MakeMyTrip ICICI vs Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip: Which Travel Card?
The Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip card is the better deal for domestic travellers who book on EaseMyTrip, because its instant discounts of 10% on flights and 20% on hotels outweigh MakeMyTrip myCash in our profiles, as long as the fares match. The MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank card wins for people who spend a lot abroad: it charges 0.99% on foreign currency spends up to 9 November 2026 and no mark-up at all from 10 November 2026, though from that date foreign spends outside MakeMyTrip earn nothing and fresh myCash lapses after 24 months.

Two travel co-brands tied to two rival portals
Each card belong to an online travel portal and works best inside it. The MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank Credit Card pays myCash, worth ₹1 each on MakeMyTrip: 6% on hotels booked there, 3% on flights, holidays, cabs and buses, 25 myCash per train booking and 1% on spends in India outside MakeMyTrip. It costs ₹999 plus GST and comes as a Mastercard plus RuPay pair. Standard Chartered's EaseMyTrip Credit Card, at ₹350 plus GST, works the other way round: instant discounts on EaseMyTrip, but its best points rate, 10 per ₹100, is for bookings made direct with airlines and hotels.
The verdict in two sentences. For someone flying domestic a few times a year and booking on EaseMyTrip, the Standard Chartered card returned two to three times more in our profiles, because its discounts are big and its fee is small. If you spend a lot abroad or want lounges and UPI, the MakeMyTrip card is the one, and the 10 November 2026 changes make that even more clear.
What changes on the MakeMyTrip ICICI card on 10 November 2026
- Until 9 November 2026: spends in foreign currency carry a 0.99% mark-up, rupee payments to merchants abroad a 0.99% conversion fee, and every myCash already in your wallet stays valid with no end date.
- From 10 November 2026: both charges drop to zero. The same day, foreign spends made outside MakeMyTrip stop earning myCash, and fresh myCash carries a 24-month life.
In short the ICICI card turn into a free-to-use card abroad that pays nothing there. Its lounge rule tightened before that: from 1 July 2026, the 2 domestic visits a quarter depend on ₹75,000 spent in the quarter before. On the Standard Chartered side, international lounge access ended on 15 October 2024 and domestic visits fell to 2 a year.
Fees: ₹1,178.82 against ₹413, and the forex gap
MakeMyTrip ICICI costs ₹999 to join and ₹999 a year, plus GST, so ₹1,178.82 (₹999 plus ₹179.82). From the second anniversary year the fee is waived if you spent ₹3,00,000 in the year before, ₹25,000 a month (₹3,00,000 divided by 12), but a waived year come without the annual benefits. The joining fee brings a ₹1,000 MakeMyTrip voucher valid 12 months, and each paid renewal a ₹1,000 MakeMyTrip hotel voucher valid 3 months.
Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip costs ₹350 plus GST, so ₹413 (₹350 plus ₹63), in year one and each year after, and the renewal is reversed within 60 days if you spent ₹50,000 the year before, about ₹4,167 a month (₹50,000 divided by 12). Supplementary cards is charged ₹350 too, also waived on ₹50,000. On ICICI an add-on costs ₹199.
| Charge | MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank | Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip |
|---|---|---|
| Joining and annual fee | ₹999 + GST each | ₹350 + GST each |
| Fee waiver | ₹3,00,000 in the previous year, from year 2 | ₹50,000 in the previous year |
| Forex mark-up | 0.99% to 9 November 2026, zero from 10 November 2026 | 3.5% |
| Interest | 3.75% a month (45% a year) | 3.75% a month (45% a year) |
| Late fee on a ₹20,000 bill | ₹900 | ₹1,200 |
| Cash withdrawal | 2.5%, minimum ₹500 | 3%, minimum ₹300 |
| Redemption fee | ₹99 + GST handling fee | ₹99 handling and courier charge |
| Cash payment at a branch | ₹150 | ₹299 |
The forex row is the one what matters for travellers. On ₹1 lakh spent abroad the Standard Chartered card adds ₹3,500 plus ₹630 GST, so ₹4,130. The ICICI card adds ₹990 plus ₹178.20 GST, ₹1,168.20, if you spend up to 9 November 2026, and nothing from 10 November 2026.
