IndusInd Bank Legend Credit Card Review: Double Points at Weekends
The IndusInd Bank Legend Credit Card earns 2 reward points per ₹100 on Saturday and Sunday spends and 1 per ₹100 on weekdays, worth ₹0.75 a point on non-cash redemptions or ₹0.50 as cash credit, so weekend spends return 1.5% at best. IndusInd's MITC lists a one-time ₹5,000 joining fee plus GST and no annual fee, though the bank says the actual fee is conveyed at application. Lounge access ended on 7 March 2025, which leaves the 1.8% forex mark-up as its main travel perk.

Legend in short: a weekend card with a one-time fee
IndusInd's Legend card pays you twice as much on a Saturday or Sunday as it do on a weekday. Every ₹100 spent at the weekend earns 2 reward points, Monday to Friday earns 1, and the points stay alive for as long as your card account does. It runs on Visa, and after losing its lounges it have become a plain rewards card.
On fees it follow IndusInd's pay-once model. The MITC shows a ₹5,000 joining fee and a NIL annual fee, plus GST, and add-on cards are free. The same MITC says the actual fee is conveyed at application and that welcome gifts (Montblanc, Postcard Hotels or Vouchagram vouchers) come only on select fee plans, so the offer on your screen may not match the table.
What matters most
- Point value. Since 1 March 2024 a point is worth ₹0.75 on non-cash redemptions and ₹0.50 as cash credit. Weekends therefore return 1.5% or 1%, weekdays 0.75% or 0.5%.
- No lounges now. Lounge access ended on 7 March 2025. The card page's value table still count a Priority Pass for you and your partner at ₹8,613, that line is not having any meaning now.
- A low mark-up for the price. Foreign currency spends carry 1.8%, against IndusInd's 3.5% default, which help if you go abroad once or twice a year.
Changes since 2024
The card has been trimmed again and again. Points were revalued on 1 March 2024, the fuel surcharge waiver shrank to fills of ₹500 to ₹3,000 with a ₹100 cap from 5 May 2024, cash redemption got a 5,000-point monthly cap from 1 September 2024, and from 15 December 2024 low-MCC spends stopped counting for the milestone. In 2025 the lounges went on 7 March, and from 1 April spends lost points on the part above each ₹100 multiple while cash credit started costing ₹149. On 15 June 2026 came new late fee slabs, a 1% fuel fee above ₹30,000 a cycle, a 1% transport fee above ₹40,000 and a 2% conversion fee. The card is still active and open for new applicants. Compare the rest of the range on our IndusInd Bank credit cards page.
Legend fees and charges
You pay ₹5,000 once, as per the MITC, and nothing every year after. With GST at 18% the joining fee comes to ₹5,900 (₹5,000 plus ₹900). There's no spend target to chase and no renewal to dread, which make Legend an easy card to hold for a long time. Add-on cards are NIL.
Interest and penalties
- Interest: 3.95% a month, or 47.4% a year, the highest band in IndusInd's MITC. Carry ₹20,000 into the next cycle and a month costs about ₹790 (3.95% of ₹20,000).
- Late fee from 15 June 2026: nil up to ₹100 outstanding, then rising slab by slab to ₹1,300 above ₹50,000. An unpaid ₹7,000 fall in the ₹5,001 to ₹10,000 slab, so the fee is ₹750.
- Cash advance: 2.5% with a minimum of ₹300, and interest from the day of the transaction. Withdrawing ₹20,000 costs ₹500 in fee (2.5% of ₹20,000) before interest even start.
- Over-limit: 2.5% of the excess, minimum ₹500. Returned payment ₹250, and cash payment at an IndusInd branch ₹100.
