Buddy Loan App Real or Fake? Who Lends and the ₹199 Fee

Buddy Loan is a real app, but it isn't a lender. It's a loan marketplace run by BValue Services Private Limited of Bengaluru. Several RBI-registered lenders, including InCred Financial Services, mPokket and Poonawalla Fincorp, list it on their own websites.

So the app is genuine. Is it safe? That turns on two things: which lender makes your offer, and whether you pay anything first. When reviewers complain on Google Play, Buddy Loan answers that a ₹199 fee covers a "value-added service". Before you pay a single rupee, find the lender's name and read its Key Fact Statement (KFS).

Quick answer

  • Real company: BValue Services Private Limited, set up in 2019 and owned by ValueLeaf Services (India), runs the app and website.
  • Not a lender: Buddy Loan calls itself a marketplace. The bank or NBFC that approves you decides your rate, fees and repayment schedule.
  • Lenders vouch for it: Poonawalla Fincorp, InCred, Protium Finance, Respo Financial Capital and mPokket mention Buddy Loan or BValue on their own sites.
  • Watch the fee: users say they paid ₹99 to ₹201 before seeing offers and were then rejected. Buddy Loan's replies call it a ₹199 service fee.
  • Mixed reviews: 4.5 stars overall on Google Play, yet most of the newest reviews we read gave one star.

Who runs Buddy Loan, and who actually lends you the money

Buddy Loan belongs to BValue Services Private Limited (CIN U74300KA2019PTC127853) of HSR Layout, Bengaluru. Its annual return for the year to March 2025 shows ValueLeaf Services (India) Private Limited owning all its shares. Directors include Srikanth Bureddy and Satish Kumar Saraf, the founders the company names.

Buddy Loan doesn't lend its own money. Its terms say its service ends once you're connected with a lender. Documents, KYC, approval and payout then happen on the lender's platform, and any loan dispute is between you and that lender.

Who lends, then? It depends on your profile. Buddy Loan's Google Play listing names two lending partners: InCred Financial Services and mPokket. Its website lists far more: 42 logos for Android and 23 for iPhone, in four rough groups:

  • Banks such as HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Kotak, Axis Bank and IDFC First Bank
  • Large NBFCs such as Poonawalla Fincorp, Tata Capital, Bajaj Finance and L&T Finance
  • Loan apps that are platforms themselves, such as Kissht, Moneyview and Ram Fincorp
  • Small app lenders such as Zap Cash, Rule Mudra, True Fund and My Money Bazaar

That mix matters. A big bank and a small app can price the same loan very differently, and treat late payers differently too.

Is Buddy Loan RBI registered? How we checked

Buddy Loan has no RBI licence of its own, and a matching service doesn't need one. RBI regulates the lender. So ask two things: is your lender registered, and does it name Buddy Loan? These are the checks we ran on 4 November 2026, and anyone can redo them.

  1. Find the lender's name. It should be on the offer screen and the KFS. No name, no deal.
  2. Look the lender up in RBI's NBFC register. Ours showed data as on 30 September 2026. InCred Financial Services is entry 3103 and mPokket is 4645. Poonawalla Fincorp is 5485, Respo Financial Capital is 6062 and Protium Finance is 5651.
  3. Check BValue isn't posing as a lender. BValue, Buddy Loan and ValueLeaf aren't in that list. That's normal for a marketplace that never claims to lend.
  4. Look for Buddy Loan on the lender's website. Poonawalla Fincorp's page names Buddy Loan as its digital lending app and BValue as the service provider. InCred, mPokket, Respo and Protium list BValue too.
  5. Try RBI's directory of digital lending apps. It timed out for us, so run this check yourself before you sign.
  6. Search for warnings. We found no RBI caution, police case or Play Store removal for Buddy Loan or BValue.

One gap stood out. Buddy Loan's lenders page links to HDFC Bank's list of loan service providers. That list, dated 28 August 2026, leaves out BValue. If your offer names HDFC Bank, ask the bank to confirm it. Our guide on how to tell if a loan app is RBI approved explains each search.