Rest of the things is mostly a wash, with a few edges. Both charge 3.75% a month interest and 1% on rent. ICICI's late fee is lower on mid-size bills, Standard Chartered adds ₹100 when the minimum is missed 2 months running, and ICICI has its usual extra fees: 1% on fuel transactions above ₹10,000, on utilities above ₹50,000 and on wallet loads of ₹5,000 or more. A ICICI replacement card costs ₹200, rising to ₹300 from 11 December 2026.

Points are redeemed on the Rewards 360 catalogue at ₹0.25 each, cost ₹99 a redemption and expire after 2 years. The discount is a straight price cut, so it is real money and not some portal wallet only.
Three yearly profiles through both cards
Each card books on its own portal, and we assume the same fare on both, which you must check by yourself only. Flights and hotels are in different months, so every booking gets the EaseMyTrip discount. MakeMyTrip uses the rules from 10 November 2026; fees are for a renewal year with GST.
| Per year | A: two domestic trips | B: regular domestic traveller | C: big spends abroad |
|---|---|---|---|
| Everyday spends in India | ₹1,80,000 | ₹3,60,000 | ₹4,80,000 |
| Flights on the portal | 2 of ₹10,000 | 6 of ₹12,000 | 2 international of ₹60,000 |
| Hotels on the portal | 2 of ₹8,000 | 4 of ₹15,000 | None |
| Card spends abroad | None | None | ₹3,00,000 |
| MakeMyTrip ICICI, net | ₹2,181.18 | ₹9,360 | ₹8,400 |
| EaseMyTrip discounts | ₹5,200 | ₹18,000 | ₹10,000 |
| EaseMyTrip points value | ₹1,054 | ₹2,370 | ₹4,450 |
| EaseMyTrip forex cost | None | None | ₹12,390 |
| EaseMyTrip, net | ₹6,254 | ₹20,370 | ₹2,060 |
A. MakeMyTrip ICICI: 600 myCash on ₹20,000 of flights at 3%, 960 on ₹16,000 of hotels at 6% and 1,800 on everyday spends, so 3,360. Yearly spend of ₹2,16,000 (₹1,80,000 plus ₹20,000 plus ₹16,000) is under ₹3 lakh, so after the ₹1,178.82 fee it is ₹2,181.18, or ₹3,181.18 if you use the ₹1,000 renewal voucher in its 3 months. EaseMyTrip: ₹1,000 off each flight (10% of ₹10,000, at the cap) and ₹1,600 off each hotel (20% of ₹8,000), so ₹5,200. Points on the ₹30,800 actually paid (₹18,000, which is 2 times ₹9,000, plus ₹12,800, 2 times ₹6,400) are 616, plus 3,600 on everyday spends, 4,216 in all, worth ₹1,054. Total come to ₹6,254, fee waived.
B. MakeMyTrip ICICI: 2,160 on ₹72,000 of flights, 3,600 on ₹60,000 of hotels and 3,600 on everyday spends, 9,360 myCash, fee waived since ₹4,92,000 (₹3,60,000 plus ₹72,000 plus ₹60,000) is above ₹3 lakh. EaseMyTrip: 10% of ₹12,000 would be ₹1,200 but cap is ₹1,000, so ₹6,000 on six flights, and ₹3,000 off each hotel (20% of ₹15,000), ₹12,000, so ₹18,000. Points on ₹1,14,000 paid (₹66,000 for 6 flights at ₹11,000 plus ₹48,000 for 4 hotels at ₹12,000) and ₹3,60,000 of everyday spends are 2,280 plus 7,200, so 9,480, worth ₹2,370. Total ₹20,370.
C. MakeMyTrip ICICI: 3,600 on the flights and 4,800 on everyday spends, nothing on the ₹3,00,000 abroad, but no mark-up either, so 8,400 myCash with the fee waived. Up to 9 November 2026 that ₹3,00,000 would have cost ₹2,970 (0.99% of it) plus ₹534.60 GST. EaseMyTrip: ₹5,000 off each flight at the cap, ₹10,000; points on ₹1,10,000 paid (2 times ₹55,000), ₹4,80,000 at home and ₹3,00,000 abroad are 2,200 plus 9,600 plus 6,000, so 17,800, worth ₹4,450; forex is ₹10,500 (3.5% of ₹3,00,000) plus ₹1,890 GST, ₹12,390. Net ₹2,060 (₹10,000 plus ₹4,450 minus ₹12,390), a lot less than the ICICI card give.
