Salary advance and small loans for workers of partner employers, lent by partner NBFCs

This KarmaLife app review covers interest rates, eligibility, charges, documents and real borrower feedback, along with the verified KarmaLife customer care number and support email — plus the RBI grievance route if a complaint is not resolved in 30 days.

KarmaLife is a salary advance and small-loan app for gig and blue-collar workers, run by OnionLife Private Limited, a Bengaluru fintech that doesn't lend itself. The money comes from partner NBFCs such as Avanti Finance, Niyogin Fintech and Bhawana Capital, and the one thing to know first is that it only works if your employer or delivery platform has signed up with KarmaLife. We read KarmaLife's own pages, its Google Play listing, the lenders' websites and RBI's NBFC list as of November 2026. The salary advance carries no interest, only a flat fee each cycle, but KarmaLife doesn't publish that fee outside the app, so your Key Fact Statement is where the real cost shows up.

Processing Fee

Our Ratings

Disbursal speed 3.0/5

KarmaLife promises money in 4 to 48 working hours with credit access around the clock, which is fine for a wage advance but not instant.

Interest & cost 2.5/5

The advance has no interest, but its per-cycle fee is unpublished and the loan example runs at 36% a year plus a fee.

App experience 2.5/5

The app offers four languages and payroll repayment, but Play shows no rating or reviews, so the experience can't be judged from users.

Customer support 2.5/5

A named grievance officer, phone line and lender nodal officers are listed, though the phone numbers and emails differ across pages.

Safety & transparency 3.0/5

Every named lender is RBI-registered and three confirm the tie-up, but the lender lists conflict and the privacy policy is broad.

Loan Details & Charges

Loan Amount Not published
Interest Rate 17.95% to 36% a year
Tenure Not published
Processing Fee Up to 8% + GST
Late Payment KarmaLife terms: a delay of more than 30 days may attract a penalty (amount not stated) and the account is locked until the fee and credit are paid. Bhawana Capital: 10 rupees a day on an overdue instalment up to 2,000 rupees (cap 250) or 20 rupees a day above that (cap 500), at most 3,000 rupees per loan, plus GST.
Foreclosure Not published by KarmaLife; Bhawana Capital publishes nil foreclosure and prepayment charges. RBI rules give a cooling-off exit at principal plus proportionate APR.

Eligibility Criteria

Age 18+ years
Employment Gig and blue-collar workers who are whitelisted by a KarmaLife partner employer or platform and actively working with it
Documents Digital KYC with PAN, a bank account in your name that matches your KYC, mobile number and email; work details (tenure, role, pay) come from your employer. No salary slips or paperwork listed.

What It Actually Costs

Loan amount ₹50,000
Tenure 3 months
Monthly EMI ₹17,677
Total interest ₹3,030
Processing fee ₹1,100 + 18% GST = ₹1,298, deducted upfront
Total repayment ₹53,030

This uses the personal loan example on KarmaLife's Play listing, so about ₹48,702 reaches your bank and the APR works out near 52.6%. The salary advance works differently, with a flat per-cycle fee that KarmaLife doesn't publish.

Try the KarmaLife EMI calculator

Pros

  • Loans come from RBI-registered NBFCs, and Bhawana, Niyogin and Fynx name KarmaLife on their own sites
  • No interest on the salary advance, and repayment comes out of your payout automatically
  • Money goes only to your own bank account, usually within 4 to 48 working hours
  • A named grievance officer, a phone line and each lender's nodal officer are listed on the site
  • Publishes its default loss guarantee cover and a list of authorised collection agencies

Cons

  • The per-cycle fee on salary advances isn't published; you only see it in the app and the KFS
  • Only workers of partner employers can sign up, so most people can't use it at all
  • The lender list differs between the Play listing, the terms, the About page and the grievance policy
  • The Play loan example shows totals and an APR that don't match its own EMI
  • Google Play shows no rating or reviews, so there's no public record of borrower experience

