500), and end up ₹151.18 ahead (₹500 plus ₹240 minus ₹588.82).
- Typical, ₹30,000 a month: ₹7,500 special is 50 lots at 8, 400; ₹22,500 other is 150 lots at 4, 600; so 1,000 a month. After 6 months you're at ₹1,80,000 and cross ₹2 lakh in month 7. Months 1 to 7 give 7,000 points (1,000 times 7); months 8 to 12 give 1,600 a month (200 lots at 8), so 8,000 (1,600 times 5). Two milestones add 20,000, since ₹30,000 times 6 is ₹1,80,000, above ₹1,25,000 each half-year. Total 35,000 points (7,000 + 8,000 + 20,000), ₹3,500 in the catalogue or ₹2,450 in cash; ₹3,500 out of ₹3,60,000 spent is about 0.97%.
- Heavy, ₹60,000 a month: ₹15,000 special is 100 lots at 8, 800; ₹45,000 other is 300 lots at 4, 1,200; so 2,000 a month for months 1 to 4 (8,000). Months 5 to 12 give 3,200 a month (400 lots at 8), 25,600 in all (3,200 times 8). Milestones still cap at two, 20,000. Total 53,600 points (8,000 + 25,600 + 20,000), ₹5,360 at ₹0.10 or ₹3,752 at ₹0.07; ₹5,360 out of ₹7,20,000 is about 0.74%.
| Spender | Monthly spend | Points a year | Catalogue value | Cash value | Annual fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | ₹6,000 | 2,400 | ₹240 | ₹168 | Waived from year two |
| Typical | ₹30,000 | 35,000 | ₹3,500 | ₹2,450 | Waived from year two |
| Heavy | ₹60,000 | 53,600 | ₹5,360 | ₹3,752 | Waived from year two |
Choosing PVR tickets instead lift the typical spender's year to ₹4,700: 8 tickets worth up to ₹3,200 plus 15,000 points (₹1,500).

Who can apply for League Platinum
Kotak's card page lists these rules, without splitting salaried and self-employed applicants:
- Primary cardholder aged 21 to 60; add-on cardholders 18 or above.
- Income of ₹5 lakh or more a year, roughly ₹41,667 a month (₹5,00,000 divided by 12).
- Resident of India living in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi (including Gurgaon and Noida), Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai or Pune. Outside these cities the card isn't offered.
Documents and how to apply
Keep ready proof of identity, age and address, income proof or employment details, and your PAN card. Online, you share name, phone number, PAN and Aadhaar, finish Video KYC and receives a virtual card. You can also applying at a Kotak branch or through the bank's representatives.
A word on those representatives: under RBI rules only the bank decide whether to issue a card, agents can only solicit and service. A card you didn't ask for is not allowed, and if one is billed without consent the bank must reverse charges and pay a penalty of twice the amount.
What Kotak will weigh
The RBI asks issuers to assess you on your own financial means and to factor in limits you hold with other lenders; it sets no minimum income or age itself. An Experian score above 750 is generally considered good on a 300 to 900 scale. If the bank declines, it has to tell you the reasons in writing. No one can promise approval. For help, call 1800 4100 or check our Kotak customer care page.

Who League Platinum works for
This card reward people who put a fair amount through one card. If you live in one of the 10 cities, earn ₹5 lakh or more and spend ₹25,000 to ₹60,000 a month, you cross ₹2 lakh in the year, hit both milestones and get roughly 0.75% to 1% back in the catalogue, going by our examples. Add a liking for PVR and the tickets lift it further.
Light users get much less. At ₹6,000 a month the card return ₹240 a year, and if you drop below ₹4,167 a month you're paying ₹588.82 for very little. It's also a poor fit for foreign spends at 3.5% markup, and for anyone whose budget is mostly rent, fuel, insurance or bills, as these earns nothing.
Trade-offs
The cash route at ₹0.07 is weak, so plan to redeem in the catalogue. The ₹150 rounding quietly trims small transactions. And spends in the excluded categories don't move you towards the milestone, so a ₹1,25,000 half-year has to be real shopping. There's no lounge benefit or insurance published either. Somebody who only want a backup card for emergencies will find a free card from another bank simpler, since this one only pays off when it's used a lot.
Pros
- Annual fee waived on ₹50,000 of retail spends a year, about ₹4,167 a month
- 8 points per ₹150 on all eligible spends once you cross ₹2 lakh in a card year
- 4 PVR tickets or 10,000 points for every ₹1,25,000 spent in six months
- Free add-on cards
- Fuel surcharge waiver up to ₹3,500 a year on fills of ₹500 to ₹4,000
Cons
- Cash value of a point cut to ₹0.07 from 1 June 2025
- Base rate of 4 points per ₹150 is about 0.27% even at catalogue value
- 3.5% forex markup and no lounge benefit published
- No points on rent, fuel, insurance, education, government, wallet, gaming or railways
- Only offered in 10 listed cities
League Platinum against similar cards
For a low-fee everyday card, these three are the obvious comparisons. The table below lines up fees, earn and forex.
League Platinum or Kotak Cashback+
Kotak's own Cashback+ costs ₹750 + GST, waived at ₹2 lakh, and pays 5% on online food delivery, online grocery and OTT, 3% on fuel and 0.5% elsewhere, with a ₹750 cap a cycle on the boosted part. Cash is cash, no need of catalogue. If your spending is food apps and fuel, Cashback+ wins; if it's department stores, electronics and travel bookings, League does.
League Platinum or SBI SimplySAVE
SimplySAVE SBI Card also charges ₹499 + taxes, reversed at ₹1 lakh a year. It gives 10 points per ₹150 on dining, movies, department stores and groceries, capped at 5,000 points a month, and 1 point per ₹150 elsewhere. At ₹0.25 per point as statement credit, 10 points is about 1.67%, but the base is only 0.17%. SimplySAVE is better for food and groceries; League is better once your spends are large and broad.
League Platinum or ICICI Coral
ICICI Bank Coral costs ₹500 + GST, reversed for that year on ₹1.5 lakh of spends (its card page words it as next year's fee). It gives 2 points per ₹100, though ICICI publish no point value, plus a domestic lounge visit a quarter after ₹75,000 spent the quarter before. Coral suits people who want a lounge; League suits movie-goers chasing the PVR milestone.
