Fundo Baba Loan App Real or Fake? Fundobaba's Lender and Costs
By Ramesh Kulkarni · Content Writer Edited by BankCreds Content & SEO Team Updated 30 October 2026 Reviewed by BankCreds Financial Experts Fundobaba, the lender many people search for as "Fundo Baba loan", is real. The brand belongs to U.Y. Fincorp Limited, a listed NBFC that appears in RBI's register. There is no Fundobaba app, though. You apply on its website, so any "Fundo Baba app" someone sends you did not come from the company.
Being real doesn't make it cheap. Fundobaba sells loans of 7 to 40 days, takes a 10% fee plus GST up front and charges interest by the day. On the site's own calculator, a sample month-long loan comes to 486.7% APR. Before you e-sign, find three figures in the Key Fact Statement: what reaches your bank, what you repay and the due date.
What we found, in short
- The lender is genuine: U.Y. Fincorp Limited is serial 7878 in RBI's NBFC register (data as on 30 September 2026), under the Kolkata office.
- The link is on record: in an April 2025 filing to the stock exchanges, U.Y. Fincorp said Fundobaba would run on its NBFC licence.
- Website only: neither Google Play nor Apple's App Store has a Fundobaba app.
- Short and costly: the home page lists terms of 7 to 40 days and a 10% fee. A 30-day sample works out at 486.7% APR.
- Pages disagree: the apply page promises an APR of 15% to 35% over 61 to 365 days, which the fees can't match.
The companies behind Fundobaba
Two firms sit behind the brand. The lender is U.Y. Fincorp Limited, a Kolkata NBFC set up in 1993 and listed on the BSE and the Calcutta Stock Exchange since 1995. Its annual report says RBI registered it on 20 April 1998, under number B-05.01596.
The website itself is run by Fintech Cloud Private Limited, based in New Delhi. Fundobaba's footer calls it the "technology partner". U.Y. Fincorp's own filing is clearer: a joint venture dated 9 April 2025 lets Fintech Cloud manage Fundobaba, while lending stays under U.Y. Fincorp's licence. The filing also mentions a ₹20 crore investment, locked in for 3 years.
This is more than most short-loan websites tell you. Plenty never say who lends. Here the lender wrote the brand into a stock exchange filing and into its annual report for FY 2025-26, which is hard to fake.
Don't mix Fundobaba up with similar names. Fundo is an Australian lender with an iPhone app called "Fundo: Fast & Easy Loans", and Loanbaba is unrelated too.
Checking Fundobaba with RBI: what we did
There's no such thing as an RBI-approved website. RBI registers the lender, so the lender's name is what you look up. Here is our route, which anyone can follow.
- Read the terms page. Fundobaba's terms call it "a brand legally registered under U.Y. Fincorp Limited". The about page says the lender is an RBI-registered NBFC.
- Open RBI's register of NBFCs. Ours was the copy with data as on 30 September 2026. RBI's own server timed out, so we read the official file through the Internet Archive.
- Match the entry. U.Y. Fincorp is serial 7878 under the Kolkata regional office. It is a non-deposit-taking lender in the base layer, which fits its own report.
- Check from the lender's end. U.Y. Fincorp's stock exchange filing and annual report both name Fundobaba. That ties the brand to the licence.
- Look for a digital lending page. We found no page on U.Y. Fincorp's website that lists its lending apps or service partners.
- Try RBI's Digital Lending Apps directory. It wouldn't load from our server, so Fundobaba's entry there is unconfirmed.
If a stranger offers you a "Fundo Baba" loan over WhatsApp or SMS, report it on Sachet, the RBI portal for unauthorised lending. Our step-by-step guide to checking a loan app with RBI shows the same method for any lender.
Fundobaba fees, interest and tenure
Fundobaba's pages tell two different price stories. The table sets out both, with the page each figure came from.
