The PVR INOX Kotak card in short
This is Kotak Mahindra Bank's co-branded card with PVR INOX Ltd., and it don't pretend to be anything else. There are no reward points. Every ₹10,000 of eligible spends in a monthly billing cycle earns one M-Coupon for a PVR INOX ticket valued up to ₹300, and Kotak puts no upper limit on how many you collect. At the cinema the card also take 20% off food and beverages and 5% off tickets, at the theatre or on the PVR INOX app and website.
Fees are short to explain. Nil to join, ₹499 plus GST every year, and no spend level that waives it. Add-on cards cost ₹299. The card is active and open for applications; the RBI's order of 24 April 2024 that stopped Kotak issuing fresh cards was withdrawn on 12 February 2025.
Three things that decide its value
- How often you go to PVR INOX. One ticket a month is worth up to ₹3,600 a year (12 times ₹300). Tickets you never use is worth nothing.
- Whether you cross ₹10,000 a month. Below that there's no ticket, only the cinema discounts.
- Ticket prices where you live. The coupon covers up to ₹300, so a cheaper show gives you less, and booking fees and taxes stay with you.
Recent changes
The card's own terms hasn't moved much. From 1 June 2025, rent payments, wallet loads and online gaming stopped counting towards the ticket spend. The 1% fees on fuel, utility, wallet and gaming spends above set limits belong to Kotak's wider June 2025 changes. Kotak names no card network and publishes no insurance cover for this card.
PVR INOX Kotak fees and charges
No joining fee is charged. The annual fee is ₹499 plus GST, so ₹588.82 at 18% (₹499 plus ₹89.82), and there is no spend-based waiver, so it gets billed every year however much you use it. An add-on card is ₹299 plus GST, which is ₹352.82 (₹299 plus ₹53.82). Two tickets used at full value, ₹600 (2 times ₹300), is already more than the yearly fee.
Interest and late payment
Interest is 3.75% a month or 45% a year, the Key Fact Statement says, and GST is added on interest and on cash advance fees. You keep up to 51 interest-free days only when the last bill was paid in full. Carry ₹10,000 for 30 days and the interest come to about ₹370 (₹10,000 times 45% times 30 divided by 365), before GST.
The late fee follows the amount due and is charged if you pay nothing, or less than the minimum, by the due date. It is nil up to ₹100 and ₹600 when more than ₹1,000 and up to ₹5,000 is due; between ₹10,000 and ₹25,000 it's ₹900, and above ₹50,000 it reach ₹1,300.
Cash, forex, fuel and category fees
- Cash advance: 2.5% with a ₹500 minimum, and interest from day one. ₹8,000 withdrawn still cost ₹500, because 2.5% is only ₹200.
- Forex markup 3.5%, and 3.50% on dynamic currency conversion. ₹30,000 spent abroad adds ₹1,050 (3.5% of ₹30,000) before GST.
- Fuel: there is no surcharge waiver. The surcharge is charged at the applicable rate with a ₹10 minimum, and fuel above ₹35,000 in a statement cycle draws a further 1% fee.
- Rent: 1% of each payment plus GST, and it is not count for tickets anyway.
- Utilities above ₹50,000, wallet loads above ₹10,000 and online skill gaming above ₹10,000 in a statement cycle: 1%. Education through third-party apps: 1% on every rupee.
- Over-limit ₹500 when you are ₹500 or more over; card replacement ₹100.

Movie tickets, discounts and what they're worth
Main reward is the M-Coupon. ₹10,000 of spends in a monthly billing cycle gets you one, ₹20,000 gets two, ₹30,000 three, and it go on with no ceiling. Each coupon books one ticket on the PVR app or website and is capped at ₹300; when the ticket costs more, you pays the difference, plus booking or convenience fees and taxes.
There's a small wrinkle at the exact threshold. Kotak's MITC says one ticket on every ₹10,000, but the card page table shows none below ₹10,000 and one for ₹10,001 to ₹20,000, so a spend of exactly ₹10,000 may not qualify. Spending a little over each ₹10,000 step take the doubt away.