Benefits: lounges, welcome vouchers and UPI
Lounge visits
On the ICICI card the primary holder can use 2 domestic lounges every quarter, provided ₹75,000 went through the card in the quarter before, plus one Priority Pass visit abroad each calendar year. Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip gives 2 domestic visits a calendar year under the Visa programme, with a ₹2 validation swipe, and has had no international lounge access since 15 October 2024. A frequent flyer who crosses ₹75,000 a quarter gets 8 domestic visits a year on the ICICI card (2 times 4) against 2, it is not even close.
Welcome and renewal benefits
- MakeMyTrip ICICI: a ₹1,000 MakeMyTrip voucher valid 12 months, arriving within 10 business days of paying the joining fee, and a complimentary MMTBLACK Gold membership on activation, minus its MMTBLACK myCash benefit. Each paid renewal adds a ₹1,000 MakeMyTrip hotel voucher valid 3 months.
- Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip: no welcome or milestone benefit is listed. The discounts is the benefit, every month you book.
Movies, fuel and covers
The ICICI card gives 25% off up to ₹150 on BookMyShow, with ₹25,000 of quarterly spend, and at INOX. Fuel earn myCash on the MakeMyTrip card, which is unusual for ICICI, though no surcharge waiver is stated and the 1% fee on fuel transactions above ₹10,000 still applies. The Standard Chartered card lists no fuel waiver, and the acquiring bank may add a surcharge of ₹10 or 1%. Neither card lists any insurance cover.
UPI and networks
The MakeMyTrip card is a Mastercard and RuPay pair, and the RuPay card works on UPI, so your myCash keeps building from small payments too. The Standard Chartered card is on Visa only, it cannot be used for card payments over UPI. Cards with more lounge visits than either of these are on the BankCreds credit cards hub.
Eligibility: a published floor against a city rule
| Rule | MakeMyTrip ICICI Bank | Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip |
|---|---|---|
| Age | Indian citizen over 21 | 18 to 65 years |
| Income | ₹20,000 a month salaried; ₹2,40,000 a year self-employed | Stable income; no figure published |
| Where you live | Not restricted on the card page | Standard Chartered's card sourcing cities only |
| Apply | MakeMyTrip app or website; DigiLocker accepted | Through Standard Chartered |
MakeMyTrip ICICI publishes a modest floor: ₹20,000 a month if salaried and ₹2,40,000 a year if self-employed, for Indian citizens over 21. You apply on the MakeMyTrip app or site, and documents can come from DigiLocker. Identity, address and income proof is the usual three.
Standard Chartered take applicants from 18 to 65 but publishes no income figure, only "stable monthly income", and you must live in one of the cities where it sources cards. It asks for identity proof, PAN, address proof, a photograph and income papers: the latest salary slip if salaried, or IT returns and proof of business continuity if self-employed. The bank takes applications online with video KYC for some of its cards and through branches or the contact centre for others, so check the route for this one.
For both, the RBI's 2025 card Directions say the decision is the issuer's alone, made on your own financial means and existing credit, and a no must come with reasons in writing. Approval is the bank's decision. If you have no credit record yet, read our guide to getting a card without credit history first; ICICI's helplines are on our ICICI Bank customer care page.
Verdict: which travel co-brand for which traveller
- Pick Standard Chartered EaseMyTrip if you fly domestic a few times a year, are happy booking on EaseMyTrip, and want a card that costs ₹413 a year or nothing after ₹50,000 of spend. It also suits people who book flights and hotels direct with the airline or hotel, where 10 points per ₹100 is 2.5%.
- Pick MakeMyTrip ICICI if you travel abroad often, since its mark-up is nil from 10 November 2026, if you book many hotels on MakeMyTrip at 6% uncapped, or if you want 8 domestic lounge visits a year and a RuPay card for UPI.
- Pick neither if you rarely use these portals: myCash only spends on MakeMyTrip and the discounts only work on EaseMyTrip, so a general travel card serve you better.
Before booking, do compare final price on both sites, because a 20% discount on a higher fare can be worth less than 6% myCash on a lower one. Also keep in mind that new myCash dies after 24 months from 10 November 2026, so a traveller who goes once in two years should not keep it lying.
