Chinmay Finlease Loan App Real or Fake? Lender, Costs and Catch

Chinmay Finlease is real, and so is its app. Chinmay Finlease Limited is an Ahmedabad NBFC on RBI's register. It lends through its own Google Play app, Chinmay Personal Loan App. Some loans in the app may instead come from two partner NBFCs, which are also registered.

Safe is a different matter. Chinmay charges interest on the whole sum for the whole term, so its printed APR understates the cost. Before you accept, find three things in the Key Fact Statement (KFS): the lender, your payout and the total due. All checks here were made on 30 October 2026.

Chinmay Finlease: the verdict in brief

  • A regulated lender: Chinmay Finlease Limited is entry 1526 in RBI's NBFC register for 30 September 2026, under the Ahmedabad office.
  • Its own app: the Play developer is Chinmay Finlease Ltd, and the app shows 50L+ downloads and 4.3 stars from 23K reviews.
  • Partner lenders too: LAN Finance and TapStart Capital, both RBI-registered NBFCs, may fund some loans.
  • Flat-rate pricing: interest of 28% to 36.5% a year is worked out on the full sanctioned amount, not the falling balance.
  • Mixed signals: the website, Play listing and policies disagree on APR, fees and foreclosure charges.

The NBFC behind the Chinmay app, and its partner lenders

The company dates back to 11 December 1996, when it was incorporated under the Companies Act, 1956. Its CIN is U67120GJ1996PLC031275. Its registered office is in Times Corporate Park, Thaltej, Ahmedabad, and that address matches RBI's register.

The app's terms say Chinmay runs the platform itself. They also say a loan may come straight from Chinmay or from one of its regulated partners. The partners page names two: LAN Finance Private Limited and TapStart Capital Private Limited. For those loans, Chinmay acts as a business correspondent, sourcing and servicing the loan for the other lender.

There is a third app in the picture. Lenditt, a separate loan app, names Chinmay as one of its lending partners. Chinmay's own about page says its director Harshit Shah co-founded the company behind Lenditt. That's a related-party link worth knowing about, though it's not hidden.

You may also see an old registration number. Chinmay's licence moved from category "A" to "B" in January 2025, which is why older pages show A.01.00558 and newer ones B.01.00558. Don't confuse it with Chintamani Finlease, a different NBFC in New Delhi. We cover that lender in our Chintamani Finlease review.

How to confirm Chinmay Finlease is RBI registered

You don't need a login or any special tool. Follow these steps with your loan offer open beside you.

  1. Find the lender on your KFS. It should say Chinmay Finlease Limited, LAN Finance Private Limited or TapStart Capital Private Limited. Note which one.
  2. Search RBI's register of NBFCs. The edition published on 15 October 2026 shows Chinmay at entry 1526, with no public deposits. LAN Finance is entry 3913 under Mumbai, and TapStart Capital is entry 7596 under Bengaluru.
  3. Match the CIN and address. Chinmay's CIN and its Thaltej address in the register match what the company publishes.
  4. Look up the app in RBI's Digital Lending Apps directory. RBI's page for this would not load on 30 October 2026. So we could not see the app listed against Chinmay, and you should look again yourself.
  5. Read the grievance policy. It names a grievance officer and promises escalation to RBI after 30 days. That is what a regulated lender has to publish.

One loose end: an older fair practice code on the website still calls Chinmay "deposit accepting". The register and the grievance policy both say it doesn't take deposits, so the code looks out of date. And if anyone sells you a "Chinmay" loan outside the app, report it on Sachet, where RBI logs complaints about unauthorised lenders.

The real price of a Chinmay loan

Chinmay publishes its charges, but on different pages with different numbers. This table shows what each source says.

Rate policy says 4%, two FAQ pages say nil

All the upfront fees attract 18% GST and come off before the money reaches you. Chinmay also allows a 3-day cooling-off period. In that window you can exit by paying back the principal and the interest for those days.

Here is Chinmay's own example from Play. You borrow ₹30,000 at 28% for 180 days. The fees are ₹1,500 for processing, ₹450 for documentation and ₹200 for convenience. GST of ₹387 brings the deductions to ₹2,537, so ₹27,463 lands in your bank.

Interest is ₹4,142, worked out on the full ₹30,000 for the whole 180 days. You repay ₹34,142. That is ₹6,679 more than you received, in six months.

The flat rate is the catch. On a normal reducing balance at 28%, the interest would be about ₹2,497. The flat method adds ₹1,645 on this small loan. Put simply, you pay more each year than the 26% to 36% APR printed next to the example.

Where the "Chinmay is fake" worry comes from

Chinmay is not fake. Even so, these issues give borrowers reason to stop and check.

  • Repayment pressure. Three one-star reviews, from 29 August to 26 October 2026, allege threatening messages or calls to contacts. One says the threats began before the due date. These are claims, not findings.
  • Bounce and late fees. A reviewer in July 2026 says a one-day miss cost ₹1,000, then ₹500 more after 3 days. Another was charged even after paying on the due date when the auto-debit failed.
  • Short tenures. One reviewer got just 3 months to repay a ₹70,000 loan. Another said you only learn the tenure once the money is paid out.
  • Extra deductions. One borrower says insurance was cut without consent and not refunded.
  • Data and marketing terms. The privacy policy lets Chinmay read financial SMS, including old ones, with consent. Accepting it also means agreeing to marketing calls and WhatsApp messages, and the terms override Do Not Disturb settings.
  • Untidy paperwork. The grievance policy PDF still contains a drafting note telling the writer to adjust the contact details.

What's normal here: lenders do charge bounce fees, and Chinmay publishes ₹500 for each one. Its own fair practice code bans calls before 8 am or after 7 pm and bans harassing relatives. So you have a written rule to point to if collectors cross the line.

