Muthoot FinCorp ONE is the app of Muthoot FinCorp Limited, the Muthoot Pappachan Group's gold loan company, and its main loan is a gold loan that Muthoot FinCorp, an RBI-registered NBFC, funds itself. The thing to know first: the rate you're quoted holds only while you pay interest on time, because late interest pushes the loan into higher slabs that reach 30% a year on some schemes. The app also lists personal loans from ₹25,000 to ₹1 crore, but Muthoot FinCorp doesn't lend those. Partners such as Bajaj Finance, Tata Capital and Muthoot Capital Services do, on their own terms. So this review, as of November 2026, covers the gold loan, with a short look at the marketplace. And no, it isn't Muthoot Finance, which is a separate company.

Our Ratings

Disbursal speed 3.0/5

No disbursal time is published and a first loan needs a branch visit, though 24x7 top-ups in the app help repeat borrowers when they work.

Interest & cost 3.0/5

Base rates from 10.95% to 24% with flat fees and no foreclosure charge are fair, but slabs rise to 30% when interest is paid late.

App experience 3.0/5

The app rates 4.4 on Play, yet recent reviews report payment failures, login errors and top-ups that send people back to the branch.

Customer support 2.5/5

A toll-free line, a named Grievance Officer and a three-level ladder exist, but RBI fined the company over complaint escalation in 2025.

Safety & transparency 4.0/5

An RBI-registered Middle Layer NBFC that lends itself and warns about fakes, offset by a 2025 RBI penalty and three different headline rates.

Loan Details & Charges

Loan Amount From ₹1,000
Interest Rate 9.6% to 30% a year
Tenure 6 months to 12 months
Processing Fee Flat fee by scheme, GST included: Rs 25 (Super Value), Rs 50 (Easy Max), Rs 250 (Easy Pro), Rs 500 (Restart India Pradha
Late Payment No separate penal charge (Interest Rate Policy: no penal interest on any product), but the rebate is lost and a higher interest slab applies from the last interest-paid date when interest is not paid in time; e.g. Pradhan CLA 12.99% becomes 15% after 30 days and 19.20% after 60 days; top slabs reach 30% a year. Non-bullet schemes go overdue if interest is not paid by the 90th or 180th day. Notice charges Rs 12 (ordinary), Rs 26 (registered), Rs 30 (auction notice); auction charges 2% of auction value, max Rs 2,000 plus GST. SMA1/SMA2/NPA at due date +30/+60/+90 days.
Foreclosure Nil; minimum 7 days' interest if closed within 7 days. Part payment and part release allowed.

Eligibility Criteria

Age 18-80 years
Employment Any Indian citizen aged 18 to 80 with KYC; no income or job criteria published; credit and repayment capacity assessed for loans above Rs 2.5 lakh; separate income-generation schemes for business or agriculture use
Documents ID proof (passport, driving licence, Aadhaar or voter ID); address proof (electricity or water bill, voter ID, Aadhaar, rent agreement or bank statement); gold ornaments of 18 to 22 carat; savings bank account to link for online draws; repayment capacity details above Rs 2.5 lakh

What It Actually Costs

Loan amount ₹5,00,000
Tenure 6 months (180 days)
Monthly EMI No EMI: about ₹5,338 interest every 30 days, principal at the end
Total interest ₹32,030
Processing fee ₹1,000 (GST included)
Total repayment ₹5,33,030

This is Muthoot FinCorp's own Play example for its Pradhan co-lending scheme, and it assumes interest is paid every 30 days. Pay later and the rate rises to 15%, then 19.20%; if the ₹1,000 fee is taken from the loan, ₹4,99,000 reaches you.

Pros

  • Muthoot FinCorp lends the gold loan itself and sits in the Middle Layer of RBI's NBFC register
  • Flat processing fees of ₹25 to ₹1,000 a loan, with GST already included
  • No foreclosure fee, apart from a minimum of 7 days' interest on very early closure
  • Bullet schemes let you pay interest monthly and return the principal any time in the term
  • Publishes a fraud warning, a detailed auction policy and a named Grievance Officer

Cons

  • The quoted rate holds only if interest is paid on time; late interest moves loans to slabs up to 30%
  • Its own pages give three different starting rates: 9.6%, 9.95% and 10.95% a year
  • A first gold loan still needs a branch visit to value and pledge the jewellery
  • Recent reviewers report app payment errors, failed top-ups and closures that need a branch
  • Personal loans in the app come from partner lenders, so Muthoot FinCorp doesn't set those terms