Claim rules and what doesn't count
- Coupons for a month must be claimed within 2 monthly billing cycles, and a claimed ticket stays valid for 60 days.
- Excluded from the spend: rent, wallet loads, online skill gaming, personal loans, cash advances, fees and charges, EMI transactions and balance transfers.
- Fuel and utilities aren't on that list, so they count towards the ₹10,000, though both has their own fees above set limits.
- Some franchise cinemas are excluded; the MITC names them.
The cinema discounts carry no published cap: 20% off food and beverages and 5% off tickets at any PVR INOX theatre, app or website. Cardholders also walk into the in-cinema PVR INOX lounges with no extra entry cost. There is no welcome gift, and no milestone other than tickets only.
Three worked examples
We value a ticket at the full ₹300, which means a show priced at ₹300 or more, and count the 20% food discount only on snacks you would have buy anyway. The yearly fee is ₹588.82.
| Spender | Monthly card spend | Tickets earned | Cinema use | Yearly value | After the fee |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Light | ₹8,000 | None | One visit every two months, ₹600 tickets and ₹400 food | ₹660 | ₹71.18 |
| Typical | ₹22,000 | 2 a month | Both tickets used monthly, ₹600 food a month | ₹8,640 | ₹8,051.18 |
| Heavy | ₹55,000 | 5 a month | 4 tickets used monthly, ₹1,500 food a month | ₹18,000 | ₹17,411.18 |
Light: ₹8,000 never reach ₹10,000, so there are no tickets. Six visits a year with ₹600 of tickets save ₹30 each at 5%, and ₹400 of food saves ₹80 at 20%, so ₹110 a visit and ₹660 a year (6 times ₹110). After the ₹588.82 fee you're ahead by ₹71.18. Go only four times and you lose money, ₹440 (4 times ₹110) against ₹588.82.
Typical: groceries ₹7,000, shopping ₹5,000, dining and delivery ₹4,000, bills ₹3,000, fuel ₹2,000 and cinema ₹1,000. On the MITC's 1 ticket per ₹10,000, ₹22,000 earns 2 tickets a month, 24 a year worth up to ₹7,200 (24 times ₹300). The 20% off ₹600 of food each month is ₹120, or ₹1,440 a year. That totals ₹8,640, and ₹8,051.18 after the fee, about 3.27% of ₹2,64,000 of yearly spend (₹22,000 times 12), or ₹8,640 divided by ₹2,64,000. Use only half the tickets and the value drop to ₹5,040 (₹3,600 plus ₹1,440).
Heavy: groceries ₹12,000, shopping ₹15,000, travel ₹10,000, dining ₹8,000, bills ₹5,000, fuel ₹3,500 and cinema food ₹1,500. ₹55,000 earns 5 tickets a month. A family of four using 4 each month gets 48 a year, worth up to ₹14,400 (48 times ₹300), and 20% off ₹1,500 of food adds ₹300 a month, ₹3,600 a year. Total ₹18,000, or ₹17,411.18 after the fee. Paying ₹25,000 of rent on the card as well would add no ticket and cost ₹250 a month in fee (1% of ₹25,000), plus GST.

Eligibility, documents and applying
Kotak's card page sets out these conditions for the PVR INOX Kotak card:
- Primary cardholder aged 21 to 60 years; add-on cardholders 18 years and above.
- Resident of India.
- No income criterion is published, so we can't give you a figure.
The age band is same for salaried and self-employed people, since the page doesn't split them.
Paperwork and the application
Kotak wants papers that prove who you are, how old you are and where you live, something that shows your income or job, and the PAN card. Online, the form ask your name, phone number, PAN and Aadhaar, then a Video KYC call, after which you get a virtual card. Kotak branches and bank representatives also take applications.
How the bank decides
The RBI leaves eligibility to issuers but tells them to look at your independent financial means and the limits you already have. Kotak will be pulling your bureau report surely. On CRIF's 300 to 900 range above 700 is generally considered good, and somebody with no CRIF data gets an 'NH' report rather than a score. If Kotak decline you, it must tell you the reasons in writing. Approval is the bank's decision alone.