Term | Published figure | Page |
|---|---|---|
Loan amount | ₹5,000 to ₹1,00,000 | How-it-works page, FAQ and apply page (the home page box says up to ₹1,25,000) |
Tenure | 7 to 40 days | Home page rates box and calculator |
Tenure, second claim | 61 to 365 days | Apply page rates box |
Interest | Charged per day; the calculator runs from 0.5% to 1% a day | Home page calculator |
Processing fee | 10% of the loan, plus 18% GST, taken before payout | Home page and apply page |
APR | 15% to 35% on the apply page; 486.7% in the calculator's sample | Apply page and home page |
Late payment | Charged, but no amount published | Application pages |
Closing early | No pre-closure or prepayment charges | Home page |
Here is what the numbers mean for a ₹10,000 loan. The fee is ₹1,000 and GST on it is ₹180, so ₹1,180 comes off before payout. The apply page says ₹8,900 then reaches you. That's a slip: taking ₹1,180 off ₹10,000 leaves ₹8,820.
Now add interest. The calculator's default is 1% a day for 30 days, which is ₹3,000. With the fee taken first, you'd get ₹8,820 and owe ₹13,000 on day 30, so you hand back ₹4,180 more than you received. The calculator itself shows ₹14,000, because it adds the fee to the bill instead.
What about the apply page's 15% to 35%? It doesn't add up. Even with no interest at all, the fee by itself on a 61-day loan works out above 35% a year. So trust the rupee amounts in your KFS, not either rates box.
Ask yourself one plain question before you go ahead. Can you repay the whole amount, with every charge, on your next salary day? If not, a loan this short can push you into taking another one.
Why Fundo Baba looks suspicious to some borrowers
People get uneasy about Fundobaba for fair reasons. These are the real red flags we found:
- No app at all. Google Play bars personal loans that must be repaid in full within 60 days, and 7 to 40 day loans don't fit that rule. So there's no Play listing to check and no public reviews.
- Pages that contradict each other. Tenure, APR, the top loan amount and even the age limit differ. One page says 21 to 50, another 21 to 58.
- A maths error in the worked example, shown above.
- Two grievance officers. The terms and privacy pages name Karan Kotak, while the pop-up shown at sign-up gives Swati Aggarwal. Both share one number and email.
- Wide consent. By applying, you override your Do Not Call (NDNC) registration, so the company and its lender may call, SMS or WhatsApp you.
- Location tracking. The terms let the company track your location even after you stop using the service, until you've repaid everything.
- Untidy details. The sign-up pop-up calls the lender "U.Y. Fincorp Private Limited", but it is a listed "Limited" company. The lender's phone on Fundobaba's support page also differs from the one on U.Y. Fincorp's own site.
Some requests are normal for any lender. Fundobaba wants PAN, Aadhaar e-KYC, a selfie, two references and bank statements for the last 3 months. It pulls your credit report too, even though the site says a low score "doesn't matter". And it warns borrowers about fake UPI and payment links, which is a good sign.
Fundobaba reviews: why there is so little to read
With no Play listing, Fundobaba has no public star rating and no feed of dated reviews. As of October 2026, there was no Play review data for us to count, sort or check for bursts.
The only reviews we found sit on Fundobaba's own home page, under a "5.0/5" banner. A company picks what it puts there, so we gave them no weight. Lean on the paperwork instead: the KFS, the loan agreement and your own payment receipts.
Fake Fundo Baba apps, links and callers
Because Fundobaba has no app, a fake app is the easiest scam to spot. Use these rules:
- Ignore any "Fundo Baba app". The site's FAQ says you don't need to download anything. An APK file sent over WhatsApp is not from Fundobaba.
- Type the address yourself. Don't apply through a link in an SMS. The real site names U.Y. Fincorp in its terms and footer.
- Never pay before payout. Fundobaba takes its fee out of the loan itself. A request for an upfront "processing fee" is a scam.
- Repay only through the site's own repayment link. Fundobaba warns against fake UPI links and direct bank payments.
- Check the caller's number. The published support line is +91 8882400700, and the site shows no WhatsApp number. If a caller uses another number, hang up and ring the support line yourself.
