Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card: the SBI Card version
There is two cards called Tata Neu Infinity, one from HDFC Bank and this one from SBI Card, and their rules are not the same. This review is of the SBI Card one, issued with Tata Digital's NeuPass programme; it is active, on Visa or RuPay, and SBI Card takes application online. The Similar cards tab set it against HDFC's.
Rewards come as NeuCoins, each worth ₹1 on Tata Neu or at brands like BigBasket, Croma, Tata CLiQ, Tata 1mg, Titan, Westside and IHCL hotels. SBI Card moves the coins to your NeuPass account by itself within 7 working days of each statement. Nothing to claim.
What matters most
- 5% on Tata, no cap stated. Non-EMI spends on the Tata Neu app or website and at partner Tata brands earn 5%, and SBI Card names no ceiling for it.
- 1.5% on nearly everything else. UPI on the RuPay card earn the same rate, up to 500 NeuCoins a month.
- Low forex. The 1.99% markup is the lowest in SBI Card's fee table, shared with AURUM, ELITE, PRIME NRI Secured and Miles Elite.
Changes to know about
The records we read show no card-specific change from 2024 to 2026, but the issuer's common charges has moved: 3.75% a month interest from 1 November 2024, a 1% fee on big utility bills from 1 December 2024 and on wallet loads and app-paid education from 1 November 2025, and from 1 December 2026 on large transport and fuel spends too.
What the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card costs
Joining fee is ₹1,499 and the renewal from year two is the same ₹1,499, both plus taxes. GST at 18% adds ₹269.82 (₹1,499 times 18%), so you actually pay ₹1,768.82 each year. SBI Card credits 1,499 NeuCoins within 15 days of the joining fee being realised, which mean the first-year fee comes back as coins and only the GST stays a cost. Add-on cards are free.
Getting the renewal reversed
The annual fee is reversed when net retail spends in the 365 days before the fee date reach ₹3 lakh, which works out to ₹25,000 a month (₹3,00,000 divided by 12). A family running BigBasket orders and phone bills through it can get there, a single person with the odd Croma purchase will not.
Interest, late payment and cash
A carried balance costs 3.75% a month, 45% a year. Late fees start at nil for dues of ₹100 or less and goes up in slabs to ₹1,300 above ₹50,000, plus ₹100 a cycle once the minimum is missed twice running. ATM cash costs 2.5% or ₹500, whichever is higher, with interest from the withdrawal date.
Special spends and travel charges
- Rent: ₹199 plus taxes per payment, and no NeuCoins either.
- Utilities: 1% on the whole of a billing cycle's utility payments if the total crosses ₹50,000.
- Wallet loads above ₹1,000 and education via third-party apps: 1%; paying the institution direct costs nothing.
- From 1 December 2026: 1% on every transport transaction above ₹30,000, and 1% on a cycle's full fuel bill once it pass ₹50,000.
- Forex: 1.99%, also on rupee payments of ₹1,000 or more at overseas-registered merchants. On ₹1,00,000 spent abroad that is ₹1,990 (1.99% of ₹1,00,000), against ₹3,500 at SBI Card's usual 3.5%.
The fuel surcharge waiver is 1% on fills between ₹500 and ₹4,000, up to ₹500 per statement cycle, though SBI Card's RuPay rules says it does not apply on fuel paid by UPI.

How NeuCoins add up on the SBI Card version
The 5% rate covers non-EMI spends on the Tata Neu app or website and at partner brands: Air India and Air India Express, BigBasket, Tata CLiQ, Taj Hotels, Tata 1mg, Titan and Tanishq, Croma, Westside and Qmin. Other eligible spends earn 1.5%, and on the RuPay variant this includes UPI, capped at 500 NeuCoins a month. NeuPass members may get up to 5% extra on select Tata Neu categories, details SBI Card leave to Tata Neu.
Four everyday categories have monthly caps of 2,000 NeuCoins each: grocery, insurance, utilities, and telecom and cable. Even at 5% the grocery cap needs ₹40,000 a month to fill (2,000 divided by 5%), so few families will feel it. The UPI cap come much sooner, at about ₹33,333 of monthly UPI spends (500 divided by 1.5%).