Fees on particular spends
| Spend | Fee | When it applies |
|---|---|---|
| Rent through third-party merchants | 1% plus GST | On every transaction |
| Utilities | 1% plus GST | Above ₹25,000 in a statement cycle |
| Wallet loading | 1% plus GST | Above ₹20,000 in a statement cycle |
| Education via third-party apps | 1% plus GST | Above ₹45,000 in a statement cycle |
| Fuel, from 15 June 2026 | 1% plus GST | Above ₹30,000 in a statement cycle |
| Transport other than air, from 15 June 2026 | 1% plus GST | Above ₹40,000 in a statement cycle |
| Rupee payments abroad (DCC), from 15 June 2026 | 2% plus GST | On every such transaction |
Rent is the one to think about. ₹25,000 of rent through an app attract ₹250 of fee (1% of ₹25,000) and ₹45 of GST on it (18% of ₹250) every month, and it earns only 0.70 point per ₹100.
Forex and fuel
The mark-up is 1.8% plus GST. ₹1,00,000 spent abroad costs ₹1,800 in mark-up here (1.8% of ₹1,00,000) against ₹3,500 at IndusInd's 3.5% default, so ₹1,700 saved. Fuel gets a 1% surcharge waiver on fills of ₹500 to ₹3,000, capped at ₹100 a billing cycle, so a heavy driver gets only small relief.
Legend: fees and charges

How Legend points add up
| Spend type | Points per ₹100 | Return at ₹0.75 | Return at ₹0.50 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Weekend (Saturday and Sunday) | 2 | 1.5% | 1% |
| Weekday (Monday to Friday) | 1 | 0.75% | 0.5% |
| Medical, automobiles and telecom, any day | 1 | 0.75% | 0.5% |
| Utilities, insurance, government, education, rent | 0.70 | 0.525% | 0.35% |
| Fuel | 0 | Nil | Nil |
The last paid row works out as 0.70 x ₹0.75 = ₹0.525 and 0.70 x ₹0.50 = ₹0.35 per ₹100. Points accrue only on spends up to your assigned credit limit in each statement cycle, and since 1 April 2025 nothing is earned on the part of a transaction above each ₹100 multiple, so a ₹1,450 dinner earn points on ₹1,400 only.
Redeeming, and the catches
- Non-cash redemptions, excluding air miles: ₹0.75 a point, with a ₹100 fee per redemption.
- Cash credit: ₹0.50 a point, ₹149 plus GST per redemption, at most 5,000 points a calendar month and never more than 50% of your balance.
- Air miles: KrisFlyer and Maharaja Club are still there, Club Vistara ended on 31 October 2024 and InterMiles on 21 January 2025. The Legend pages we read gives no conversion rate.
- Expiry: none while the card account is live.
Take cash credit and the fee bite. 5,000 points give ₹2,500 (5,000 x ₹0.50), less ₹149 and ₹26.82 of GST (18% of ₹149), so about ₹2,324 reaches your statement. The one bonus is 3,000 points on ₹5,00,000 or more of spend within a year of the card's issue date; since 15 December 2024 low-MCC spends such as fuel, utilities, insurance, education, telecom and government don't count, and the page doesn't say the bonus repeats. BookMyShow gives one free ticket a month, up to ₹200, on a buy-one-get-one.
The examples below assume spends in round ₹100 amounts, redemption at ₹0.75 with one ₹100 fee a year, and a credit limit above the monthly spend.
Light: ₹15,000 a month
| Spend a month | Working | Points |
|---|---|---|
| ₹6,000 weekend shopping and dining | 60 x 2 | 120 |
| ₹5,000 weekday groceries | 50 x 1 | 50 |
| ₹2,000 utilities | 20 x 0.70 | 14 |
| ₹2,000 fuel | No points | 0 |
| Points a year | 184 x 12 | 2,208 |
| Value a year | 2,208 x ₹0.75 = ₹1,656, minus ₹100 | ₹1,556 |
Against the ₹5,900 joining fee this take nearly four years (₹5,900 divided by ₹1,556 is about 3.8). After that it is pure gain, but slow.
