2 Lakh Loan Without Income Proof, Salary Slips - Eligibility & How to Apply

An unsecured ₹2 lakh loan with no income documents is uncommon, and adverts promising one deserve suspicion. What works instead: an offer based on your history with a lender, bank statements in place of salary slips, ITR if you're self-employed, a co-applicant, or a loan against gold, a fixed deposit or an insurance policy. In our example ₹1,95,280 reaches you; the total cost runs from ₹20,209 to ₹87,197.

Should home repairs or a family wedding go on an unsecured ₹2 lakh loan?

₹2 lakh is a project budget: waterproofing a roof before the monsoon, rewiring an old flat, or a caterer's advance and guests' travel for a family wedding. Unsecured credit suits a one-off cost you can repay from income over 12 to 36 months.

Price family gold or deposits first. RBI caps a consumption gold loan at 85% of the collateral's value for borrowings up to ₹2.5 lakh, counting only the gold, not stones, so ₹2 lakh needs gold worth about ₹2.35 lakh. RBI requires a detailed repayment-capacity check only above ₹2.5 lakh, though Unity SFB's gold-loan page still asks for an income source. Unity quotes 12–18% on gold loans against 16–30% on personal loans. A bank's own explainer puts FD loans at 75–90% of the deposit, normally 2 points above the deposit rate.

How much does a ₹2 lakh loan cost in total?

Our table deducts a 2% fee (₹4,000) plus 18% GST on it (₹720) at disbursal, so ₹1,95,280 reaches you while interest accrues on ₹2 lakh. At this size rate and term matter more than the fee: 14% over 12 months costs ₹20,209 in all, 24% over 36 months ₹87,197.

Actual fees can be steeper. Kissht's row allows up to 5% and True Balance's 8.5%, up to ₹10,000 and ₹17,000 on ₹2 lakh before any GST; mPokket charges 3.75% plus GST. Compare the APR in the Key Fact Statement, which folds everything in.

₹2 lakh: ₹4,000 fee + ₹720 GST = ₹4,720 upfront, ₹1,95,280 received · weekly = EMI × 12 ÷ 52.

How big are the EMIs on ₹2 lakh over one to three years?

At 14% a year the EMI is ₹17,957 over 12 months, ₹9,603 over 24 and ₹6,836 over 36. At 24%, the same terms cost ₹18,912, ₹10,574 and ₹7,847 a month. Over 36 months at 24%, interest reaches ₹82,477, roughly 41% of the sum borrowed.

Wedding EMIs outlast the function; size the term to an EMI you can carry without a second loan.

Late payment brings penal charges listed in the KFS; Unity SFB's gold loans, for instance, add 2% a month on overdue amounts and ₹500 per bounced EMI.

What do lenders accept instead of salary slips for ₹2 lakh?

Lenders use five substitutes for payslips. History: LazyPay's XpressLoan is in practice for existing users, since eligibility rests on your history with the app, and banks pre-approve some existing customers, sometimes with no fresh paperwork. Statements: Kissht wants income proof only on some high-value loans, via an account aggregator or PDF, and Unity SFB lists six months of statements. Tax papers: mPokket accepts ITR, Form 16 or business income proof. A co-applicant with stable income can strengthen your file. Collateral is the fifth.

Stated monthly incomes in our data: ₹9,000 (mPokket), ₹10,000 (Unity SFB), ₹15,000 (Kissht), ₹20,000 (True Balance), ₹30,000 (LazyPay). Unity calls a CIBIL score of 780 good.

Bank or NBFC app: how do the five lenders differ at ₹2 lakh?

Unity Small Finance Bank, the only bank here, lends from its own book: ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh over 12 to 36 months, a fee of up to 4% and an APR band of 18.54–37.71% in our data. Its site offers a three-day rethink after disbursal.

The other four are NBFC-backed apps. Kissht (Si Creva Capital Services and partners) runs 6 to 60 months, with fees up to 5% and APR from 19%. True Balance (True Credits and partner NBFCs) and mPokket (its own NBFC) stop at exactly ₹2 lakh over 6 to 24 months, with APRs of 28.8–78% and 22–36%; mPokket's policy lists 22–24% interest above ₹1 lakh. LazyPay offers 3 to 24 months at 2%, but its row names no lender or APR, so find both in the KFS. Only Kissht and Unity reach 36 months.

What should you do, step by step, before borrowing ₹2 lakh?

Start with what the family owns, then compare lenders.

  1. 1

Get written quotes from the contractor, caterer or jeweller; borrow only the shortfall.

  2. 2

Ask the bank holding your FD about a loan or overdraft against it, and get family gold appraised.

  3. 3

For unsecured credit, check offers already in apps or banks you use; apply to two lenders at most.

  4. 4

Keep PAN, Aadhaar, six months of statements and, if self-employed, ITR or Form 16 ready.

  5. 5

Read the KFS for APR, deductions, lock-in, prepayment charges and cooling-off period.

  6. 6

Check the funds landed in your own account, and set the EMI date just after income arrives.

What dangers come with a ₹2 lakh loan, secured or not?

Instant ₹2 lakh, no-documents adverts are the first danger. Experts quoted by Business Standard list warning signs: contact over WhatsApp or Telegram, APK files or web links, aggressive selling, and disbursal without proper KYC. Under RBI rules no fee missing from your KFS can be charged without your consent, and repayments go straight into the lender's own account.

Secured loans have risks too. A gold loan's LTV must hold for the whole tenor, so falling gold prices can bring a margin call, and unpaid pledges may be auctioned. After full repayment, jewellery must come back within seven working days, or the lender pays ₹5,000 for each day of delay it causes.

₹2 lakh loan without income proof: FAQs

How much gold do I need to pledge for a ₹2 lakh gold loan?
Gold valued at roughly ₹2.35 lakh or more, given RBI's 85% cap on consumption loans up to ₹2.5 lakh per borrower. Only the metal counts, priced at the lower of its 30-day average and the previous day's rate for that purity. Gold loans repaid in one go at maturity are capped at 12 months.
Can a family member be a co-applicant on a ₹2 lakh loan?
Where the lender allows it, yes. Business Standard notes that a co-applicant with stable income or a good credit history can strengthen an application. But co-applicants are jointly liable, so if you can't pay, they must. Ask first, as not every lender takes one.
Is a loan against an FD or an LIC policy a better route?
Often, if your savings cover the need. One bank's explainer says FD loans offer lower rates and easier eligibility than other loans, and Unity SFB gives an overdraft against its FDs without breaking them. LIC lends up to 90% of an in-force policy's surrender value. Neither depends on salary slips.
Can I clear a ₹2 lakh loan early with wedding gift money?
Check the KFS first. RBI's ban on prepayment charges, for loans from 1 January 2026, covers floating-rate, non-business loans to individuals; Unity SFB's personal-loan rate is fixed, with a six-month lock-in and 5% of the remaining amount after that. mPokket charges 4.75% plus GST on principal prepaid for loans disbursed from 20 September 2026.
Should I borrow ₹2 lakh from a bank or an NBFC app?
Compare APRs, not labels. Unity SFB, the bank here, lends from ₹1 lakh against a six-month statement and calls a CIBIL score of 780 good, though lower scores may qualify with conditions. The apps vary widely: True Balance's APR in our data reaches 78%.
Is an ad offering ₹2 lakh with no documents genuine?
Treat it as a likely fraud. Even app lenders must collect your occupation and income details before lending. Being asked to pay a fee before disbursal is another red flag: genuine fees sit in the KFS, and Unity SFB, for one, deducts its fee from the loan amount. Report such apps on RBI's Sachet portal.