No NeuCoins on fuel, wallet and gift card loads, vouchers, rent, government, education, gaming, EMI, cash or card fees. Coins are rounded down per transaction, so a ₹150 bill at 1.5% gives 2, not 2.25. SBI Card states no expiry or redemption fee, and if you change to a non-Tata Neu SBI card the coins not yet moved is forfeited.
Lounges sit on top: 8 domestic visits a year, 2 a quarter, if eligible spends in the previous calendar quarter was ₹75,000 (waived in the quarter of issue), and 4 international visits a year through Priority Pass, whose membership are valid 2 years. Extra visits cost up to USD 27 plus taxes.
Three spending patterns
Light, ₹20,000 a month. ₹3,000 on BigBasket and ₹1,000 on Tata 1mg earn 200 NeuCoins, ₹4,000 of UPI earns 60, ₹10,000 of other spends 150 and ₹2,000 of fuel nothing: 410 a month, 4,920 a year. Yearly spends of ₹2,40,000 (₹20,000 times 12) miss the reversal, so from year two the ₹1,768.82 fee leaves ₹3,151.18 (4,920 minus 1,768.82). Quarterly spends of ₹60,000 also falls short of the ₹75,000 lounge condition.
Typical, ₹50,000 a month. ₹5,000 at BigBasket, ₹4,000 at Croma and ₹3,000 at Westside give 600; ₹8,000 on UPI gives 120; ₹25,000 of other shopping and ₹3,000 of phone and power bills give 420 at 1.5%; ₹2,000 of fuel gives none. That's 1,140 a month and 13,680 a year. ₹6,00,000 a year reverse the fee, and ₹1,50,000 a quarter (₹50,000 times 3) keeps the domestic lounges coming.
Heavy, ₹1,20,000 a month. ₹20,000 of Air India flights, ₹10,000 at Taj Hotels, ₹10,000 at Croma and ₹5,000 at BigBasket give 2,250. UPI of ₹40,000 would give 600 at 1.5% but the cap hold it at 500. ₹30,000 of other spends and ₹5,000 of insurance add 525. The total is 3,275 a month and 39,300 a year, with 1,200 lost to the UPI cap (100 times 12); paying part of that UPI by card swipe instead keeps those coins.
| Monthly pattern | Light ₹20,000 | Typical ₹50,000 | Heavy ₹1,20,000 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tata brands at 5% | ₹4,000: 200 | ₹12,000: 600 | ₹45,000: 2,250 |
| RuPay UPI at 1.5% | ₹4,000: 60 | ₹8,000: 120 | ₹40,000: 500 (capped) |
| Other spends at 1.5% | ₹10,000: 150 | ₹28,000: 420 | ₹35,000: 525 |
| NeuCoins a year | 4,920 | 13,680 | 39,300 |
| Fee from year two | ₹1,768.82 | Reversed | Reversed |

Eligibility and how to apply for the SBI version
SBI Card doesn't publish a income floor for this card, the biggest difference from HDFC's version. It asks for a stable income, and its card finder places Tata Neu Infinity under a "50 to 99K" monthly income filter, a way to browse and not a rule. Age follows SBI Card's common rules: at least 21 for salaried people, above 25 for self-employed online applicants and above 40 for retired pensioners. For the maximum, the same SBI Card page says 60 in its checklist and 70 in its FAQ.
- PAN for digital KYC, and an Aadhaar copy with the first 8 digits masked or another government address proof.
- Income proof like salary slip or ITR, when SBI Card ask for it.
Apply from the card's page on SBI Card's website, through the ILA chatbot, on the helpline (39 02 02 02, prefixed by your STD code) or at an SBI branch. Choose RuPay if UPI on credit is the reason: only RuPay credit cards link to UPI, for merchant payments only, up to ₹5 lakh a day within your limit.
