What BOBCARD Eterna is, and who it is for
Eterna is the premium rewards card of BOBCARD Limited, the card subsidiary of Bank of Baroda. It earns 3 points per ₹100 on most eligible spends and 15 points per ₹100, which BOBCARD calls 5X, on online shopping, international spends, dining and travel. At the 25 paise a point it pays as statement cashback, that is 0.75% and 3.75%. The card is active and BOBCARD takes applications online. BOBCARD doesn't name Eterna's card network on the card page, KFS or MITC, so check whether a RuPay version for UPI is offered before you count on it.
It is built for a earner above ₹12 lakh a year whose money goes on apps, restaurants and trips, not on the supermarket, which earns nothing here.
Three things that matter most
- The 5X cap. Bonus points stop at 5,000 a statement cycle, which about ₹33,333 of 5X spend fills (5,000 divided by 15, times ₹100). After that, those spends earn the regular 3 points.
- The fee and its waiver. ₹2,499 plus GST a year, waived on ₹2,50,000 of spend in the card anniversary year. A limited-period ₹0 joining fee offer also runs on the card page.
- The travel side. A 2% forex markup and unlimited domestic lounges, but only after ₹75,000 of spend in the previous quarter. No international lounge is listed.
What changed in 2026
- 1 April 2026: telecom spends started earning core points, and 1% fees came on third-party education payments, toll and bus spends of ₹5,000 or more and railway bookings of ₹30,000 or more.
- 15 July 2026: interest went up from 3.25% to 3.75% a month, and the air and non-air accidental death cover were stopped for cards issued after that date. For older cards it ended on 25 August 2026.
- 1 September 2026: the card page's ₹0 joining fee offer began.
- 1 October 2026: the lounge spend condition went to ₹75,000 a quarter from ₹40,000.
RBI's monthly card data shows 34,91,782 credit cards outstanding under Bank of Baroda for September 2026. RBI do not say whether that figure is the same as BOBCARD's own card base.
Eterna fees and charges
Joining fee. BOBCARD's Key Fact Statement of 17 July 2026 and its MITC both list a joining fee of ₹2,499 plus GST, waived if you spend ₹25,000 within the first 60 days, otherwise charged in the third statement. That's ₹12,500 a month for two months (₹25,000 divided by 2). The card page separately offers a ₹0 joining or first-year fee from 1 September 2026, for a limited period. Treat it as a offer that can end, and check your own Key Fact Statement before accepting the card.
Annual fee. From the second year it's ₹2,499 plus GST, which at 18% is ₹2,948.82 (₹2,499 plus ₹449.82). It is waived when you spend ₹2,50,000 in the anniversary year, about ₹20,834 a month (₹2,50,000 divided by 12 is ₹20,833.33). Anyone using Eterna as the main card cross that without trying. Up to 3 add-on cards are free.
Interest, late fee and cash
Interest has been 3.75% a month, or 45% a year, since 15 July 2026, up from 3.25% (39% a year). On ₹20,000 carried for 30 days that is about ₹740 (₹20,000 times 45% times 30, divided by 365), against about ₹641 at the old rate. The interest-free period is 20 to 50 days, and it only apply if no earlier balance is pending.
The late fee follows the statement balance: nil below ₹100, ₹100 for ₹100 to ₹500, ₹400 for ₹501 to ₹1,000, ₹750 for ₹1,001 to ₹10,000, ₹950 for ₹10,001 to ₹25,000, ₹1,100 for ₹25,001 to ₹50,000 and ₹1,300 above ₹50,000. Cash withdrawals cost 2.5% or ₹500, whichever is higher, with interest from day one, and going over the limit cost 2.5% or ₹600.
Forex and the transaction fees
- Foreign currency: 2% plus GST. On ₹1,00,000 spent abroad that is ₹2,360 (₹2,000 plus ₹360 GST), against ₹4,130 on a 3.5% card (₹3,500 plus ₹630 GST), a saving of ₹1,770.
- Rent (MCC 6513): 1%. Wallet loading also cost 1%.
- Utilities of ₹50,000 or more in one transaction: 1%, capped at ₹3,000. Fuel of ₹10,000 or more: 1%. Fills of ₹400 to ₹5,000 get a 1% surcharge waiver, up to ₹250 a statement cycle, but no points.
- Education through third-party apps such as CRED, Paytm or PhonePe: 1%, capped at ₹5,000, from 1 April 2026.
- Toll and bus spends of ₹5,000 or more: a flat 1%. Railway bookings of ₹30,000 or more: 1%, capped at ₹5,000. Both from 1 April 2026.
- Branch cash payment ₹250; bounced cheque or auto-debit 2%, minimum ₹500. GST at 18% applies on all fees and interest.

