Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card Review: 5% Back and No Fee, Ever
The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card charges no joining or annual fee and pays 5% back on Amazon for Prime members, 3% for other Amazon shoppers and 1% on most spends elsewhere, credited as Amazon Pay balance. It is offered by invitation only, and since 11 October 2025 education, international and non-Amazon utility payments earn nothing, so it works best as an Amazon-first card.

What this card is, and who gets the most from it
The Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card is a Visa card that ICICI Bank issues with Amazon Pay. It costs nothing to keep: no joining fee, no annual fee, and add-on cards are free too. Rewards land as Amazon Pay balance, so there is no points catalogue and no redemption fee.
It is an invite only program, so you can't just walk in a ICICI branch and ask for one. The offer shows up for selected customers and the application starts on Amazon. ICICI's published floor is ₹30,000 a month of income and a minimum age of 21. Still deciding what kind of card you need? Our credit cards guide is a good start.
The three things that matter most
- Amazon itself. Prime members get 5% back on Amazon and everyone else 3%, with no cap stated in the terms.
- Amazon Pay spends. Recharges and bills paid through Amazon Pay, physical gift cards and Amazon Pay partner merchants earns 2%.
- Everything else. Other platforms earn 1%, but fuel, gold, tax, rent, EMI, cash and fees earn nothing, and from 11 October 2025 education, international spends and utility bills paid outside Amazon joined that list.
That last list is why this card have to be paired with another one in many homes.
Recent changes from 2024 to 2026
Rent stopped earning from 18 June 2024, and from 15 November 2024 interest was set at 3.75% a month, or 45% a year, with new late-fee slabs. On 1 October 2025 the forex mark-up fell from 3.50% to 1.99%, which sounded a good news for travellers, but from 11 October 2025 international spends stopped earning at all. From 15 January 2026 came fees on wallet loads, transport and gaming, ₹150 for paying the bill in cash at a branch, and a currency conversion fee of 1.99% instead of 1%. The card is active, ICICI still issues it, only by invite.
Fees and charges: what you pay and when
There is nothing to pay to join or to renew. This card's MITC says plainly there is no joining or annual fee, and the add-on fee is nil, so there is no waiver target to chase. GST at 18% goes on any other charge you trigger, and the figures below is before that GST.
Interest and late fees
Interest is 3.75% a month, which ICICI states as 45% a year. Leave ₹20,000 unpaid for a month and 3.75% of it is ₹750, before GST. That wipe out a month of rewards for most users. ICICI gives 18 to 48 days interest-free plus 3 days of grace, but not while an old balance is outstanding. The late fee is based on what is still unpaid after the due date, applies only when the minimum due stays unpaid 3 days past it, and runs from nil below ₹100 up to ₹1,300 above ₹50,000.
Cash, forex and the special fees
- Cash withdrawal: 2.5%, minimum ₹500, with interest from the same day.
- Forex mark-up: 1.99% since 1 October 2025, down from 3.50%. A ₹50,000 hotel bill abroad costs ₹995 of mark-up (1.99% of ₹50,000) plus GST, and the spend earn no reward.
- Currency conversion fee, for paying in rupees abroad or to a site billing from overseas: 1.99% from 15 January 2026, it was used to be 1%.
- Rent 1%. Fuel 1% above ₹10,000, utilities 1% above ₹50,000, education through third-party apps 1%.
- From 15 January 2026: 1% on wallet loads of ₹5,000 or more, 1% on transport above ₹50,000, 2% on skill-based gaming, ₹150 per cash payment at a branch.
- Over-limit, only if you opted in: 2.5%, minimum ₹550. Failed cheque or auto-debit: 2% of the total due, minimum ₹500. Replacement card: ₹200, rising to ₹300 from 11 December 2026 under ICICI's common schedule.
The fuel surcharge waiver is 1% at all petrol pumps, but this card's MITC don't give a range or a cap for it.

