Check the number before you dial
Searching for a customer care number is one of the most exploited moments in Indian consumer finance: fraudsters seed fake helplines into search results, map listings and social-media replies. Take the number from Care Health Insurance's own site or from inside its app, and never accept inbound help. No insurer in India will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV, full card number or a screen-sharing app, and no genuine refund requires you to pay first.
Care Health Insurance's own published warning: “"Beware of spurious phone calls and fictitious / fraudulent offers. IRDAI or its officials do not involve in activities like selling insurance policies, announcing bonus or investment of premiums. Public receiving such phone calls are requested to lodge a police complaint."”
If money has already left your account, call 1930 and file at cybercrime.gov.in the same hour — see the first-hour fraud steps.
What you can get done on the Care Health Insurance helpline
- › Intimate, file, upload documents for and track a claim (online 'Claim Genie' interface and Track Claim)
- › Seek cashless authorisation - at least 48 hours before planned hospitalisation, within 24 hours of emergency hospitalisation
- › Locate a cashless network hospital and a branch (Network Locator / Branch Locator)
- › Renew a policy (Quick Renew) and download the renewal notice
- › Get policy details, the policy / Section 80D certificate soft copy and policy terms
- › Change address, email ID, mobile number, nominee name, or correct name/PAN details
- › Book, reschedule or cancel a health check-up appointment
- › Track a service request by request number or see the last 5 requests
- › Raise and track a grievance, including senior-citizen priority routing
Keep these ready before you call — your policy number, registered mobile number, the exact date and amount of the transaction in question, and any earlier complaint reference number. Ask for a reference number before the call ends and note the agent's name: without a reference, an escalation has nothing to attach to.
Registering a claim with Care Health Insurance
Claim intimation
- Phone
- 1800-102-4488
- Turnaround
- Care's own Claims Procedure document states: "For cashless claims, the initial process takes 1 hour and the final process takes 3 hours from the time of complete claim [documents]", and the claim centre page adds "For cashless claim we will contact you within 6 hours from the time of claim intimation" and "For reimbursement claims, you will hear from us within 7 days of registration of Claim." This matches IRDAI's Master Circular on Health Insurance Business (29.05.2024): cashless authorisation "not more than one hour of receipt of request" and final discharge authorisation "within three hours of the receipt of discharge authorization request from the hospital".
- Hospitals
- Network hospital list ↗
"For any emergency hospitalization, the insured should intimate us within 24 hours from the time of hospitalization. For any planned hospitalization, the Insured should seek cashless authorization from us at least 48 hours prior to hospitalization." Process: "Contact hospital insurance help-desk or billing counter with a copy of patient's medical ID card, e-health card, pre-authorization form along with valid Govt. ID proof"; "Submitted documents are shared by the billing counter/TPA desk with us, seeking pre-authorization approval"; "Pre-authorization decision will be given by us post review as per policy terms and conditions." Cashless is available only at network hospitals.
Senior citizen channel
IRDAI requires insurers to handle senior-citizen complaints through a dedicated channel. Care Health Insurance publishes one:
Care Health Insurance grievance redressal — officer, address and timelines
IRDAI requires every insurer to appoint and publish a Grievance Redressal Officer. This is who you write to when customer care has not fixed the problem — and the step you must complete before the Ombudsman will hear you.

- Designation
- Grievance Redressal Officer (Level 3 - GRO)
- GRO@careinsurance.com

What to put in the escalation email
One screen, no adjectives. Open with your policy number and the earlier complaint reference. Then: what happened, with dates and amounts; what you have already been told; and what specific outcome you want — a reversal, a corrected bureau entry, a closure letter. Attach screenshots and statements as files rather than describing them. Close with a line saying that if it is not resolved within 15 days you will take it to the IRDAI Bima Bharosa portal and the Insurance Ombudsman. That sentence changes how the file is handled, because it starts a clock the company is measured on.
Registered office: Care Health Insurance Limited, Reg Office - 5th Floor, 19, Chawla House, Nehru Place, New Delhi-110019, CIN U66000DL2007PLC161503. Correspondence address: Vipul Tech Square, Tower C, 3rd Floor, Golf Course Road, Sector-43, Gurugram-122009 (Haryana)
If Care Health Insurance does not resolve it: the escalation ladder
Each level has to be attempted before the next one will hear you, and each one needs the reference number from the level below. Nothing here costs money and none of it needs a lawyer.
