Oro Money Loan App Real or Fake? Gold Loan Lenders Checked
By Pankaj Pandey · Content Writer Edited by BankCreds Content & SEO Team Updated 30 October 2026 Reviewed by BankCreds Financial Experts Oro Money is real. It's a gold loan app from Orocorp Technologies in Chennai. Its loans are funded by Federal Bank or one of three NBFCs on RBI's register. Orocorp doesn't lend itself. It's a lending service provider, and every lender it names mentions Orocorp or Oro Money on its own website.
So the app isn't fake, and the lenders are regulated. Whether it's safe for you depends on one document. Before your jewellery leaves home, read the Key Fact Statement: which lender it names, and what it says about charges and margin calls. Oro's site says no hidden fees, yet its group lender publishes a long list of charges. For scores, see our full Oro Money review.
Oro Money in short
- What it is: a gold loan app, not an instant personal loan app. It takes gold ornaments above 18 karat, not coins or bars.
- Who lends: Federal Bank plus three NBFCs: Tenmark Capital, Sunita Finlease and Kumbhat Financial Services.
- RBI status: Federal Bank is a scheduled private bank. The three NBFCs appear on RBI's register for 30 September 2026.
- Price: interest of 9.90% to 35% a year and an APR no higher than 45%, over 6 to 12 months.
- Main risk: your gold. Ignoring a margin call counts as default with the group lender, and reviewers describe surprise "shortfall" demands.
Orocorp, Tenmark and Federal Bank: who does what
Orocorp Technologies Private Limited builds the app and runs Oro's websites. It was set up in April 2020 and is registered in Chennai. The Play listing is plain about its role: Orocorp is a lending service provider and "does not lend".
The money comes from four lenders:
- The Federal Bank Limited, a private sector bank. Its list of lending partners names Orocorp for gold loans. Oro says pledged jewellery sits in Federal Bank branch lockers, insured with New India Assurance.
- Tenmark Capital Private Limited, a Chennai NBFC. Its partners page names Orocorp for sourcing, onboarding, collections and servicing.
- Kumbhat Financial Services Limited, also in Chennai. It says it gives unsecured personal loans only through the Oro Money app.
- Sunita Finlease Limited, under RBI's Raipur office. It lists Oro Money for personal loans and bridge loans.
Orocorp's annual return for 2023-24 shows a 100% subsidiary carrying the very company number RBI gives for Tenmark. Tenmark is also registered in the same Chennai building as Oro's office. So Tenmark looks like Oro's own group lender, though we couldn't confirm who owned it after March 2024.
The Play listing mentions only gold loans, not Kumbhat's personal loans or Sunita's 7-day bridge loans.
Is Oro Money RBI registered? Check the lender, not the app
Orocorp isn't a lender, so look up the name on your loan papers instead. We checked each lender this way on 30 October 2026.
- Find the lender's name. Your Key Fact Statement and loan agreement should name one of the four lenders above. If they name anyone else, stop.
- Look up a bank on RBI's bank list. RBI's "Banks in India" page places Federal Bank Limited among Indian private sector banks. Banks aren't in the NBFC register, so that gap is normal.
- Look up an NBFC on RBI's register. The edition dated 15 October 2026 carries Tenmark at entry 7649 and Kumbhat at entry 3863, both in Chennai. Sunita Finlease is entry 7409, under Raipur. None takes public deposits.
- Check that the lender names Oro. All four lenders mention Orocorp or Oro Money on their own sites.
- Watch for odd names. Oro's website shows a "Triplicane Permanent Fund" logo among its partners. Oro doesn't call it a lender, and we couldn't find it on RBI's NBFC register.
RBI's directory of lending apps failed to load for us, so Oro Money's entry there is unconfirmed. Our RBI approval guide shows how to search it.
What an Oro Money gold loan costs: rate, gold rules and charges
A gold loan has more moving parts than a personal loan. Oro publishes some of the terms, and Tenmark, the group lender, publishes the rest.
