How True Balance EMI Is Calculated
An EMI (Equated Monthly Instalment) is the fixed amount you repay each month — part interest, part principal. True Balance uses the standard reducing-balance formula, so the interest portion shrinks every month as your outstanding balance falls.
- P = principal (the amount you borrow)
- r = monthly interest rate = annual rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100 (here, 28.8% ÷ 12 = 2.40%)
- n = number of monthly instalments (the tenure)
How to Lower Your True Balance EMI
Choose a longer tenure
Spreading the loan over more months cuts each EMI — but raises total interest, so balance affordability against cost.
Borrow only what you need
A smaller principal means a smaller EMI. Avoid topping up just because a higher limit is offered.
Improve your credit score
A higher CIBIL score can earn a lower rate than 28.8% - 36% p.a., directly reducing your EMI.
Prepay when you can
Part-prepaying early in the tenure lowers the outstanding balance and the interest you pay on every future EMI.