Our Verdict

Muthoot FinCorp is a real, regulated gold lender with a long paper trail. RBI's register lists it as a Middle Layer NBFC, it lends from its own books, and its Pradhan and Easy Scale Up schemes are co-lent with banks. Fees are small and flat, from ₹25 to ₹1,000 a loan, and there's no foreclosure charge once a loan has run 7 days. It also publishes an auction policy, a fraud warning and a three-level complaint ladder with a named officer. The catch is how the pricing works. Every scheme starts at a rebated rate that lasts only while interest is paid on time, then steps up from the last date you paid. On the 12.99% scheme in its own Play example, that means 15% and then 19.20%, and other schemes reach 30%. Many one-star reviews describe this as a hidden rate. The app draws complaints about payments, top-ups and closures that end in a branch visit, and RBI fined the company ₹2.70 lakh in September 2025 for not auto-escalating rejected complaints to its Internal Ombudsman. Use it if you can pay interest every month and live near a branch. If you can't, or you'd rather not pledge jewellery, compare an unsecured loan first.

Who Muthoot FinCorp (Muthoot FinCorp ONE app) suits

Borrowers with gold jewellery who need money for a few months and can pay interest every month
People near one of its branches who want an established, RBI-registered gold lender
Repeat borrowers who want app top-ups and renewals once the gold is already pledged
Anyone whose credit history rules out an unsecured loan for a small amount

Look elsewhere if

If you might miss interest dates, since late interest moves the loan to much higher slabs
If you don't want to risk your jewellery being auctioned after a default
If you want a personal loan, since the app only passes you to partner lenders

Things to Watch

  • Rate step-ups: each scheme's rebated rate lapses if interest isn't paid within its slab, and the higher rate then applies from the last interest-paid date, reaching 30% a year on some schemes.
  • RBI fined Muthoot FinCorp ₹2.70 lakh by an order dated 24 September 2025 for not auto-escalating partly or wholly rejected complaints to its Internal Ombudsman. Its grievance policy effective 11 February 2026 now describes auto-escalation.
  • Navbharat Live reported on 6 August 2026 that 13 customers had complained to City Kotwali police in Amravati about one branch employee, alleging missing receipts and gold returned short; police were investigating.
  • The newest Play reviews lean on one-word five-star posts, and the same sentence appeared on four different days in October 2026, so the 4.4 rating may flatter the app.
  • Google Play's Data safety label says the app may share SMS, installed apps, files, photos and precise location with other companies, which is broad for a gold loan app.

How to Apply for Muthoot FinCorp (Muthoot FinCorp ONE app)

  1. 1

    Install the right app

Get Muthoot FinCorp ONE on Google Play and check the developer details name Muthoot FinCorp Limited, not another Muthoot company.

  2. 2

    Check your gold value

Register with your mobile number and use the eligibility check. The final amount depends on the branch appraisal and RBI's loan-to-value cap.

  3. 3

    Pledge at a branch

Take your jewellery and KYC documents to a branch, or book Gold Loan Prime so a relationship manager does KYC at home first.

  4. 4

    Read the scheme terms

Before you sign, note the scheme name, each interest slab, the interest due dates and the flat fee on your pledge papers and Key Fact Statement.

  5. 5

    Link your bank account

Sign up for the Online Gold Loan service so interest payments, renewals and top-ups can run through the app.

Documents Required

ID proof: passport, driving licence, Aadhaar or voter ID
Address proof: electricity or water bill, voter ID, Aadhaar, rent agreement or bank statement
Gold ornaments of 18 to 22 carat
Savings bank account details for the Online Gold Loan service
Income details for loans above ₹2.5 lakh, for the repayment capacity check

What Real Users Say

The app rates 4.4 from 57,807 ratings as of November 2026. Most of the newest five-star reviews are one or two words, the same sentence was posted on four days in October 2026, and every review gets the same templated reply, so read the detailed one-star posts too.

Recent Play reviews split sharply: many short five-star posts praise branch staff and service, while the detailed one-star posts are about interest that turned out higher than quoted and an app that fails at payments, top-ups or closure.

What users love

Friendly, respectful branch staff, an easy app when it works, quick help in emergencies and long-standing customers who trust the brand.

Common complaints

Rates that rise above the quoted figure, interest payments failing in the app, Express Gold Loan top-up errors, closures that can't be paid by NEFT or RTGS, being sent back to the branch, and marketing calls to people who never signed up.