Chinmay Personal Loan App reviews in late 2026

On 30 October 2026 the app showed 4.3 stars from 23K reviews and over 50 lakh downloads. It was updated on 28 October 2026.

We read the 600 newest reviews, from 26 August to 28 October 2026. Of those, 421 gave five stars and 126 gave one star.

Many of the five-star reviews were tiny, often just "good" or "very good". That often happens when an app asks for a rating right after a payout. We saw no copy-paste bursts, and the company replied to 541 of the 600.

The praise is mostly about speed. One borrower on 13 September 2026 got the loan within half an hour with few documents. The complaints focus on cost, short tenures, bounce fees and repeat loans refused after early closure.

Keeping clear of Chinmay impostors

A lender with 50 lakh downloads attracts copycats. Protect yourself with these habits.

  • Install from Google Play only. The developer must read Chinmay Finlease Ltd. Ignore APK files and links sent by chat.
  • Fees never come first. Chinmay deducts its fees from the payout. A demand for advance money to "process" your loan is a scam sign.
  • Repay through the app. For payment questions, Chinmay's own policy points you to collections@chinmayfinlease.com. Don't pay a personal UPI ID because a caller asked.
  • Check the number. The contact page gives +91 79844 79612, and the Play listing also gives 7600012589.
  • Know the hours. Under its own code, collectors shouldn't call before 8 am or after 7 pm. Note any call outside those hours.

Chinmay complaint steps, from support to RBI

Chinmay's grievance policy sets out the ladder. Keep each email and its date.

  1. Support: for loan questions, email support@chinmayfinlease.com or call +91 79844 79612. The contact page lists 9 AM to 7 PM from Monday to Saturday, though the terms also mention Sunday hours.
  2. Repayments, CIBIL and refunds: write to collections@chinmayfinlease.com. The policy aims to reply within 15 days.
  3. Grievance officer: if there's no fix in 15 days, go to Satvinder Singh Huda. He also serves as principal nodal officer, on +91-7948519054 or grievance@chinmayfinlease.com.
  4. RBI: after 30 days with no answer, or an answer you reject, complain to the RBI Integrated Ombudsman. File at cms.rbi.org.in or call 14448.
  5. Threats or fraud: report cyber fraud on 1930, and take threats to the police with screenshots.

These contacts, with any updates, are on our Chinmay Finlease customer care page. Look there first if a number above stops working.

Who a Chinmay loan suits, and who should pass

Who fits? A salaried person between 21 and 55 with monthly pay of ₹25,000 or more. The Play listing asks for a credit score of 600 and up.

It works best for a short, planned need you can repay on schedule. Chinmay lends across India except the seven northeastern sister states.

Pass on it if you're comparing loans by APR alone, since the flat rate hides part of the cost. Pass too if an auto-debit failure would hurt, given the bounce complaints. A loan meant to clear another loan is a poor fit as well.

To compare, read our reviews of Kissht, Fibe and Bajaj Finserv, all regulated lenders we have reviewed. Our full Chinmay Finlease review has the ratings and the pros and cons.

Frequently asked questions about Chinmay Finlease

Is Chinmay Finlease real or fake?

Chinmay Finlease is real. Chinmay Finlease Limited is an RBI-registered NBFC in Ahmedabad, incorporated in 1996, and it runs the Chinmay Personal Loan App itself. Our searches found no RBI caution or police action against it. The fair worries are cost, since interest ignores what you have already repaid, and some recovery complaints in 2026 reviews.

Is Chinmay Finlease registered with RBI?

Yes. RBI's NBFC register published on 15 October 2026 lists Chinmay Finlease Limited at entry 1526, under the Ahmedabad regional office, as non-deposit-taking. Its registration number is B.01.00558, and partner lenders LAN Finance and TapStart Capital are also registered. RBI's Digital Lending Apps directory would not load on 30 October 2026, so the app's entry there is unchecked.

Why is a Chinmay loan more expensive than its APR?

Chinmay works out interest at a flat rate on the full sanctioned amount, even as you repay. Its own sample loan of ₹30,000 at 28%, over 180 days, carries ₹4,142 of interest. On a reducing balance it would be about ₹2,497. Fees of ₹2,537 also come off first, so ₹27,463 reaches you and ₹34,142 goes back.

What is the Chinmay Finlease customer care number?

Chinmay's contact page lists +91 79844 79612, Monday to Saturday, and the Play listing gives 7600012589 as well. You can also email support@chinmayfinlease.com, or collections@chinmayfinlease.com for repayment and CIBIL issues. For complaints, contact grievance officer Satvinder Singh Huda on +91-7948519054. After 30 days, escalate to the RBI Ombudsman.

What can I do if Chinmay agents threaten me or my contacts?

Save every message and note the caller's number. Complain in writing to grievance@chinmayfinlease.com, and quote Chinmay's fair practice code. That code bans harassing relatives or friends and calls before 8 am or after 7 pm. For threats or extortion, call 1930 and the police, and after 30 days file with the RBI Ombudsman.

Can I cancel or foreclose a Chinmay loan?

You can cancel within the 3-day cooling-off period by repaying the principal and interest for those days, without a penalty. After that, the rules clash. The interest rate policy lists 4% of the outstanding principal plus GST for foreclosure, while two FAQ pages say there's no charge. Ask support for the exact figure in writing first.

Is Lenditt part of Chinmay Finlease?

Lenditt is a separate loan app run by Lenditt Innovations and Technologies Private Limited. Its Play listing names Chinmay Finlease as one of its lending partners. Chinmay's director Harshit Shah co-founded Lenditt, so the two are linked. If you borrow through Lenditt, check your KFS to see which lender's name is on the loan.
