Check the number before you dial

Searching for a customer care number is one of the most exploited moments in Indian consumer finance: fraudsters seed fake helplines into search results, map listings and social-media replies. Take the number from Punjab National Bank's own site or from inside its app, and never accept inbound help. No bank, NBFC or lender in India will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV, full card number or a screen-sharing app, and no genuine refund requires you to pay first.

Punjab National Bank's own published warning: “Do not reveal user PIN or any security information on card to anyone. Neither the Bank nor any Authorized Agencies will ever ask you to disclose your PIN. Bank never asks for user id and password, hence don’t share it with anyone including bank’s call center and branch staff.”

If money has already left your account, call 1930 and file at cybercrime.gov.in the same hour — see the first-hour fraud steps.

What you can get done on the Punjab National Bank helpline

  • Get your account balance by giving a missed call on 1800 180 2223 from your registered mobile number.
  • Hotlist a lost or damaged debit or ATM card immediately by calling 1800 1800 or 1800 2021.
  • Report cash not dispensed by an ATM.
  • Lodge a complaint by calling the toll-free line, emailing care@pnb.bank.in, texting COMPLAINT to 5607040, writing to the Branch Manager, or using the complaint book kept at every branch.
  • Track an existing complaint or service request from the bank’s website.
  • Get an account statement, interest certificate, loan account summary or deposit summary on WhatsApp.
  • Block UPI, stop a cheque, disable internet or mobile banking, or block a debit card on WhatsApp — useful when you cannot get through on the phone.

Keep these ready before you call — your loan or account number, registered mobile number, the exact date and amount of the transaction in question, and any earlier complaint reference number. Ask for a reference number before the call ends and note the agent's name: without a reference, an escalation has nothing to attach to.

Punjab National Bank grievance redressal — officer, address and timelines

Punjab National Bank customer care — frequently asked questions

What is the Punjab National Bank customer care number?
1800 1800 / 1800 2021 (Main customer care (toll free)), +91 120 2490000 (Customer care for callers from abroad and within India (paid number)), 1800 180 2223 (Balance enquiry by missed call from your registered mobile (toll free)), +91 120 2303090 (Balance enquiry by missed call, for global users), 1800 180 2345 (Credit card helpline (toll free)), +91 120 4616200 (Credit card helpline for global users), 1800 180 8888 (Loan products), 1800 180 5555 (Retail products), 1800 330 3333 (Digital products), 5607040 (SMS — text COMPLAINT to lodge a complaint, or PNB PROD for loan product information), +91 8447706400 / +91 8447741369 (NRI Customer Service Centre — account opening and NRI/PIO account queries), +91 124 4126244 (Principal Nodal Officer). It is published as a 24x7 line. These are taken from Punjab National Bank's own official contact page — verify anything you find elsewhere against that page or inside the app before calling.
Is there a 24x7 Punjab National Bank helpline?
Yes. Punjab National Bank publishes 1800 1800 / 1800 2021, +91 8447706400 / +91 8447741369 as available round the clock. Partly. PNB publishes 1800 1800 and 1800 2021 as accessible 24 hours throughout India, its WhatsApp channel as available 24/7 x 365 including holidays, and its NRI Customer Service Centre as 24x7. Hours are not published for the credit card, loan, retail or digital product helplines. Toll-free: 1800 1800 / 1800 2021, 1800 180 2223, 1800 180 2345, 1800 180 8888, 1800 180 5555, 1800 330 3333.
Does Punjab National Bank have a WhatsApp number?
Yes — +91 92640 92640, published on its own website. Available 24/7 x 365, even on holidays. Services include account statement and summary, balance enquiry, last five transactions, KYC and email updates, e-statement registration, nominee addition, blocking UPI, stopping a cheque, disabling internet or mobile banking, blocking a debit card, cheque status, positive pay, cheque book request, opening an FD, loan account summary, deposit summary and interest certificate. PNB’s own advice: check for the green tick beside its name before starting a conversation. Save it from the official page rather than from a forwarded message: impersonating support on WhatsApp is one of the most common fraud methods in Indian lending today.
How do I file a complaint against Punjab National Bank?
Start with customer care and get a complaint reference number — every later step depends on it. If it is unresolved, write to the Grievance Redressal / Nodal Officer listed above with that reference, your account or policy number and dates. If 30 days pass without a satisfactory reply, complain to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in — it is free, online and needs no lawyer.
Who is the grievance redressal officer of Punjab National Bank?
Punjab National Bank publishes a grievance channel but not a named officer on the pages we verified. RBI requires every regulated lender to display its grievance officer inside the app, which is the one place the detail cannot be faked.
How do I know a Punjab National Bank customer care number is genuine?
Take it from only two places: the official website, and the support section inside the app. RBI requires the detail to be displayed there, and it is the one place a fraudster cannot edit. Never dial a number from a search snippet, a map listing, a social-media reply or a comment thread. And never accept inbound help — if someone calls claiming to be Punjab National Bank, hang up and dial the official number yourself. No company will ever ask for your OTP, PIN, CVV or a screen-sharing app.