Typical: ₹40,000 a month
| Spend a month | Working | Points |
|---|---|---|
| ₹15,000 weekend shopping, dining and outings | 150 x 2 | 300 |
| ₹15,000 weekday spends | 150 x 1 | 150 |
| ₹4,000 medical and pharmacy | 40 x 1 | 40 |
| ₹6,000 utilities and insurance | 60 x 0.70 | 42 |
| Points a year | 532 x 12 | 6,384 |
| Milestone | Counted spend at most ₹40,000 minus ₹6,000 = ₹34,000, x 12 = ₹4,08,000, below ₹5 lakh | 0 |
| Value a year | 6,384 x ₹0.75 = ₹4,788, minus ₹100 | ₹4,688 |
The fee is back in about 15 months (₹5,900 divided by ₹4,688 is about 1.26 years), and from then the card cost nothing to hold.
Heavy: ₹80,000 a month
| Spend a month | Working | Points |
|---|---|---|
| ₹40,000 weekend shopping, dining and travel bookings | 400 x 2 | 800 |
| ₹25,000 weekday spends | 250 x 1 | 250 |
| ₹10,000 utilities and insurance | 100 x 0.70 | 70 |
| ₹5,000 fuel | No points | 0 |
| Points a year | 1,120 x 12 | 13,440 |
| First-year milestone | ₹40,000 + ₹25,000 = ₹65,000, x 12 = ₹7,80,000, above ₹5 lakh | 3,000 |
| Value in year one | 13,440 + 3,000 = 16,440, x ₹0.75 = ₹12,330, minus ₹100 | ₹12,230 |
Year one covers the fee twice over, and each later year is worth ₹9,980 with no fee (13,440 x ₹0.75 = ₹10,080, minus ₹100). As cash credit the same points would be worth a third less, because ₹0.50 is two-thirds of ₹0.75.

Who can get Legend, and how to apply
The Legend page publish no criteria of its own. Applications go through Indus Easy Credit, and IndusInd's listing page gives general rules for those cards, so they are the best guide we have:
- Age 18 to 70.
- Net monthly income at least ₹20,000, whether salaried or self-employed.
- A good CIBIL score, in the bank's own words.
Documents and the steps
The process is fully digital, no paper copies needed. Keep your Aadhaar number and PAN handy, a proof of residence is asked only if you live somewhere other than your Aadhaar address. You fill in basic details, pick the card offer shown to you, sign digitally and complete Video KYC. A virtual card comes on approval and the physical card reach in about 5 days.
Video KYC is not just a formality. Under RBI's KYC rules, an account opened with only an Aadhaar OTP check can be a term loan, not revolving credit, so a card needs full KYC or a video check done with a bank official.
What IndusInd looks at
RBI's 2025 card Directions require the bank to assess your independent means and to count the limits you hold elsewhere before setting yours. The ₹20,000 income floor is a gate to enter, it is not any promise of a card. Experian India treats scores above 750 as generally good, and a thin or patchy file will weigh against you. If IndusInd says no, it must give the reasons in writing.
Check the fee plan on the offer screen and in the Key Fact Statement before signing, because the MITC says the actual fee is conveyed at application. Approval is IndusInd's decision. For card help call 1860 267 7777, or see our IndusInd customer care page.

Is Legend the right card for you?
Legend works best for a household that does the big grocery run, the mall trip and the family dinner at the weekend, and that wants a card it can keep for ten years without paying again. Move those spends to Saturday and Sunday and you're earning 1.5% in non-cash value with no annual fee, which for a pay-once card is fair.
The quieter benefit is abroad. A 1.8% mark-up with no yearly fee is easy to overlook, and on a ₹2,00,000 trip it saves ₹3,400 against a 3.5% card (3.5% minus 1.8% is 1.7%, and 1.7% of ₹2,00,000 is ₹3,400). For one or two holidays a year that alone pay for the joining fee over time.
Who should skip it? Anyone hoping for lounges, they are gone since 7 March 2025 and Priority Pass now costs up to US$35 a visit. People who only want cash, since ₹0.50 a point less ₹149 plus GST is thin. Anyone who revolve a balance at 3.95% a month. And heavy fuel users, with no points on fuel and a waiver capped at ₹100 a cycle.