Our Verdict

KarmaLife is a real channel to regulated lenders. Every NBFC it names sits on RBI's list as on 30 September 2026, and three of them, Bhawana Capital, Niyogin Fintech and Fynx Capital, name KarmaLife as a partner on their own websites. It also discloses default loss guarantee cover on lender portfolios worth ₹53.86 crore, which many small loan apps never publish. Price is the weak spot. The salary advance fee isn't published, the personal loan example on Google Play doesn't add up, and the list of lenders changes from page to page. Bhawana Capital, one of the lenders, publishes 17.95% to 36% a year and a processing fee of up to 8% plus GST, which is a fair guide to the upper end. Repayment comes straight out of your wages, which is simple, but it leaves little room when a payout is short. The privacy policy also allows far more device data than the Play safety form admits, including your list of installed apps. Use KarmaLife for a small advance if your employer offers it, read the KFS for the lender's name, fee and APR before you accept, and don't let it become a monthly habit.

Who KarmaLife suits

Gig and blue-collar workers whose employer or delivery platform already offers KarmaLife
Someone who needs part of wages already earned before the next payout
Workers who'd rather have repayment taken from their payout than track due dates
People new to formal credit who want the loan reported to the credit bureaus

Look elsewhere if

Your employer isn't a KarmaLife partner, because the app won't let you in
You want to compare costs before signing up, since the advance fee isn't published
You need a larger loan with a published amount range and tenure

Not sure the app is genuine? Is KarmaLife real or fake? How to check it yourself

Things to Watch

  • KarmaLife's pages say it charges a flat fee each cycle, but RBI's digital lending rules bar a lending service provider from charging borrowers separately, so check the fee sits in the lender's KFS
  • The Play example lists ₹3,729 of interest and ₹53,727 in total, yet three EMIs of ₹17,676 come to about ₹53,030, and the APR works out near 52.6%, not 40.27%
  • Lender names don't match across KarmaLife's own pages: four on Play, eight in the terms, nine on the About page and twelve in the grievance policy, including P2P platforms
  • The privacy policy allows reading your installed apps and their usage, calendar, wifi and battery data, and tracking location until dues are repaid, while the Play form lists far less
  • The privacy policy lets KarmaLife call you for 365 days after sign-up even if you're on the Do Not Disturb register

How to Apply for KarmaLife

  1. 1

Check your employer is a partner

KarmaLife only serves whitelisted workers of partner organisations, so ask your HR team or platform whether they offer it before you install anything.

  2. 2

    Install the right app

On Google Play, look for KarmaLife by Onionlife Pvt Ltd. Don't install an APK or follow a link sent by a stranger.

  3. 3

    Register and complete KYC

Sign up with your mobile number, set a PIN and finish the digital KYC with your PAN and a bank account in your own name.

  4. 4

Check the lender and the fee

The app names the lending NBFC during onboarding. Read the Key Fact Statement for the fee, APR and repayment date before you accept.

  5. 5

    Withdraw and repay

Money reaches your bank in 4 to 48 working hours. Repayment is deducted from your next payout, or you can pay by UPI in the app.

Documents Required

PAN card for KYC
A bank account in your own name that matches your KYC
Mobile number and email address
Work details such as role, tenure and pay, shared by your employer

What Real Users Say

Checked on 4 November 2026 on the Indian and US Play pages; neither showed a rating. The listing was last updated on 28 September 2026.

Google Play showed no star rating and no reviews section for KarmaLife on 4 November 2026, even though the listing shows 5L+ downloads. So there's no public set of dated borrower reviews to weigh.

What users love

No user reviews were visible. The praise on the listing, such as quick approval and repayment from earnings, is KarmaLife's own description, not borrower feedback.

Common complaints

No reviews were visible to read. We found no RBI caution or police action naming KarmaLife or OnionLife in the sources we checked.

How KarmaLife Compares

vs FlexSalary — A salary-linked credit line you can apply for on your own, without your employer signing up first.

vs Fibe — Started as a salary advance app and lends to salaried people directly, so no employer tie-up is needed.

vs mPokket — Small-ticket loans for young earners and students that you apply for yourself, with an RBI-registered NBFC in the group.