Got a problem with a Fundobaba loan?
Write everything down: dates, numbers, amounts and screenshots. Then climb this ladder one step at a time.
- Support: the line is staffed Monday to Saturday, 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM, on +91 8882400700. Existing customers can email support@fundobaba.com.
- Grievance officer: Karan Kotak, per the terms page. Email grievance@fundobaba.com or call +91-8655367146.
- The lender: U.Y. Fincorp's contact page names Mr. S. K. Chaturvedi as grievance officer. Its own site gives +91 33 6607 4112, and its registered office is at 16, Strand Road, Kolkata.
- RBI: under U.Y. Fincorp's fair practices code, a complaint still open after one month can go to RBI's regional office. After 30 days you can also go to the RBI Integrated Ombudsman, on 14448 or at cms.rbi.org.in.
- Fraud: if someone takes money by posing as Fundobaba, report it on 1930 at once.
You'll find these contacts together on our Fundobaba customer care page. Keep it handy while a loan is open.
Is Fundobaba right for you?
Fundobaba may suit a salaried person on ₹40,000 a month or more, paid by bank transfer. It works for a small sum over a few weeks, if you can clear it all on your next payday. Borrowing from a named, listed NBFC is also safer than using an app that hides its lender.
It's the wrong choice if you want monthly EMIs or more than 40 days. It's also wrong if you're using one short loan to pay off another. If cost matters most, look at an EMI loan first.
For EMI loans of a similar size from regulated lenders, compare Moneyview, KreditBee and Fibe. For our scores and every term we found, see our full Fundobaba review, or browse all our loan app reviews.
Frequently asked questions
Is Fundo Baba loan real or fake?
Fundobaba is real. U.Y. Fincorp Limited, a registered NBFC, owns the brand, and Fintech Cloud Private Limited runs the website. The lender named Fundobaba in a stock exchange filing dated 9 April 2025 and again in its latest annual report. The worries are about cost and clashing pages, not whether the business exists.
Is Fundobaba RBI registered?
RBI registers lenders, not websites. Fundobaba's lender, U.Y. Fincorp Limited, appears at serial 7878 in the register's September 2026 data, under Kolkata. Its registration number is B-05.01596, from 20 April 1998. RBI's Digital Lending Apps directory wouldn't load for us, so Fundobaba's own entry there is unconfirmed.
How much does a Fundobaba loan cost?
A lot, for a short time. Loans run 7 to 40 days, interest is charged by the day, and a 10% fee plus 18% GST comes off before payout. On ₹10,000 for 30 days at the calculator's 1% a day, you'd get ₹8,820 and repay ₹13,000. The calculator's own sample shows an APR of 486.7%.
What is the Fundobaba customer care number?
As of October 2026, Fundobaba's support number is +91 8882400700, answered from 09:00 AM to 05:30 PM on Monday to Saturday. Existing borrowers can email support@fundobaba.com, and general questions go to info@fundobaba.com. Complaints go to grievance@fundobaba.com or +91-8655367146. Our care page keeps these numbers in one place.
What if a Fundobaba agent harasses me or a fake caller asks for money?
Note the caller's number, the time and what was said, and keep screenshots. Complain in writing to grievance@fundobaba.com and to the lender, U.Y. Fincorp. Never pay a personal UPI ID or an unknown link, since repayment should go only through Fundobaba's own website link. If you're threatened or cheated, call 1930.
Can I repay a Fundobaba loan early?
Yes. Fundobaba's home page says there are no pre-closure or prepayment charges, and since interest is charged by the day, paying early saves money. The pages we read don't describe a cooling-off period for cancelling after payout. Ask support in writing, and check your KFS before you e-sign.
Is there a Fundo Baba app on the Play Store?
No. In October 2026 we searched Google Play and Apple's App Store and found nothing, and the site says no download is needed. Its 7 to 40 day loans are also shorter than Google Play allows for personal loans. Any "Fundo Baba" APK or app link sent to you is not from the company.