Rewards: rates, exclusions and what they are worth
Every reward is a straight percentage of the bill, credited as Amazon Pay balance within 2 working days after the statement. ₹1 of reward is ₹1 to spend on Amazon, there is no point rate to work out. ICICI's card page calls the rewards non-expiring and unlimited; the balance is held as Amazon gift card value, so Amazon's gift card terms apply.
Prime members get 5% on Amazon and others 3%. Amazon Pay recharges and bills, physical gift cards and Amazon Pay partner merchants get 2%, and other platforms 1%. The card page FAQ mentions 1% at partner merchants but the terms say 2%, and we follow the terms. None of these rates carry a cap.
The exclusions matters just as much. Fuel, gold and precious metals, tax, rent, EMI including EMI on call, cash, fees and interest earn nothing, and since 11 October 2025 education, international spends and utility bills outside Amazon earn nothing either. Convert a purchase to EMI later and the reward taken back. Wallet reloads are not excluded in this card's MITC, unlike most ICICI cards, but a load of ₹5,000 or more now pays a 1% fee. There is no welcome benefit or milestone, only 3 months no-cost EMI on eligible Amazon purchases as merchant EMI.
Three worked examples
Only published rates are used. Amounts are monthly, and the year is 12 times the month.
| Monthly spend | Light, with Prime | Typical, no Prime | Heavy, with Prime |
|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon | ₹3,000 at 5% = ₹150 | ₹8,000 at 3% = ₹240 | ₹30,000 at 5% = ₹1,500 |
| Bills and recharges through Amazon Pay | ₹1,000 at 2% = ₹20 | ₹2,000 at 2% = ₹40 | ₹6,000 at 2% = ₹120 |
| Other shops and restaurants | ₹1,000 at 1% = ₹10 | ₹9,000 at 1% = ₹90 | ₹24,000 at 1% = ₹240 |
| Spends that earn nothing | None | ₹4,000 fuel and ₹2,000 electricity paid on the board's site = ₹0 | ₹15,000 rent = ₹0, and a ₹150 fee |
| Total spend | ₹5,000 | ₹25,000 | ₹75,000 |
| Reward a month | ₹180 | ₹370 | ₹1,860 |
| Reward a year | ₹2,160 | ₹4,440 | ₹22,320 |
| Annual fee | ₹0 | ₹0 | ₹0 |
Light. ₹180 a month and ₹2,160 a year, all of it a gain with no fee, even a small spender come out ahead.
Typical. Without Prime, ₹370 a month and ₹4,440 a year. With Prime the ₹8,000 on Amazon would earn ₹400 instead of ₹240, which is ₹160 more a month or ₹1,920 more a year, so set that against what Prime cost you. The ₹4,000 of fuel is under the ₹10,000 fee line, so it earns nothing but costs nothing.
Heavy. ₹1,860 a month is ₹22,320 a year against a zero fee. The ₹15,000 of rent earns nothing and pays ₹150 a month in fees, ₹1,800 a year plus GST, so moving rent off this card is the easiest saving.

Eligibility, documents and how to apply
ICICI publish one rule for salaried and self-employed applicants alike: an Indian citizen aged 21 or more earning at least ₹30,000 a month. That is above the bank's general floor of ₹20,000 a month for salaried people. The documents asked are proof of identity, proof of address and income proof.
The card page calls this an invite only program, and the application starts on Amazon rather than on ICICI's own pages. The bank does not publish how it picks who sees the offer, so meeting the income rule is no promise that an invite will come.
What ICICI is likely to look at
- Your own financial means, because the RBI's 2025 card Directions make every issuer run an independent credit-risk check.
- The limits you already hold with other lenders, from your declaration or the credit bureau.
- Your credit score and repayment history, which ICICI's listing page says may be considered. Experian India scores runs from 300 to 900, and above 750 is generally seen as good.
- Full KYC: PAN or Form 60 plus an officially valid document such as a passport, driving licence or voter ID, or a Video KYC call.
The RBI itself set no minimum age or income; those numbers are ICICI's. If the bank declines, it must give the specific reasons in writing, and the one-page Key Fact Statement with the application lists the rate and charges. Only ICICI decides. Once you hold the card, ICICI's toll-free line is 1800 1080, and our ICICI Bank customer care page has the other numbers.