Once you have the card, RBI rules still protect you. You can ask to close it any time, and once dues are cleared the bank must do it within seven working days or pay you ₹500 for every day of delay. For card queries the 24x7 toll-free line is 1800 4100, and our Kotak customer care guide has the rest.

Is the PVR INOX Kotak card right for you?
For regular PVR INOX visitors who already spends ₹10,000 or more a month on cards, this one is an easy call. Even one ticket a month at full value comes to ₹3,600 a year against a ₹588.82 fee. Families gain more, because several tickets arrive every month and the 20% food discount works on every visit, popcorn included.
It's a weak choice for everyone else. If you watch films in a theatre a few times a year, or live far from a PVR INOX screen, the fee is hard to earn back and there's no point system to fall on. It gives nothing on fuel, has no airport lounge, and the 3.5% forex markup makes it a poor travel card, so it shouldn't be your only card.
Trade-offs
The value depends on discipline. Coupons need claiming within two cycles and using within 60 days, so one busy month can make you lose tickets. A cheap weekday show use up a coupon worth ₹300 on a ticket worth less. And chasing the next ₹10,000 step can push you into spending you didn't plan; rent and wallet loads won't help there, since they are excluded. Pair it with a cashback or points card for the rest of your spending.
Pros
- One movie ticket worth up to ₹300 for every ₹10,000 spent in a billing cycle, with no upper limit
- Flat 20% off food and beverages at PVR INOX theatres, app and website
- 5% off movie tickets at PVR INOX
- No joining fee and a modest ₹499 + GST annual fee
- Fuel and utility spends count towards the ticket threshold
- Entry to in-cinema PVR INOX lounges at no extra cost
Cons
- No annual fee waiver at any spend level
- No ticket at all in a month with spends under ₹10,000
- Coupons must be claimed within 2 billing cycles and used within 60 days
- Booking fees, taxes and any fare above ₹300 are paid by you
- No fuel surcharge waiver, no airport lounge and a 3.5% forex markup
- Rent, wallet loads and online gaming do not count towards tickets
PVR INOX Kotak against other movie-friendly cards
Plenty of cards carries a movie perk, but usually as a side benefit. Here is how three of them stack up against a card built around tickets.
PVR INOX Kotak or Kotak League Platinum
League Platinum, also from Kotak, costs ₹499 plus GST but waives it on ₹50,000 of retail spends a year. Its movie benefit is a milestone: 4 PVR tickets of up to ₹400 each, or 10,000 points, for every ₹1,25,000 spent in six months, with 8 tickets a year at most. At ₹22,000 a month you'd spend ₹1,32,000 in six months (₹22,000 times 6), so 8 tickets in the year against 24 on the PVR INOX card. League does earn points on everything else. For film fans PVR INOX Kotak wins easily; for a general card with the odd film, League.
PVR INOX Kotak or Axis Bank MY Zone
MY Zone has an MITC fee of ₹500 plus GST a year, with a time-limited lifetime-free offer on its Visa version until 31 December 2026. Its District buy-one-get-one offer takes 100% off the second ticket up to ₹200, once a month, and from 1 November 2026 it need ₹25,000 of spends in the previous 3 months. That is up to ₹2,400 a year (12 times ₹200), and movie spends earn no points on it. It adds 1 domestic lounge visit a quarter after ₹50,000 of spends in the previous 3 months.
PVR INOX Kotak or ICICI Bank Coral
ICICI Bank Coral charges ₹500 plus GST, reversed for that year if you spend ₹1.5 lakh; ICICI's card page words it as a waiver for the next year. It gives 25% off up to ₹100 on INOX tickets twice a month, and the same on BookMyShow when you spent ₹25,000 in the previous quarter, plus 2 points per ₹100 on retail spends. Coral suit people who want points, a lounge visit and a small movie saving; real film fans gets far more from PVR INOX Kotak.
More options sit on the Kotak credit cards page, Kotak's shopping card is in our Zen Signature review, points cards are explained under reward cards, and everything starts at the credit cards hub.