What you pay | Published figure | Where we read it |
|---|---|---|
Interest | 9.90% to 35% a year, from 0.83% a month | Oro's Play listing |
Maximum APR | 45% a year, all fees included | Oro's Play listing |
Tenure | 6 to 12 months | Oro's Play listing |
Loan amount | ₹10,000 to ₹25,00,000 on the calculator slider | Oro's website |
Processing fee | 0% to 5% of the sanctioned amount, plus GST | Tenmark's schedule of charges |
Documentation | 0% to 1% of the sanctioned amount, plus GST | Tenmark's schedule |
Communication | 0.1% a month or ₹50 a month, whichever is higher | Tenmark's schedule |
Foreclosure | 0% to 5% of the sanctioned amount | Tenmark's schedule |
Penal charge | Up to 18% a year on the overdue amount | Tenmark's schedule |
Auction costs | Notice up to ₹300, newspaper notice up to ₹2,500, auction up to 0.5% | Tenmark's schedule |
Oro's FAQ promises 0% hidden fees and 0% compounding. Tenmark's ranges start at 0%, so both can hold for some loans. We found no published fees for Federal Bank, Kumbhat or Sunita loans, so your KFS is the only place to see them.
Tenmark's rate policy has one useful promise: any fee missing from the KFS can't be charged at any stage. It also allows a 3-day cooling-off period after a digital loan is paid out.
Jewellery rules. We found no published loan-to-value ratio or per-gram rate, so your amount rests on the valuation. One September 2026 reviewer says 15 grams were first offered ₹1,65,000, then only ₹1,29,070 once the gold was lodged. Get the offer in writing before you hand anything over.
A worked example. Oro's listing shows ₹3,06,225 at 15.48% a year over 6 months. That carries ₹24,414 of interest and a ₹0 processing fee, so you'd repay ₹3,30,639. The stated APR is 16.63%, above the rate despite no fee, so ask what fills the gap. Now picture Tenmark's top 5% fee on ₹1,00,000: ₹5,000 plus ₹900 GST, leaving ₹94,100 in your account.
Margin calls, auction and shortfall. A margin call asks you to pay down part of the loan, usually because the gold no longer covers enough of it. Under Tenmark's auction policy, ignoring one is a default, just like missed interest. Before a sale, the policy promises a final notice 15 days ahead. Then comes a public notice in two newspapers, 7 or more days before the auction. You can still repay and take the gold back until a day before.
One June 2026 reviewer describes a sudden demand for ₹10,000 under threat of auction. Another, in October 2026, was asked for a "shortfall amount" after paying the full closure sum. We can't verify either account, but they show why margin terms belong in writing.
Why Oro Money sometimes looks fake
Some doubts come from how gold loans work. A home visit or branch trip to weigh the gold is normal. So are original ID, address and bank proof, plus PAN and a selfie in the app. Oro markets "No CIBIL", yet its terms still let the lender look at your credit report.
Other doubts come from Oro's own paperwork:
- An old web address. Oro's former domain, oro.money, now leads to a page selling the domain. A link to it isn't Oro.
- Fee claims that clash. "No hidden fees" sits beside a lender schedule listing processing, documentation, foreclosure, communication and auction charges.
- A group lender. Tenmark appears to be Oro's own subsidiary, which the Play listing doesn't say.
- A thin data label. Play's Data safety form lists only approximate location and personal details, with nothing shared. The privacy policy adds your credit report, bank details, device IDs, an advertising ID and a selfie. It names Google Firebase, Meta and Microsoft Clarity among its service providers.
- Mixed contact details. Phone numbers and the grievance officer's address differ between Oro's pages. Kumbhat calls the operator "ORO Corporation Private Limited", a name Oro doesn't use.
On the plus side, the privacy policy says the app doesn't read your contacts, call logs, SMS, files or photo gallery. None of this shows fraud. It shows paperwork that needs tidying.
Oro Money on Google Play: 4.2 stars, two kinds of review
As of October 2026, Oro Money rates 4.2 on Google Play from 4,966 ratings, with 50K+ downloads. It was last updated on 15 October 2026.
Happy borrowers like the six-month flat scheme with no monthly interest to pay. Many thank a sales executive by name. The one-star reviews are long and specific. Since August 2026 they include:
- a "shortfall amount" demanded after the loan was closed in full
- a rate at closing far above the one promised at the start
- ₹1,500 and then ₹2,090 added at closing, on top of ₹19,150 of interest
- a transfer cancelled after documents and a cheque were collected
- a payment taken from the bank but not credited to the Oro account
Treat the 4.2 with care. One line praising the same appraisal partner was posted four times between August 2025 and February 2026. In September 2026, a reviewer said an executive asked for five stars before the takeover work began. The newest developer reply we found sat on a review from December 2025.
Fake Oro Money agents and links: what to check
Gold changes hands in person, so check every time.
- The right app. It's "Oro Money | Gold Loans at home" by Orocorp Technologies Private Limited, package in.orocorp.customer. Never install an APK sent over chat.