Who gains most, who should skip it
The person who gains most is a Prime member who already buy most of the household's needs on Amazon. For them, 5% with no stated cap and no fee is hard to match, and the balance drops into the Amazon Pay wallet within days of the statement. Pay recharges and bills through Amazon Pay too and a steady 2% gets added on top.
The card gets weaker the moment you step outside Amazon. The 1% elsewhere is ordinary, and the zero-reward list covers rent, fuel, education, tax, international spends and utility bills paid on other sites. If those are your big monthly items, a card with a general earn rate will serve you better.
Frequent travellers should keep a different main card. There is no lounge access and no insurance stated, and although the 1.99% forex mark-up beats ICICI's usual 3.50%, international spends have earned nothing since October 2025. Its a decent backup for a trip, not more.
The trade-off, in short, is a zero fee in exchange of a narrow reward base. Use it for Amazon and Amazon Pay, pay the full bill every month, and put the rest on a card that actually rewards it.
Pros
- No joining fee, no annual fee and a free add-on card
- 5% back on Amazon for Prime members, with no cap in the terms
- 2% on recharges and bills paid through Amazon Pay
- Rewards credited as Amazon Pay balance within 2 working days of the statement, with no redemption fee
- Forex mark-up of 1.99%, lower than the 3.50% on most ICICI cards
Cons
- Invite only, so you cannot simply apply when you want it
- No rewards on rent, fuel, education, tax, EMI or utility bills paid outside Amazon
- International spends have earned nothing since 11 October 2025
- No lounge access, no welcome benefit and no milestone
- Interest of 3.75% a month, or 45% a year, on any balance carried
How it compares with other shopping cards
Three cards come up most often against this one: the Flipkart Axis Bank Credit Card, the CASHBACK SBI Card and the SimplyCLICK SBI Card. All three charges a yearly fee, and none has lounge access. The table puts ₹10,000 a month on each card's best category, before any fee.
| Card | Best category | ₹10,000 a month earns | Cap that applies | Fee and waiver |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amazon Pay ICICI | Amazon, Prime member, 5% | ₹500 | None stated | Nil |
| Flipkart Axis Bank | Flipkart, 5% | ₹500 | ₹4,000 per statement quarter | ₹500 + GST, waived on ₹3,50,000 |
| CASHBACK SBI Card | Online, 5% | ₹500 | ₹2,000 per statement cycle | ₹999 + taxes, reversed on ₹2,00,000 |
| SimplyCLICK SBI Card | Partner sites, 10 points per ₹100 | ₹250 at ₹0.25 a point | None at partners | ₹499 + taxes, reversed on ₹1,00,000 |
At ₹10,000 a month the first three pays the same ₹500, and the gap opens with bigger spends. Put ₹50,000 a month on Flipkart and 5% would be ₹2,500 a month, or ₹7,500 a quarter, but the cap stops it at ₹4,000 a quarter. On CASHBACK SBI Card the same ₹50,000 online would be ₹2,500, cut to ₹2,000 by the cycle cap. Amazon Pay ICICI has no stated cap, so ₹50,000 on Amazon with Prime pays the full ₹2,500.
The rivals have strengths of their own. Flipkart Axis pays 7.5% on Myntra under its own ₹4,000 quarterly cap and 4% with no cap at Swiggy, Uber and PVR. CASHBACK SBI Card pays on almost any online merchant, and SimplyCLICK is the cheapest to keep.
Who should pick which: Amazon-first households keep Amazon Pay ICICI, Flipkart and Myntra regulars take Flipkart Axis, people who buy from many sites lean to CASHBACK SBI Card, and a light online spender can look at SimplyCLICK. All three rivals carry a 3.5% forex mark-up, so abroad Amazon Pay's 1.99% is cheaper. The rest of ICICI's range is on our ICICI Bank credit cards page, and the card comparison page sets two cards side by side.