The trade-offs
You get a low running cost for a modest return. Weekday spends earning 0.75% at best is below many free cards, and the rules on ₹100 multiples, the 5,000-point monthly cash cap and the 50% limit add friction without any reason that we are seeing. On the other side, points never expire while the card is open, there is no renewal fee to fight over, and the weekend rate is simple to use. If you'd rather be paid for online shopping, look at IndusInd's own Pinnacle in the next tab.
Pros
- No annual fee after the one-time joining fee, as per the MITC
- Weekend spends earn 2 points per ₹100, which is 1.5% at the ₹0.75 non-cash value
- Points stay valid as long as the card account is live
- 1.8% forex mark-up, about half of IndusInd's 3.5% default
- 3,000 bonus points on ₹5 lakh of eligible spend within a year of card issue
- Travel cover for lost baggage up to ₹1,00,000 and loss of passport up to ₹50,000
Cons
- Lounge access discontinued from 7 March 2025
- Cash credit at only ₹0.50 a point, with a ₹149 plus GST fee and a 5,000-point monthly cap
- Interest of 3.95% a month, or 47.4% a year
- No points on fuel, and from 15 June 2026 a 1% fee on fuel above ₹30,000 a cycle
- No points on the part of a spend above each ₹100 multiple since 1 April 2025
- Weekday spends return only 0.5% to 0.75%
Legend against three other reward cards
All three below are open to apply, and two of them are IndusInd's own. The table on this tab line up fees, lounges and forex; here is what the numbers mean in practice.
IndusInd Bank Pinnacle
Pinnacle uses the same pay-once model, but its joining fee is ₹15,000 or ₹5,000 depending on the fee plan offered at application, with no annual fee. It earns 2.5 points per ₹100 online and 1 per ₹100 on shop swipes, worth ₹0.75 each as cash credit, so online spends return 1.875%. It still have 1 Priority Pass visit a quarter abroad and 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter, the domestic one needing ₹1,50,000 of spend in the previous quarter from the July 2026 quarter. Its mark-up is 3.5%, and the card page asks for ₹10 lakh a year of salaried income or ₹12 lakh self-employed.
IndusInd Bank Tiger
Tiger lists no joining or annual fee in the MITC. Its points climb with yearly spend: 1 per ₹100 up to ₹1,00,000, then 2, 4 and 6 per ₹100 on the slices above ₹1 lakh, ₹2.5 lakh and ₹5 lakh, but each point is worth only ₹0.40. On ₹4,80,000 a year of spends that all qualify, that is 13,200 points (1,000 on the first ₹1 lakh, 3,000 on the next ₹1,50,000 and 9,200 on the ₹2,30,000 above ₹2,50,000), or ₹5,280 at ₹0.40. It keep 2 domestic lounge visits a quarter and 2 Priority Pass visits a year, and forex is 1.5%.
Axis Bank Privilege
The Axis Privilege charges ₹1,500 plus GST to join and every year per its MITC, waived on ₹5 lakh of spend; a lifetime-free offer on the Visa network runs till 31 December 2026, and it is only an offer. It earns 10 EDGE REWARD points per ₹200, about 1% at the ₹0.20 a point Axis uses for vouchers, plus 10,000 points worth ₹2,000 at ₹2.5 lakh a year. Lounges are 2 domestic visits a quarter after ₹50,000 of spends in the prior 3 months, and forex is 3.5%.
Which to choose
On paper Tiger is the strongest here for most spenders: no fee, lounges and a 1.5% mark-up, as long as your yearly spend climbs into its upper slabs. Legend still win for someone with a weekend-heavy pattern who has paid, or been offered a lower fee for, the one-time joining fee. Pinnacle suits online shoppers, and Privilege suits Axis customers who want a domestic lounge. More choices are on our best reward cards list, the reward points guide and the credit cards hub.