How we tested

Checked in November 2026. On 4 November we read KarmaLife's website, terms, FAQ, privacy and grievance policies, DLG disclosure and collection agency list, its Google Play listing and Data safety page, and the partner pages of Bhawana Capital, Niyogin, Fynx, Narendra Finance and Avanti. We matched each lender against RBI's NBFC list as on 30 September 2026 using an archived copy. RBI's Digital Lending Apps directory wouldn't load, Play showed no reviews, and we couldn't see the in-app fee or a KFS.

KarmaLife (OnionLife) Customer Support Details

KarmaLife runs support itself, even though a partner NBFC holds your loan. Start in the app's More section or email support, which says it calls back within about 2 hours on working days. If that fails, write to grievance officer Lavita Shetty or call her line, 9:30 AM to 7 PM, Monday to Friday. It's a regular Bengaluru number, not toll-free. Next, go to your lender's nodal officer, and after 30 days, RBI's complaint portal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KarmaLife safe and RBI registered?
KarmaLife itself isn't an NBFC. It's an app run by OnionLife Private Limited, which works as a lending service provider. The loans come from NBFCs such as Avanti Finance, Niyogin Fintech, Bhawana Capital and Resilient Finance, all on RBI's NBFC list as on 30 September 2026. The app names your lender during onboarding and in the Key Fact Statement, so check it there before you accept.
What does a KarmaLife salary advance cost?
KarmaLife says the advance has no interest, only a flat fee for each cycle, but it doesn't publish that fee outside the app. Its personal loans cost more: the Play example uses 36% a year and a ₹1,298 fee on ₹50,000. Bhawana Capital, one of its lenders, publishes 17.95% to 36% a year and a fee of up to 8% plus GST. Your KFS shows the real figure.
How much can I borrow on KarmaLife, and for how long?
Your limit depends on your earnings and the lender's assessment, and KarmaLife doesn't publish a minimum or maximum. Its terms give ₹15,000 as an example of a limit that refreshes every cycle. A salary advance is repaid from your next weekly or monthly payout, while the personal loan example on Google Play runs for 3 months.
Who can use KarmaLife, and what documents do I need?
Only whitelisted workers of KarmaLife's partner organisations can sign up. You must be an Indian resident, at least 18, and actively working with that partner. KYC is fully digital: you share your PAN, a bank account in your name that matches your KYC, and your contact details. KarmaLife also collects your role, tenure and pay from your employer.
How do I contact KarmaLife customer care or complain?
Start in the app's More section or email support, which says it calls back within about 2 hours on working days. If that fails, write to grievance officer Lavita Shetty at grievance@karmalife.ai or call 080 4736 0383, 9:30 AM to 7 PM, Monday to Friday. She aims to resolve complaints in 7 to 10 working days. Still stuck after 30 days? Use RBI's complaint portal.
Can I use KarmaLife if my employer isn't a partner?
No. KarmaLife's Google Play listing says its services are only for whitelisted workers of partner organisations, and repayment is set up as a deduction from your payout through that employer or platform. If your company hasn't signed up, the app won't give you a limit. A regulated salary loan app you can apply to directly is the better route.
How do I file a complaint against KarmaLife?
Work the escalation ladder in order. First, raise the complaint with KarmaLife support (support@karmalife.ai) and insist on a written complaint reference number — a call with no reference number effectively did not happen. If it is unresolved, escalate to the grievance redressal officer at grievance@karmalife.ai. The regulated entity has 30 days to resolve it. After that, you can complain free of cost to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in — no lawyer is needed, and the decision is binding on the lender.
How do I stop harassment calls from KarmaLife recovery agents?
RBI's rules on recovery conduct are specific: agents may not call before 8 a.m. or after 7 p.m., may not use threats, abuse or intimidation, and may not contact people from your phonebook to shame you. Blanket access to your contacts and photos is prohibited for digital lenders. If this is happening, save the evidence — call logs, screenshots, recordings — and complain to the lender's grievance officer (grievance@karmalife.ai), then to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in if it continues. If the app is not a regulated entity at all, report it on the RBI Sachet portal (sachet.rbi.org.in) and to the cyber-crime helpline 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in. Harassment, morphed images and contact-list shaming are criminal offences regardless of whether you owe money.