That 36% cap clashes with partner offers on the same site. Buddy Loan's personal loan page lists interest of 32% to 57% for Kissht and 14% to 43% for InCred. So read 36% as a claim, not a ceiling.

Here's the worked example from Buddy Loan's Play listing. Take ₹1,00,000 for 12 months at 13% a year, and the EMI is ₹8,932. Total interest comes to ₹7,181. The 2% processing fee is ₹2,000 plus GST, or ₹2,360, and a line setup fee adds ₹588. About ₹97,052 would reach your bank. Play puts the total payable, fees included, at ₹1,10,129.

Why some people call Buddy Loan fake

Reviews use "fake" and "fraud" a lot. Most of that anger comes from a few real problems, not a ghost company.

The upfront fee. This is the big one. Many reviewers say they paid ₹99, ₹101, ₹199, ₹200 or ₹201 and were then rejected. A Buddy Loan reply says the ₹199 fee is "for accessing value-added service and processing your loan application". Paying it doesn't secure approval. Yet the website claims there are no hidden charges.

That sits badly with RBI's rules. Under RBI's Digital Lending Directions, 2025, the lender pays its loan service provider, not the borrower. Buddy Loan may see its fee as a separate service. Even so, don't pay a platform before a named lender makes you an offer.

Rejections after sharing everything. A marketplace can't promise a loan. Still, people who hand over PAN, salary and bank details and get nothing feel cheated.

Calls and messages. Signing up lets Buddy Loan send promotional SMS and email, even if your number is on DND. Its terms also let it pass your details to partner banks for credit cards. Expect calls.

Small partner apps. Some reviewers say Buddy Loan sent them to costly apps that pushed hard for repayment. That's unproven, but the partner list does mix small app lenders with big names.

A muddled lenders page. The page calls its partners "verified lenders". Its own disclaimer then says a logo doesn't imply a partnership. Both can't be the whole story.

What's normal? A credit check, a KYC selfie and a request for income proof are all standard.

What borrowers say about Buddy Loan

On 4 November 2026, Google Play showed 4.5 stars from about 60.7 lakh reviews and 1 crore plus downloads. The App Store showed 4.8 from 169k ratings.

The newest reviews paint a different picture. We read the 320 most recent ones, posted from 3 July to 3 November 2026. Of those, 231 gave one star and 72 gave five. Most five-star posts were four words or fewer, such as "good app" or "superb". When a few people posted kind words with a low rating, the company asked them to change it to five stars.

The common complaints were:

  • paying a fee and then being rejected
  • no loan after uploading documents
  • spam calls and SMS after signing up
  • very high interest from some partners
  • e-sign stuck for days after a loan was sanctioned
  • one reviewer's ₹4,366 repayment debited twice by a partner lender, TrustPaisa

The praise is brief. Some users say approval was quick and money arrived fast, and one thanked Kissht for a paperless loan. These are personal accounts, not checked facts.

How to spot a fake Buddy Loan app, agent or call

Popular apps get copied, and their names turn up in scam calls.

  • Install only from the app store. On Google Play, the real app is "Buddy Loan - Personal Loan App" from Bvalue Services. Never install a loan APK sent on WhatsApp or SMS.
  • Know the real contacts. Buddy Loan's email is info@buddyloan.com, and its app listings show 080-47097512. Check any other number against our Buddy Loan customer care page.
  • Never pay a personal UPI ID. Buddy Loan doesn't lend, so no payment to it can release a loan. A request to pay a person's UPI ID or bank account is a scam.
  • Expect a named lender. A real offer shows the bank or NBFC's name, the APR and a link to the KFS. A caller who says your loan is approved and asks for a fee first is lying.
  • Repay only the lender. Use the lender's app, website or autopay, never an agent's payment link.
  • Check the permissions. Buddy Loan's privacy policy says it doesn't access your contacts, call logs, files or media. An app that asks for them is a warning sign.

What to do if something goes wrong

First, pick the right company. App, data and fee problems go to Buddy Loan. EMI, interest and recovery problems go to your lender.