How Eterna earns, and what the points fetch
There are two levels. The 5X level gives 15 points per ₹100 on online purchases (merchants flagged as e-commerce), international spends, dining (MCC 5812) and travel (MCC 4722). Everything else that is eligible get 3 points per ₹100, telecom included since 1 April 2026. The 5X points stop at 5,000 a statement cycle, after which the same spends fall back to 3 points.
BOBCARD's terms also list SmartDeal bookings on its own app or portal, with 12 extra points per ₹100 on flights and 30 extra on hotels. The terms does not say whether those come on top of the core points, so our examples leave them out. Transactions under ₹100 earn nothing, and UPI payments earn only the core 3 points, never 5X.
No points on fuel, rent, wallets, government, education, insurance, hospitals, railways, bus and tolls, supermarkets and grocery stores (MCC 5411 and others) and fast food restaurants (MCC 5814), among other excluded categories.
Value and bonuses. Cashback against your statement pays 25 paise a point, from a minimum of 1,000 points, with no redemption fee; TWID's Pay with Rewards gives only 15 paise, and BOBCARD does not publish a value for vouchers or merchandise. Eterna points are evergreen, except points carried over from an older card on upgrade. You also get 10,000 points (₹2,500) for spending ₹50,000 in the first 60 days, a 12-month FITPASS PRO membership for ₹10,000 in the first 30 days, and 20,000 points (₹5,000) on ₹5,00,000 in the anniversary year.
| Per month | Light | Typical | Heavy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Online, dining, travel and international at 15 per ₹100 | ₹6,000: 900 points | ₹25,000: 3,750 points | ₹50,000: 5,500 points (cap applied) |
| Other eligible spends at 3 per ₹100 | ₹6,000: 180 points | ₹18,000: 540 points | ₹35,000: 1,050 points |
| Grocery, fuel, rent and other excluded spends | ₹3,000: 0 | ₹7,000: 0 | ₹15,000: 0 |
| Points a year, with milestone | 12,960 | 71,480 | 98,600 |
| Cashback at 25 paise | ₹3,240 | ₹17,870 | ₹24,650 |
| Annual fee from year two | ₹2,948.82 | Waived | Waived |
Light, ₹15,000 a month. ₹6,000 in the 5X group earns 900 points and ₹6,000 elsewhere earns 180, so 1,080 a month or 12,960 a year (1,080 times 12), worth ₹3,240. ₹1,80,000 of yearly spend (₹15,000 times 12) falls short of the ₹2,50,000 waiver, so after paying ₹2,948.82 just ₹291.18 is left. A ₹45,000 quarter (₹15,000 times 3) also miss the lounge condition. In year one ₹30,000 in 60 days (₹15,000 times 2) clears the ₹25,000 joining-fee waiver but not the ₹50,000 welcome target.
Typical, ₹50,000 a month. ₹25,000 of online, dining and travel spends earns 3,750 points, inside the cap, and ₹18,000 of other spends adds 540, for 4,290 a month and 51,480 a year. Eligible spends of ₹5,16,000 (₹25,000 plus ₹18,000, times 12) clears both the fee waiver and the ₹5 lakh milestone, so 20,000 points more. 71,480 points is ₹17,870 in cashback, and no fee to pay.
Heavy, ₹1,00,000 a month. ₹50,000 in the 5X group would be 7,500 points, but the cap allows 5,000, which uses about ₹33,333. The other ₹16,667 earns 3 per ₹100, about 500 points. Add 1,050 from ₹35,000 of other spends and it's 6,550 a month and 78,600 a year. ₹10,20,000 of eligible spends (₹50,000 plus ₹35,000, times 12) brings the milestone too, so 98,600 points or ₹24,650. Past the cap, the extra 5X spends is better put on another card.

Eligibility, documents and how to apply
BOBCARD asks for net annual income above ₹12 lakh, about ₹1 lakh a month (₹12 lakh divided by 12), for both salaried and self-employed people. The age band is 21 to 60, though BOBCARD may consider lower or higher ages at it's discretion. You must be an Indian resident.
Documents
- A recent passport-size photograph, your PAN card, and address proof such as Aadhaar (both sides), voter ID, passport or driving licence.
- Salaried: a bank statement showing salary credits for the last 2 months; salary slips only along with it.
- Self-employed: bank statement in PDF showing business transaction for last 3 months.
How to apply
You fill the online form, e-sign with Aadhaar and verify yourself on a Video KYC call, which the RBI's KYC Directions treat on par with meeting in person. Cards are issued on billing cycles of the 1st, 7th, 13th, 16th, 18th or 25th, with an option to change it. An Eterna (FD) variant is listed in the fee table at the same ₹2,499, but the documents we read don't give the deposit amount or the limit it gives, so ask before you choose that one.