SBI Card looks for a credit score preferably 750 to 900 and a clean history, and the RBI's 2025 NBFC card Directions requires it to judge your own repayment capacity and explain any rejection in writing. Tata Digital, the co-brand partner, only markets the card and cannot see your transactions; the decision is SBI Card's.

| Other conditions | Positive credit history preferred; good credit score, preferably between 750 and 900; SBI banking relationship not mandatory; residence must be in a location serviced by SBI Card; retired pensioners above 40 can apply online. Who gains from the Tata Neu Infinity SBI Card
The best fit is a household already living on Tata brands. Groceries from BigBasket, gadgets from Croma, medicines from Tata 1mg, a Westside shirt and the odd Air India ticket all earn 5%, and the rest of the month's spending 1.5%, UPI included. Cross ₹3 lakh in a year and the fee goes, and the coins arrives in NeuPass on its own.
The trade-off is the closed loop. A NeuCoin is worth ₹1 only on Tata Neu and the brands listed for redemption, so someone who rarely shops there gets a 1.5% card with a ₹1,499 fee. Lounges need ₹75,000 of spends in a quarter, more than many light users manage. And SBI Card states neither a cap on the 5% nor an expiry for NeuCoins, so Tata Neu's own terms matters a lot.
- Gains most: regular Tata shoppers, RuPay UPI users who stay under ₹33,333 of UPI a month, and people who spend abroad a few times in year.
- Should skip: people who want cashback on their statement, and anyone paying mostly rent, fuel or wallet loads.
- Look at HDFC's version if a ₹50,000 same-quarter lounge rule suit you better and you will remember to claim coins.
Pros
- 5% back as NeuCoins on Tata Neu and partner Tata brands, with no cap stated
- 1.5% on most other spends, including UPI on the RuPay variant
- NeuCoins move to NeuPass automatically within 7 working days of the statement
- 1,499 welcome NeuCoins offset the first-year fee
- 1.99% forex markup, the lowest in SBI Card's range
Cons
- NeuCoins are worth ₹1 only on Tata Neu and partner brands
- Domestic lounges need ₹75,000 of spends in the previous quarter
- UPI NeuCoins stop at 500 a month
- No NeuCoins on rent, fuel, wallet loads, education or EMI spends
- SBI Card states no expiry and no cap for NeuCoins, leaving those to Tata Neu
SBI Tata Neu Infinity against HDFC's card of the same name
Tata Neu Infinity HDFC Bank
The HDFC Bank version shares the ₹1,499 plus GST fee, the ₹3 lakh reversal and the 5% and 1.5% headline rates; the difference are in the working. From 25 November 2026 HDFC's NeuCoins must be claimed in the Tata Neu App within 12 months, while SBI Card moves them by itself. HDFC's full 1.5% on UPI needs the Tata Neu UPI ID (0.5% from other apps), and SBI Card states no such condition. HDFC gives 2 domestic lounge vouchers a quarter on ₹50,000 of spends in that quarter, against ₹75,000 in the previous quarter here. Forex is 2% at HDFC and 1.99% at SBI Card, and HDFC asks salaried applicants for gross monthly income above ₹1 lakh where SBI Card publishes no figure.
Tata Neu Plus HDFC Bank
The cheaper Tata Neu Plus HDFC card costs ₹499 plus GST, reversed at ₹1 lakh a year, and pays 2% on Tata brands and 1% elsewhere, with 1 domestic lounge voucher a quarter on ₹50,000 of spends and 3.5% forex. SBI Card lists its own Tata Neu Plus at ₹499, not reviewed here.
Reliance SBI Card PRIME
For a different retail group, Reliance SBI Card PRIME costs ₹2,999 plus GST and gives 20 points per ₹100 on AJIO and JioMart, 5% at ₹0.25 a point, but the points turn only into Reliance Retail vouchers, ordinary spends earn 0.5% and forex is 3.5%.
Who should pick which
Take SBI's card for automatic coins and low forex, HDFC's if ₹50,000 a quarter for lounges is easier and claiming is no bother, Tata Neu Plus for a Tata budget that won't reach ₹3 lakh a year, and Reliance PRIME if AJIO and JioMart is where you shop.