  1. Email Buddy Loan at info@buddyloan.com with your registered mobile number. Its site says it acknowledges complaints within 24 hours and aims to fix them in 7 to 10 working days.
  2. Escalate to the grievance officer. Write to Piyush Kumar on nodal.officer@buddyloan.com, or call +91-9632016942. He asks for 48 to 72 hours.
  3. Contact the lender's grievance officer for loan problems. RBI holds each lender fully responsible for what its service providers do.
  4. Take it to the RBI Ombudsman when 30 days pass without a fix. Complain online at cms.rbi.org.in, or ring 14448 for help.
  5. Money lost to a fake Buddy Loan agent? Dial 1930, the cybercrime helpline, the same day.

Facing recovery calls? Under RBI's rules, the lender must tell you by email or SMS which agent it has assigned before that agent contacts you.

Should you use Buddy Loan?

Buddy Loan can save time if you want to see what several lenders might offer. It suits a salaried borrower whose CIBIL score is 650 or higher, who reads the KFS and won't pay anything up front.

Look elsewhere if:

  • you already know which bank or NBFC you want, since going direct removes the middle step and any platform fee
  • you can't afford to lose ₹199 on an application that may still fail
  • you don't want calls and SMS from Buddy Loan and partner banks

RBI-registered lenders you can approach directly for a similar loan:

  • Poonawalla Fincorp, entry 5485 on RBI's list, which names Buddy Loan as a partner
  • Tata Capital, entry 7610, a large NBFC that also appears on Buddy Loan's list
  • InCred Finance, entry 3103, one of the two lenders Buddy Loan names on Google Play

Frequently asked questions

Is Buddy Loan real or fake?

Buddy Loan is real. BValue Services Private Limited, a Bengaluru company set up in 2019, runs the app. RBI-registered lenders such as InCred, mPokket and Poonawalla Fincorp show it on their partner pages. It isn't a lender, though. Whichever bank or NBFC approves you makes the loan and fixes its terms.

Is Buddy Loan approved by RBI?

RBI registers lenders, not loan marketplaces. BValue Services isn't on RBI's NBFC list, and it doesn't claim to be a lender. Its lenders are on the list. InCred Financial Services is entry 3103 and mPokket Financial Services is entry 4645, as on 30 September 2026. Always check the lender named on your KFS.

What is the ₹199 fee on Buddy Loan?

When users complain on Google Play, Buddy Loan replies that a ₹199 fee covers a "value-added service" and processing. It adds that payment is no promise of approval. Reviewers mention amounts from ₹99 to ₹201. The website doesn't show this fee, so ask what it covers and whether it comes back before you pay.

How much interest will I pay through Buddy Loan?

That depends on the lender. Buddy Loan quotes interest from 9.99% or 11.99% a year and a top APR of 36%. Yet its own site lists one partner, Kissht, at 32% to 57% interest. Processing fees run from 0.5% to 4% plus GST. Compare the APR on each KFS, not the headline rate.

What is the Buddy Loan customer care number?

Buddy Loan's website says it helps mainly by email, at info@buddyloan.com. Its app listings show the number 080-47097512. Complaints go to its grievance officer, Piyush Kumar (nodal.officer@buddyloan.com, +91-9632016942). For EMI or loan account questions, contact your lender.

Will Buddy Loan harass me over repayment?

Buddy Loan doesn't collect loans. The lender does, and RBI holds the lender responsible for its agents. If an agent threatens you or calls your contacts, complain to the lender's grievance officer first. If it isn't sorted within 30 days, go to the RBI Ombudsman. Report threats or demands for money to the 1930 helpline.

How do I cancel a Buddy Loan application or delete my data?

To cancel an application, Buddy Loan's FAQ says to contact its support team. Its privacy policy says it deletes personal details on request. Email info@buddyloan.com and ask for written confirmation. If a lender has already paid you, use that lender's cooling-off window or close the loan with it.

Why does Buddy Loan send me to other loan apps?

It works like a shop window. After you apply, Buddy Loan shares your profile with partners. Some of them, such as Kissht and Ram Fincorp, are apps that pass loans on to NBFCs. Every hand-off adds one more company that keeps your data. Before you upload more papers, open the lender's own website and confirm it knows that app.
