In short

A sensible low-fee card for BPCL customers who fill up ₹2,000 to ₹10,000 a month by swiping, and of little use to anyone who buys fuel at other pumps.

Best for

  • Two-wheeler and small-car owners whose regular pump is a BPCL outlet
  • First-time card users who want a ₹499 card with a clear fuel benefit
  • People who want a RuPay card for UPI payments at shops

Skip it if

  • You fill up at HPCL, IndianOil or other non-BPCL pumps
  • Your yearly card spend stays below ₹1 lakh, so the fee is never reversed
  • You need lounge access or low forex charges

BPCL SBI Card in brief

SBI Card issues this card with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd for people who want a fuel benefit without a big fee. It costs ₹1,000 a year less than its sibling, the ₹1,499 OCTANE. The "4.25% value back" in its advertising are made of two parts: 13 points per ₹100 at BPCL, worth 3.25%, and the 1% surcharge refund at the pump.

You can take it on Visa or RuPay. The RuPay one links to UPI for paying shops, but fuel paid through UPI at a BPCL pump earns no points and no refund. Every other SBI Card option is on our SBI Card hub.

What matters most

  1. A ₹10,000 ceiling. Fuel points stop at 1,300 a statement cycle, which is ₹10,000 of fuel (1,300 divided by 13, times ₹100), and the terms say points are earned on a maximum spend of ₹10,000 a month.
  2. Swipe, don't scan. The refund needs a card swipe at the POS machine on fills up to ₹4,000, and it cap at ₹100 a cycle.
  3. A higher waiver bar. From 1 May 2026 the ₹499 fee is reversed only after ₹1 lakh of spend in a year, double the earlier ₹50,000.

Recent changes

The waiver change is the big one for this card. Rent has earned nothing since 1 July 2023. Across SBI cards, interest rose to 3.75% a month from 1 November 2024, wallet loads above ₹1,000 attract 1% from 1 November 2025, and from 1 December 2026 a 1% fee hits a cycle's fuel spend above ₹50,000, a level what few BPCL card users will come near. The card is active and taking applications.

Frequently asked questions

What is the BPCL SBI Card annual fee, and when is it reversed?
The card costs ₹499 to join and ₹499 a year, plus 18% GST, so ₹588.82. From 1 May 2026 SBI Card reverses the annual fee when your spend in the previous year reaches ₹1 lakh, up from ₹50,000 earlier, which is about ₹8,334 a month. Add-on cards are free, and 2,000 welcome points worth ₹500 offset most of the first fee.
How much are BPCL SBI Card reward points worth?
A point is worth ₹0.25, because BPCL turns every 4 points into ₹1 of fuel, either instantly on the pump's machine or as fuel e-vouchers. Taking statement credit instead gives the same value but carries a ₹99 plus taxes fee, and since 1 April 2026 SBI Card allows it only in multiples of 4,000 points. Points expire after 24 months.
Who can apply for the BPCL SBI Card?
Salaried applicants aged 21 or more and self-employed applicants above 25 can apply, and SBI Card's page gives the upper age as 60 in one place and 70 in another. SBI Card publishes no minimum income for any card; it asks for stable income, a bureau score ideally in the 750 to 900 band and a home address in its service area. The decision rests with SBI Card.
Does the BPCL SBI Card have lounge access or low forex charges?
No. SBI Card lists no domestic or international lounge access for this card, and foreign currency spends carry a 3.5% markup, which also applies to rupee payments of ₹1,000 or more at merchants registered abroad. The card is built for fuel and daily spends, so frequent travellers should look at a travel card instead.
What changed on the BPCL SBI Card in 2026?
From 1 May 2026 the yearly spend needed to reverse the ₹499 annual fee went up from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. Separately, from 1 December 2026 every SBI card charges 1% on a billing cycle's total fuel spend once it is above ₹50,000. Since fuel points on this card stop at ₹10,000 of fuel a cycle, few holders will come near that level.
Do I earn points if I pay for fuel by UPI with the BPCL SBI Card?
No. The card's terms exclude fuel paid through UPI on the RuPay card at BPCL pumps, so those payments earn no points and no 1% surcharge refund. Pay with the physical card on the pump's POS machine instead and keep each fill to ₹4,000 or below for the refund, which is capped at ₹100 a statement cycle.