What BOBCARD will check
- Your independent income and every credit limit you hold elsewhere, which RBI rules require a card issuer to assess.
- Your credit record. Experian says above 750 is generally good on its 300 to 900 range; CRIF calls above 700 good.
- That you really asked for the card, since RBI bans cards issued without explicit consent.
BOBCARD is a non-bank issuer, so it comes under the RBI's 2025 Directions for NBFC card issuers. Approval is BOBCARD's call alone, and a rejection must come with specific reason in writing. Eterna has a dedicated 24x7 helpline, 1800 103 1002.

Pros, cons and who Eterna suits
Eterna's sweet spot is narrow but generous. If your spending is mostly online orders, restaurant bills, flights and a few foreign spends, 3.75% on up to about ₹33,333 a cycle pays well for a ₹2,499 card, and the points never lapse. The ₹2.5 lakh waiver is also low compare to the ₹4 lakh to ₹10 lakh the cards in the next tab asks.
Who gains most: someone earning above ₹12 lakh who spend ₹50,000 or more a month, much of it online or on travel, and takes a foreign trip or two a year. They keep the fee waived, collect the ₹5 lakh milestone, use domestic lounges and pay 2% instead of 3.5% abroad.
Who should skip it: households where the supermarket, fuel and rent take most of the money, since none of it earns a point. Also people who wants international lounges, as Eterna lists none. And spenders below ₹25,000 a month, who will miss the ₹75,000 lounge condition (₹25,000 times 3).
The trade-offs are real. Interest jumped to 45% a year in July 2026, the accident cover is gone, and the lounge bar was nearly doubled from ₹40,000. None of that matters much if you pay in full, use it for the right categories and take cashback. Very much value is there for the right spender, only for them.
Pros
- 3.75% back on online, international, dining and travel spends, up to 5,000 points a statement cycle
- A 2% foreign currency markup, against 3.5% on most other BOBCARDs
- Points do not expire and redeem as cashback at 25 paise with no redemption fee
- The ₹2,499 annual fee is waived on ₹2.5 lakh a year, about ₹20,834 a month
- 10,000 welcome points (₹2,500) on ₹50,000 in 60 days and 20,000 points on ₹5 lakh a year
- Up to 3 add-on cards with no fee
Cons
- Supermarkets, grocery stores, fast food outlets, fuel and rent earn no points
- Domestic lounge access needs ₹75,000 of spend in the previous quarter since 1 October 2026
- No international lounge access is listed
- Interest rose to 3.75% a month (45% a year) from 15 July 2026
- The accidental death cover was withdrawn in 2026
- UPI spends earn only the base 3 points per ₹100
Eterna against three similar premium cards
These cards sit near Eterna on fee, but each rewards a different kind of spending, and the spend needed to waive them differ a lot.
HDFC Bank Regalia Gold
The Regalia Gold costs ₹2,500 plus GST, waived on ₹4 lakh a year. It earns 5 points per ₹200 and 5X at Myntra, Nykaa, Reliance Digital and Marks & Spencer, capped at 5,000 points a month, with points worth most on HDFC's gold catalogue. Forex is 2%, like Eterna. It gives 3 domestic lounge visits a quarter after ₹60,000 of spends plus 6 Priority Pass visits abroad, but salaried applicants need gross income above ₹1.5 lakh a month.
SBI Card ELITE
The SBI Card ELITE costs ₹4,999 plus GST and needs ₹10 lakh a year for a waiver. It pays 10 points per ₹100 on dining, departmental stores and grocery, capped at 10,000 points a month, so grocery shoppers do better here. Forex is 1.99%, and it gives 8 domestic and 6 Priority Pass visits a year with no spend condition stated, plus a ₹5,000 welcome voucher.
Axis Bank Select
The Axis Bank Select costs ₹3,000 plus GST, waived on ₹8 lakh. It earns 2% at department, grocery and clothing stores up to ₹20,000 a month and 1% on the rest, at 20 paise a point. Priority Pass with 6 visits abroad comes with it, domestic lounges need ₹50,000 in the last 3 months, and forex is 3.5%.
Who should pick which
- Eterna, if online, dining and travel are your main spends and you want the easiest waiver of the four.
- Regalia Gold, if you earn above ₹1.5 lakh a month and want lounges abroad with HDFC's travel redemptions.
- SBI ELITE, if groceries is a big part of the month and you travel abroad often.
- Axis Select, if your money go on department and clothing stores and you want Priority Pass.