- The right lender. Your KFS should name Federal Bank, Tenmark Capital, Kumbhat Financial Services or Sunita Finlease.
- ID at the door. Before you hand over jewellery, ask the visitor for an Orocorp ID and confirm the booking in the app or on the helpline.
- No cash, no personal UPI. Oro takes UPI, debit card and net banking, and says it doesn't accept cash. Never pay a UPI ID an agent or caller sends you.
- No upfront "approval fee". Real fees sit in the KFS. A caller who wants money first to approve a gold loan isn't following that process.
Complaints about Oro Money: who to call first
Work down this list, and save every reply.
- Oro support. Call or WhatsApp +91 86088 60845 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, apart from government holidays. Email support@orocorp.in at any hour. Oro's website also shows 81248 12408 as Oro Support.
- Grievance officer. Nothing fixed in 7 business days? Email grievance@orocorp.in, for Mr. Mohammed Kabir, or ring +91 7971171064. The terms page gives him another number, 080-46808068.
- Your lender. Raise it with the lender on your KFS too. Tenmark's grievance officer is Renuka Jain on +91-63846 00199, and Kumbhat's is Mr. Sanjay Kumbhat on +91 99621 90876. Federal Bank's partner page lists dlcare@federalbank.co.in and 0484 6147400.
- RBI. Still stuck after 30 days? Complain online to the RBI Integrated Ombudsman (cms.rbi.org.in) or dial 14448.
- Fraud. If someone posing as Oro takes your money or gold, call 1930 and go to the police.
Our Oro Money customer care page keeps these details in one place.
Is Oro Money a good choice for your gold?
Oro Money may make sense if:
- you live in a city it serves; the Play listing names 10, while Orocorp's site says 8 are live
- you own gold jewellery and need the money for 6 to 12 months
- you'd like to pay interest whenever it suits you during the term
Think twice if:
- you can't risk losing the jewellery, or can't meet a margin call at short notice
- you want every charge fixed before the valuation visit
- you need longer than 12 months to repay
If you'd rather not pledge gold, get a quote from a large regulated lender. Our reviews of Bajaj Finserv, ICICI Bank and Hero FinCorp are a start, and all our lender reviews sit on one page.
Frequently asked questions
Is Oro Money real or fake?
Oro Money is real. Orocorp Technologies of Chennai runs it as a gold loan app. Its loans are funded by Federal Bank, Kumbhat Financial Services, Sunita Finlease or Tenmark Capital. Each lender names Orocorp or Oro Money on its own site. Genuine doesn't mean every term suits you, so read the lender's name and charges on your Key Fact Statement first.
Is Oro Money RBI registered?
Orocorp says it's a lending service provider, not a lender. The lenders are what RBI regulates. RBI lists Federal Bank among private sector banks. Its NBFC register for 30 September 2026 carries Kumbhat Financial Services, Sunita Finlease and Tenmark Capital. Tenmark appears to be Oro's own subsidiary, a fact the Play listing leaves out.
What is the real cost of an Oro Money gold loan?
The Play listing puts interest at 9.90% to 35% a year, with APR capped at 45%. Loans run 6 to 12 months. Its example of ₹3,06,225 over 6 months carries ₹24,414 of interest. Tenmark's schedule also allows processing and foreclosure fees of up to 5% each, plus GST. We found no fee list for the other lenders.
What is the Oro Money customer care number?
Call or WhatsApp +91 86088 60845 from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, apart from government holidays. Email support@orocorp.in any time. If your issue isn't solved within 7 business days, email grievance@orocorp.in or ring +91 7971171064. Your lender has its own grievance officer too.
Can Oro Money auction my gold?
Yes, if your loan goes into default, and an unpaid margin call counts. Tenmark's auction policy promises a final notice 15 days ahead and a notice in two newspapers no later than 7 days before the sale. You can repay and redeem the gold up to a day before. Get the margin call rules in writing before you sign.
Are calls asking for a margin or shortfall payment genuine?
They can be, since reviewers describe real margin and shortfall demands from Oro. A fraudster can make the same call, though. Check the demand inside the Oro Money app or with the helpline before paying. Pay only through the app's UPI, card or net banking options, never to a personal UPI ID. Report a fake caller on 1930.
How do I close an Oro Money loan and get my gold back?
Pay the closure amount in the app by UPI, debit card or net banking, since Oro doesn't take cash. Then request jewellery release in the app. Tenmark's schedule allows a foreclosure charge of 0% to 5%, so get the full closure figure in writing first. Match it against your KFS, because some reviewers report extra charges at closing.