How Muthoot FinCorp (Muthoot FinCorp ONE app) Compares

vs Oro Money — Another regulated gold loan route, run as an app with bank and NBFC partners, so compare its Key Fact Statement with a Muthoot FinCorp branch quote.

vs Bajaj Finserv — An unsecured personal loan from a large NBFC that also appears in ONE's partner list, useful if you'd rather not pledge gold.

vs Tata Capital — Another big NBFC in ONE's personal loan partner list; applying directly lets you read its own terms before you commit.

How we tested

We checked in November 2026. On 4 November we read Muthoot FinCorp's gold loan page, its rate chart dated 16 July 2026, its interest rate, auction, grievance and privacy policies, its regulatory page and partner list, and Muthoot Capital's loan pages. We checked RBI's NBFC register as on 30 September 2026, RBI's 2025 penalty order and its gold lending rules, then the ONE app's Play listing, Data safety section and newest month of reviews. RBI's Digital Lending Apps directory didn't load, and we didn't pledge gold.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Muthoot FinCorp ONE safe and RBI registered?
Yes. The ONE app belongs to Muthoot FinCorp Limited, which RBI's register lists as a Middle Layer NBFC that doesn't take deposits. It lends the gold loans itself. RBI did fine it ₹2.70 lakh in September 2025 over complaint escalation, which is a compliance penalty, not a fraud finding. Personal loans in the app come from partner lenders, so check whose name is on your loan papers.
What does a Muthoot FinCorp gold loan really cost?
Base rates in the chart dated 16 July 2026 run from 10.95% to 24% a year, with flat fees of ₹25 to ₹1,000 including GST. The Play listing says rates start at 9.6%. The low rate lasts only while interest is paid on time. Pay late and higher slabs apply from your last payment date, reaching 30% on some schemes.
How much can I borrow from Muthoot FinCorp, and for how long?
Gold loans start at ₹1,000 and run 6 to 12 months. No maximum is published. The amount depends on your gold's purity and weight and on RBI's cap, which allows up to 85% of the gold's value for consumption loans up to ₹2.5 lakh. The app's personal loans, from ₹25,000 to ₹1 crore over 3 to 60 months, come from partner lenders.
Who can apply and what documents are needed?
Any Indian citizen aged 18, up to 80 at the end of the loan, with valid ID and address proof can apply. Gold must be 18 to 22 carat. Muthoot FinCorp accepts a passport, driving licence, Aadhaar or voter ID, plus a utility bill, rent agreement or bank statement for address. Loans above ₹2.5 lakh also go through a repayment capacity check.
What is the Muthoot FinCorp customer care number?
The toll-free number is 1800 102 1616, open 9 am to 6 pm, Monday to Saturday, except national holidays. You can also email customer care or raise a WhatsApp chat in the ONE app. If that fails, escalate to Grievance Officer Ms. Julia Mathew on 0471-4911626. After 30 days without a fix, complain to RBI's ombudsman on 14448.
Is Muthoot FinCorp the same as Muthoot Finance?
No. Muthoot FinCorp Limited, the Muthoot Pappachan Group company behind the ONE app, and Muthoot Finance Limited, whose app is iMuthoot, are separate NBFCs with separate RBI registrations. RBI's register even places them in different layers. A loan, payment or complaint with one company can't be handled by the other, so check the name on your pledge receipt and in the app's developer details.
How do I file a complaint against Muthoot FinCorp (Muthoot FinCorp ONE app)?
Work the escalation ladder in order. First, raise the complaint with Muthoot FinCorp (Muthoot FinCorp ONE app) support (customercare@muthoot.com) and insist on a written complaint reference number — a call with no reference number effectively did not happen. If it is unresolved, escalate to the grievance redressal officer at pno@muthootfincorp.com. The regulated entity has 30 days to resolve it. After that, you can complain free of cost to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in — no lawyer is needed, and the decision is binding on the lender.
How do I stop harassment calls from Muthoot FinCorp (Muthoot FinCorp ONE app) recovery agents?
RBI's rules on recovery conduct are specific: agents may not call before 8 a.m. or after 7 p.m., may not use threats, abuse or intimidation, and may not contact people from your phonebook to shame you. Blanket access to your contacts and photos is prohibited for digital lenders. If this is happening, save the evidence — call logs, screenshots, recordings — and complain to the lender's grievance officer (pno@muthootfincorp.com), then to the RBI Ombudsman at cms.rbi.org.in if it continues. If the app is not a regulated entity at all, report it on the RBI Sachet portal (sachet.rbi.org.in) and to the cyber-crime helpline 1930 or cybercrime.gov.in. Harassment, morphed images and contact-list shaming are criminal offences regardless of whether you owe money.
